Valuable testing stubs and policy enforcement with room for better security and cost management
From an API management perspective, MuleSoft's API Manager is not as powerful as some other tools available. Features like monetization and advanced security, which are present in Apigee, are missing. I also want the API Manager to be used as a separate product apart from MuleSoft's other integration solutions. Additionally, the licensing cost is high, and many clients are looking to switch due to this.

A tool that ensures that its users see a return on investment from its use
The UI and the fact that the product is not easy to use are areas with shortcomings where improvements are required. Documentation isn't available for everything in the solution, so you may have to figure out a lot of things by yourself. Pipedream is easy to use for someone with tech skills or someone new who is trying to learn how to code. Though it is user-friendly for people with tech skills, it is not at all user-friendly for people who do not have any tech skills. The user interface of Pipedream is very simple compared to the user interfaces of some other products like monday.com or Asana. Asana and monday.com have visually appealing user interfaces. The user interface of Pipedream is not visually appealing at all. The aforementioned details need to be considered for improvement in the solution. I just wish there was a little bit more documentation on how everything worked when it came to deployment since I was a fairly new employee at the company at that time. Sometimes, the workflow wouldn't work fine in Pipedream, and I had to check it myself for errors. Finding the errors in Pipedream is hard to find. I think it would be good if Pipedream had the ability to send an email to notify you that there is an error with the code instead of having to go back in and then look every day or every hour if there was an error in the code.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"MuleSoft Anypoint API Manager has the most valuable data components and can integrate APIs across multiple microservices."
"The most valuable feature of MuleSoft API Manager is Exchange, where we store all the API specifications and build the documentation for each API."
"Leveraging MuleSoft's Anypoint Platform allows us to seamlessly integrate across different systems within enterprises, enabling customers to extend their products and services to the market with seamless channel integration."
"The product improved data exchange processes by enhancing communication between various messaging queues. There was a heavy reliance on queues for indexing clusters and data transfer in this particular environment. The product facilitated the transfer of messages from one queue to another, ensuring data flow and processing across different topics."
"The most valuable features are API development and API management."
"I believe the API connectivity within the cloud marketplace is most valuable."
"The most valuable features of the solution are the low code environment, the drag-and-drop functionality, and the ability to drop the connectors on the fly, which are extremely helpful."
"The most valuable features of Mulesoft Anypoint API Manager are the API gateway, rate limiting, and orchestration."
"The most valuable features of Pipedream are the prebuilt integrations that require no coding."
"The most valuable feature of Pipedream is the ability to use Python code in general."
"The solution enables users to integrate several things."
"It is a developer-friendly platform that allows writing custom scripts."

Cons

"Since most components are situated in the cloud, there's one particular hosted in the cloud. This presents a considerable challenge. While all other components are implemented on-premises, this specific one isn't permitted to be hosted in the cloud as per customer requirements. Shifting this component to an on-premises environment requires a significant effort."
"The initial setup is very complex."
"We have issues with the tool's pricing. The product seemed to have most of the features required for the tasks I was working on. I didn't feel the need for additional features. However, one aspect that could be improved is making the platform more user-friendly for non-technical users. While it's not necessarily complex, it does require some familiarity. Unlike open-source tools available online, accessing and using this product may not be as straightforward. It needs to offer training to its users."
"The log management for this solution needs improvement."
"The most important thing that should be improved is that it is too heavy."
"Better documentation to help explain each of the features would be really helpful."
"Monetization and cataloging can be improved."
"The solution's price is high."
"Documentation isn't available for everything in the solution, so you may have to figure out a lot of things by yourself."
"We faced some server timeouts."
"There is a potential area for improvement in handling loop operations over items."
"They should give more information about trigger failure."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"If one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the product price as six and a half to seven."
"The product is highly priced compared to other advanced software. It is affordable only for tier-one customers."
"The licensing model is based on how many cores are used. It is a very simple licensing scheme."
"Anypoint is the most expensive solution on the market, as far as I know, though it's also the most capable."
"I'm unsure about licensing costs because I'm not the person who handles this. But, ballpark, it's probably somewhere around $300,000-$400,000 or something like that."
"The licensing fees are approximately $80,000 USD per year and there are costs for additional functionality, as well as premiums for connectors to systems such as Oracle and SAP."
"I think that it is pretty expensive."
"The solution looks more expensive on the surface because it builds all the functions into one core component or into an integrated suite of components."
"The product price is fair and inexpensive than one of the competitors."
"Price-wise, for a company, it is a nice product, but for personal use, it is not very beneficial."
