Straightforward to implement, scalable, and has good stability and documentation, but technical support could still be improved
My company has around ten users of Oracle Data Integrator (ODI). A team of two to five people handles the deployment and maintenance of the solution. The current client of my company has this plan of moving to the cloud, with the possibility of replacing the ETL tool altogether, which could mean that more data is coming up, so there may be a plan to increase the usage of Oracle Data Integrator (ODI). My advice to others looking into implementing Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) is that if your database is on Oracle or SQL server, then Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) is a good tool to use. My rating for Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) is seven out of ten.

TIBCO BusinessWorks is used as middleware for us I like TIBCO BusinessWorks because it has a user-friendly GUI for developing solutions. The palette offers a wide range of activities, making it easy to configure and drop activities into the solution. I haven't encountered any drawbacks with…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution's initial setup is straightforward, especially compared to Mule, which our team has worked with before and found to be a bit more complex in terms of setup."
"The CAEM is very useful in its modularity and portability."
"The product has an ELT approach."
"It is an ETL tool, which does the extract, transform, and load."
"I do not have to maintain a separate ETL instance. I can change the SQL when something is not performing correctly."
"The initial setup is easy."
"The scalability is great. It's one of the reasons we chose the solution."
"The most valuable feature that we use is the Knowledge Modules."
"BusinessWorks reduces development time, helping developers to focus on business logic."
"The most valuable feature is the low-code platform."
"We use the solution to develop applications."
"Areas for improvement would be the cloud fitness of the product and the ease of migrating to newer versions."
"The most valuable features are the stability and the time to market."
"The Business Studio interface based on SCA Standards helps to show the business logic at first look and improve code maintenance."
"I like TIBCO BusinessWorks because it has a user-friendly GUI for developing solutions."
"The tool's most valuable feature is BusinessConnect. It's an older product but still quite useful, especially for transferring files from one location to another."

Cons

"The price needs to be lowered. It's too expensive."
"In our company, we haven't tried consuming services from IoT in our company yet, and I would like to know if the solution will support IoT services in the next release."
"If you have something like Cisco on top of it, you will have endless problems."
"The Oracle Data Integrator interface is extremely slow, especially when using remote desktop connections."
"The initial setup is complex, especially if you also have to install a console."
"It needs easier security."
"Stability could be improved because some operators have issues."
"The solution lacks some functions and features."
"The initial setup is not easy."
"Though it is a stable product, if we have an issue with the product, it gets difficult, and it gets really difficult to explain the issue to the support team. Also, it takes a long time to get resolved."
"I'd like to see a new cloud approach in the next release. They need to work on integrations, stability and management issues on their cloud platform."
"The container-based image is too large and this makes auto-scaling difficult."
"TIBCO BusinessWorks needs to improve its digital IDs and data processing capabilities. It will benefit small and medium businesses."
"Challenges with TIBCO BusinessWorks were mainly due to unclear documentation, but these were overcome by referring to comprehensive documents and raising tickets with TIBCO support."
"A possible improvement could be to give the capability to use different profiles for each AppNode when an application is deployed on an AppSpace."
"This solution's cloud could be improved. I don't know whether it was because we didn't have the internal expertise or if it was the product itself, but since they came later—I think only two or three years into the cloud—after many other iPaaS that had been in the cloud for longer, I feel that maybe they haven't matured in terms of the cloud."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There is a standard license to use the solution but there are other costs in addition, such as hardware and operating system."
"The solution is very expensive."
"Per user, it is $900 USD per year, though they will give some discount. However, even a 60% to 70% of discount for each won't help us much. On top of that, there is the perpetual license you must pay at the outset."
"I rate the platform pricing as five out of ten."
"The solution is expensive because of the model they use. The cost is for the license and for support."
"We found that the cost compared to other integration tools is a little high, but the solution works great."
"Being an ODI developer, I never had to pay for this product. I know that the pricing/licensing is not really low, but the product is really good."
"The license can be costly, but in certain complex cases, ODI proves to be the optimal solution."
"TIBCO BusinessWorks is expensive."
"I think BusinessWorks is more expensive compared to other products. We have the ELA, so at least we have some sort of bargain or discount with that. But for a start-up, it's very expensive compared to other ESBs."
"Its price policy has changed quite a lot in the last two years. It was extremely expensive previously. Nowadays, you can buy a license for BusinessWorks for €2000. Looking at what you get in return in terms of support, TIBCO community, and stability, it is fairly reasonable. It is not too expensive."
"My understanding is that the licensing is very costly."
"The cost depends on the components required."
"It is a bit expensive for medium-sized companies. If you are migrating from the current version to the container-supported version, it is quite expensive. The existing licensing will not work because the product platform itself is different."
"I would rate the solution's pricing a three out of ten."
"The payments made for service are the only addition to the standard licensing fees that we pay for the solution."
