Robust, reliable, simple to install and good technical support
We are attempting to improve the use of URL filtering beyond threat protection. I'm not sure what the remaining threat protection features are off the top of my head. But beyond that, we use URL filtering. We have three approved cases for using external dynamic lists that are stored in a bucket repository. Then, for each URL site that needs to be whitelisted, we add it to the external dynamic list in order to gain access to this email. I would like Wildfire to be implemented. We use the equivalent in Cisco is the integration policies. We have the Wildfire but we are not currently implementing it. We don't have the license to use it, but we are not currently implementing it until we present the use cases that the company gives some value to and they approve the use of it.

Operates in-line in the network, blocking malicious and unwanted traffic
A standout feature of TippingPoint is its strong integration with various solutions. It stands out as one of the leading network Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) in the current market and is known for its seamless integration with other solutions. For instance, when it identifies a potential threat within the traffic stream, it meticulously analyzes the data. Even in multilayer security scenarios, Tipping Point's network IPS can serve as a bypass for the basic firewall. If a threat is identified by Tipping Point, it promptly shares this information with the other systems. This ensures that they're updated and can employ the necessary solutions from their signature databases. The entire network gets safeguarded automatically. This integration extends to components like security and FX. This linkage streamlines our operations, offering a consolidated point of control for managing threats effectively.

Cons

"Sometimes when you want to group a set of ports, and communicate with Palo Alto, you cannot group TCP and UDP ports together. This needs to be adjusted."
"The price of licenses should be lowered to make it less costly to scale our solution."
"Palo Alto Networks Threat Prevention could improve the commercial offing. Other solutions, such as Fortinet provide better commercial features."
"Palo Alto's maintenance needs to be improved."
"The documentation needs to be improved. I need better information about how to configure it and what the best practices are."
"We are attempting to improve the use of URL filtering beyond threat protection."
"The organization mail security solutions could be improved. There is no mail security solution available."
"In Africa, the technical support is probably not as good as in Europe and the USA because it's a specific premium support, partner-enabled premium support and all of that. But it's really good, I don't really have any complaints, it's fairly good. I'll give them 80%."
"An area for improvement in Trend Micro TippingPoint Threat Protection System is the complexity of its interface."
"It takes a lot of time before you're connected to an engineer, so an area for improvement in Trend Micro TippingPoint Threat Protection System is the response time of its technical support team."
"TTPS is a bit behind in visuals, the UI, and some data elements."
"Price is a significant factor that requires attention to enhance the popularity of Tipping Point among mid-sized data centres. Currently, Tipping Point is primarily adopted by sizable data centres, and smaller defenders might find it financially challenging to acquire. Recognizing this, efforts are underway to potentially introduce diverse models with varying capacities. This adjustment aims to ensure that a broader range of data sizes can benefit from the solution. Also, the continuous evolution of Tipping Point is evident in its features, particularly the personalized dashboard and related aspects."
"There is room for improvement in customer service and support."
"The solution is pretty expensive."
"It integrates well but it takes time."
"I find Trend Micro TippingPoint Threat Protection System a bit clunky, and updating it can be a pain in the neck because you need to do it from time to time, so this is what needs to be improved in it. I would also rather have an all-in-one system that does intrusion detection, protection, web filtering, and also serves as a firewall, and my company is moving to an all-in-one solution, but I'm unsure of how soon that's going to be. Trend Micro TippingPoint Threat Protection System also doesn't have enough bandwidth to handle the required traffic within my company, so it's going to be replaced."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"From one to ten, with one being the most expensive, I would rate the pricing of Palo Alto Networks Threat Prevention a one out of ten. It is my understanding that Palo Alto Networks Threat Prevention is the most expensive one."
"If you want to have all of the good features then you have to pay extra for licensing."
"It is an expensive solution and I would like to see a drop in price."
"The price of the solution is higher than others on the market. A price reduction would be beneficial if it does not impact their database quality."
"Palo Alto Networks Advanced Threat Prevention is quite competitive, offering extensive threat detection and prevention capabilities, though it is priced higher than some alternatives."
"The pricing and the licensing are pretty competitive at this stage. As a reseller, I would like to see the price come down a little bit so I can compete better against other firewalls because we do that all the time."
"There is an initial, expensive investment but the return is good."
"The pricing has improved with the newer generation of their Firewalls, but the price could always be lower."
"TTPS is reasonably priced."
