Helpful dashboard, and the ElasticSearch feature helps to identify problematic components
Savision continuously develops new modules to allow further integration, so the only item would continue with this effort to allow more-and-more systems to integrate into this platform. Perhaps more focus can be done on the CMDB portion and bi-directional communication to the ITSM system, but this is a small portion.

Splunk APM is a robust tool with many capabilities. There are always areas for potential improvement to enhance its functionality and user experience. For Splunk APM, there could be simplified navigation, like streamlining the user interface to make navigation more intuitive for our users, especially those new to APM, which can enhance usability. We can provide more customization options for dashboards and visualizations to help users tailor the platform to their specific needs. There could be more integration capabilities with a wider range of third-party tools and platforms would also be beneficial. By focusing on these areas, Splunk APM can enhance its value proposition, improve user satisfaction, and better meet the evolving needs of organizations monitoring their application performance.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"This helps to centralize multiple monitoring solutions and streamline integration into ITSM."
"It's beneficial for monitoring performance and infrastructure, especially when deploying applications with multiple versions with Git."
"Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring gives us complete visibility without the need for storage."
"It supports proactive management, enhances security, and improves operational efficiency."
"This solution is very quick to deploy as it is a SaaS solution and integrates with tools like ServiceNow."
"Splunk APM has helped us to standardize logging and monitoring procedures."
"Dashboards help the application support teams to have a quick look at how their systems are running. It helps other teams as well."
"The features are pretty much ready out of the box."
"The volume it handles is very good, including the number of metrics, the volume number of traces, and more."

Cons

"Perhaps more focus can be done on the CMDB portion and bi-directional communication to the ITSM system, but this is a small portion."
"Splunk would be better if some tools were integrated to be able to take action on security or network concerns."
"The cost needs to be re-examined. It's extremely expensive to run. It's also expensive to expand. That's the number one complaint all of my customers have when it comes to Splunk. It's way too expensive compared to other solutions."
"A lot of customers had a hard time effectively searching within the data in Splunk. There is a learning curve from searches to indexes and using all the macros that we have created. It is a little difficult for somebody who has not used it quite a bit and does not have a lot of practice with it, but the AI features that we have been hearing about through Splunk will make it a lot easier for us to use human language to search this data. That is big. That is pretty powerful, and that will help a lot with our customers."
"They can improve the flow system and the keyword language. It has predefined keywords, but they can be improved."
"The monitoring of workloads when using SignalFx could be improved."
"It is essential for the monitoring tool to deliver quick response times when generating analytical reports, instead of prolonged delays."
"In the next release, I would like to see more integration with other solutions."
"It's a bit difficult to use. It takes some time to get into it and to get it to do what you would like it to do. It is not straightforward to use it."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"Splunk has been fairly expensive, but it has been predictable."
"I would rate the price of Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring as an eight out of ten, with ten being the most expensive."
"It is expensive."
"I am not in that circle, but we are currently licensing based on our queries. That is working out for us. Previously, it was by volume of data, and now, we can store as much data as we want."
"This is an expensive solution."
"The price of Splunk APM is less than some of its competitors."
"Licensing cost is the biggest argument I get from those divesting from Splunk. There are those within our organization who say we are going to go to other tools since Splunk is too expensive."
"Splunk's infrastructure monitoring costs can be high because our billing is based on data volume measured in terabytes, rather than the number of devices being monitored."
