We use Windows 10 as a client to run all the software we develop in-house. It is a development platform for the software we're developing here. We also use it for web and email.

It's ubiquitous, so everyone can use it
Pros and Cons
- "Windows 10 is ubiquitous, so everyone knows how to use it."
- "I would like the updates to be less intrusive. It would be great if Windows could update without restarting. They've made some improvements in that regard, but there is still some room to do better. I would still like monthly updates, but it would be nice if I didn't need to tell everyone to log out and save their work because their computer needs to be rebooted."

What is most valuable?
Windows 10 is ubiquitous, so everyone knows how to use it.
What needs improvement?
I would like the updates to be less intrusive. It would be great if Windows could update without restarting. They've made some improvements in that regard, but there is still some room to do better. I would still like monthly updates, but it would be nice if I didn't need to tell everyone to log out and save their work because their computer needs to be rebooted.
I could also do without the advertising and notifications in the default browser. It's annoying. One of the first changes we make is to switch off those extra distractions that it tries to put in there.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have used Windows 10 since it came out.

How was the initial setup?
Setting up Windows is straightforward. We usually buy it preloaded, so there isn't much to do.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Windows 10 is included with the computers we buy, so I'm unsure how that breaks down. When I worked for an OEM years ago, I know that OEM licenses were quite cheap, but I don't know if that has changed since then.
What other advice do I have?
I rate Windows 10 nine out of 10. My suggestion to people who plan to use Windows 10 is to disable all the notifications and advertising that are enabled by default, like the news, weather, etc.

A robust operating system for the client side
Pros and Cons
- "Windows 10 Professional or Enterprise is a very robust operating system for the client side."
- "The solution's pricing could be a little cheaper."
What is our primary use case?
I use Windows 10 for my private purposes, even after buying Windows 11, because this is the usual path for using the operating system generated on the client side.
What is most valuable?
Windows 10 Professional or Enterprise is a very robust operating system for the client side.
What needs improvement?
The solution's pricing could be a little cheaper.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Windows 10 from the beginning, of course, when it appeared on the market.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I rate the stability of the latest version of the solution ten out of ten.
How was the initial setup?
The solution’s initial setup is very easy.
What about the implementation team?
Depending on how you use it, the installation can take 50 minutes in some cases. In an unusual case, the solution might be installed in half an hour.
If you're using older hardware, the deployment will be a much longer process. The process is really easy if you use hardware matching the driver requirements from the Windows 10 environment. You have to manually input the information about the PC's name and set up the region, settings, clock, etc. After that, you must install the driver.
What other advice do I have?
The solution provides a very high security framework that benefits our organization. I have been lucky to have the solution's compatibility with my client's hardware, such as laptops and notebooks. So, the deployment process is very easy. Windows 10 is a very straightforward, capable, and reliable operating system. However, it will be outdated in the future.
Overall, I rate the solution ten out of ten.

A highly scalable and user-friendly operating system for workstations in corporate offices
Pros and Cons
- "Windows 10 is a user-friendly operating system."
- "The solution should improve the updates because the computers have a boot error whenever they release an upgrade."
What is our primary use case?
We used Windows 10 for workstations on operations or corporate offices.
What is most valuable?
Windows 10 is a user-friendly operating system.
What needs improvement?
The solution should improve the updates because the computers have a boot error whenever they release an upgrade.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Windows 10 for three years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
We sometimes couldn't operate the system because of the error on updates.
I rate the solution a nine out of ten for stability.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Less than 1,000 users were using the solution in our organization.
I rate Windows 10 ten out of ten for scalability.
What about the implementation team?
The solution's installation and configuration took around one hour. We deploy the solution manually. Since we don't have automatic deployment, we install the operating system one step at a time.
What was our ROI?
Since Windows 10 is the only operating system we use, it is very useful for us in the office to run all applications.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
We pay a licensing fee for Windows 10, which is too expensive.
What other advice do I have?
Overall, I rate the solution ten out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises

Has an inbuilt antivirus in place, but needs to work on making the updates more user-friendly
Pros and Cons
- "With Windows 10, unlike the earlier versions, you have Defender, which is an added advantage."
- "The updates are not user-friendly."
What is our primary use case?
I deployed the solution for some of the end users. I also use it for communication purposes and run different pieces of software on it.
What is most valuable?
With Windows 10, unlike the earlier versions, you have Defender, which is an added advantage. You don't have to go for an antivirus solution separately since it is inbuilt and works. Also, since one can manage networks or domains, it's easier to manage clients.
What needs improvement?
The solution's updates are an area where the solution needs to improve. The updates are a painful thing at times because they are done without testing before the releases. I have to block the updates and Windows patches.
Speaking about the features I want to see in the future, right now, the updates which are on Windows are not deleted. It occupies a huge space in terms of GB unless manually removed from the system. They used to remove the older versions, which were not applicable, but now this is not happening. It just occupies space in the system.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using the solution since its launch.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Stability-wise, I rate the solution a six out of ten since sometimes it causes some trouble.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It's quite okay with upgrades, but otherwise, it automatically slows down the machine. Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a six out of ten. We use Windows 10 on a daily basis in our organization.
How are customer service and support?
Some of the logs we sent were accepted, while others do not identify the actual issue or agree with the issue. I rate the technical support a seven out of ten.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Neutral
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I previously used some other solutions, and I switched to Windows 10 because of the Microsoft's input.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup was okay. The deployment is fine. As long as you have an image, it can be done at a fast pace. The deployment can be done in thirty minutes to an hour.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
On a scale of one to ten, where one is the lowest price possible and ten is the highest, I rate its pricing five since it's quite overpriced.
What other advice do I have?
I would urge others planning to use the solution to watch out for problems. With every update, there's something that is coming into its bundle, and as you analyze, it becomes difficult to run a larger number of operations.
The updates are not user-friendly because they do not show that they will not be removed from the system automatically like the previous versions of Windows. It has to be done manually. The space it occupies is too much, especially in terms of GB.
I rate the overall solution a seven out of ten.

Senior Officer at a financial services firm with 1,001-5,000 employees
User-friendly, runs on multiple PCs and local support is easy to find
Pros and Cons
- "The product is user-friendly and runs on multiple PCs."
- "Features don't work correctly sometimes due to bugs."
What is our primary use case?
I use the built-in features of the solution. I utilize the resources to simulate different types of labs. Virtualization is another primary use case.
What is most valuable?
The built-in Recorder helps record and store sessions that can be used afterward. The product is more user-friendly than its competitors, like Linux.
What needs improvement?
The updates keep coming in, and the frequency of Windows Updates can be reduced. Sometimes there are bugs. This makes some features not work correctly. Applications in Windows 10 also hang sometimes.
In the future, they should check thoroughly for bugs before releasing the update.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using the solution for three to four years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I would rate the stability an eight out of ten. The updates and patch management need to be improved.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I would rate the scalability a nine out of ten.
85% of my bank uses it.
How are customer service and support?
I would rate technical support a seven out of ten. Sometimes we take help directly from Microsoft, otherwise from local vendors. It takes a long time for a ticket to get processed.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is quite simple.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The product is reasonably priced; it's neither too high nor too low.
What other advice do I have?
One licensed Windows 10 product can be obtained for multiple PCs; this is a significant advantage over competitors.
I would overall rate this product a ten out of ten. This is mainly due to its superior user-friendliness. For Windows 10, local support can be found easily in my area, which is another reason for my rating.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Group DWH and BI Senior Manager at Virgin Mobile Middle East and Africa
User friendly, easy to use, and straightforward installation
Pros and Cons
- "Windows 10 is user-friendly and easy to use, these are the most valuable features."
- "The security needs to improve."
What is our primary use case?
In my organization, we have developers using mostly Mac systems, for databases we use Linux systems, and everyone else is using Windows 10 systems. We are using Windows 10 as a general operating system.
What is most valuable?
Windows 10 is user-friendly and easy to use, these are the most valuable features.
What needs improvement?
The security needs to improve.
For how long have I used the solution?
We have been using Windows 10 for approximately nine years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The stability of this solution depends on many variables, such as the type of usage. If you using it at a bare minimum you will not find any issues, but if you are installing multiple applications and running them at the same time you could run into some problems, such as system underperformance. However, it can depend on the hardware you have installed. You cannot specifically say how the operating system performing without having the other details about configuration and hardware, there are too many variables involved that might be unrelated to the operating system performance.
When comparing Windows 10 and Linux, Linux is more sophisticated when it comes to security and being stable, making it the ideal choice for many servers today.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
We have approximately 140 people using Windows 10 systems in my organization.
How are customer service and technical support?
We do not typically immediately reach out to contact Microsoft technical support. Most of the issues that we face can be solved online. There are quite a lot of articles and help material online where there are many people providing guidance or support for most issues that you encounter. This is not related to commercial technical support.
We have not experienced a lot of trouble with our desktop systems. We only contact technical support on the server level related to security.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We were previously using Windows 7.
How was the initial setup?
The installation is straightforward. You can do it without knowing anything about the solution. However, the difficulty can also depend on the use cases. If someone wants to add features to it or maybe split the hardware's constraints it can get a little technical.
The full installation takes approximately 30 minutes.
What about the implementation team?
I did the implementation of the solution.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
I have evaluated Mac and Linux operating systems.
What other advice do I have?
In the market, we are limited to Microsoft, Linux, or Mac. Mac is only on Apple and all their propriety products and Linux is mostly for database servers. Microsoft is a market-leading company and provides a very user-friendly environment in Windows 10 and I would recommend this solution to others.
I rate Windows 10 a nine out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises
