I haven't used any of the Amazon Web Services personally but from what I know, they usually offer their features only for their own product. If you're looking for a more universal cloud storage gateway, I think NetApp AltaVault may do the job for you. I've used this on two separate jobs before and one right now and I can tell you it's quite good, compared to competitors and on its own. I'm not sure why you're asking if AWS Storage Gateway is only for AWS, you may be using a different cloud? But AltaVault works not only for AWS but also as well as other popular cloud services so it's pretty versatile on top of being quite reliable.
