Our company is currently evaluating vBlock as a potential hardware solution for our SAP environment. We currently have this environment hosted with a company in North Carolina and our Go-live on ECC and BW is in September of this year.
We have our environment currently running on Windows and SQL database and eventually would like to move the environment to SAP's Hana DB.
Our main concerns are right now is the scalability of the vBlock and overall cost. Regarding scalability, we plan on adding many new modules to the environment and we don't know what that Landscape will look like.
Any guidance you can give on this topic would be appreciated.
We have just finished an implementation of SAP on Vblock 340 with great success for a 5000+ manufacturing company. There has been no problem coping with the load and we plan to run most of the companies compute and storage on the same replicated 2 Vblocks. Further expansions are planned during the next two years as legacy systems are migrated. These expansions will add disk and compute capacity to the original systems.
We purchased the Vblock as part of our virtual desktop project. It certainly is scalable as a storage solution. It has had 100% reliability. There are other storage solutions on the market that can compete with the EMC storage portion of the Vblock. If you are wanting the all in one of the network/storage/VMware then I highly recommend it.
