Hi peers,
Aside from dashboards, there are some use cases that require a fair amount of detailed data, with customizable sort and display fields which can vary by account.
This is in the insurance, healthcare, benefits space in particular.
While advanced visualization features help on the dashboard side of the equation, I would like to get the opinion on the best tools for this detailed, customizable Excel-like supporting data that can be offered in a self-service ad hoc or high-volume production environment.
Please share your thoughts!
Thanks.
PowerBI and Tableau are great self-service BI data discovery and visualization tools but not the kind of reporting you describe.
I would recommend SAP BusinessObjects Web Intelligence which is widely used for this purpose by many organizations in the insurance/healthcare/benefits space.
MS Power BI has many useful "pivot" and "filter" features that are exploited by a number of third party Financal Consolidation and Reporting solutions which have chosen to develop 'data selection and export tools' rather than any unique Dashboarding and/or Graphical capabilities for themselves.
XLCubed provides dimensional modelling capabilities for Excel-connected datasets to enable "slice and dice" as well as "ranking" and "drill through functionalities" dependent upon self-selection requirments of end-Users running against "live" datasets.
The "how to" product training 3-4min videos together with "hints and tips" are remarkably intuative and simple to understand which make solution learning an enjoyable process. The ability for Users to share Web Reporting templates enables standardisation and effectiveness in either ad-hoc or high production environments.
Importantly, XLCubed Charts and Tables use the 'best practice' visualisation approach of the International Business Communications Standards (IBCS), of which XLCubed are a certified provider. With origins in MS Analysis services XLCubed can now connect to, in addition to MS Power BI, a wide range of data sources TM1, Hana, and many more.
XLCubed (now owned by Fluence Technologies Inc) is the market-leading Reporting and Dashboard tool for any Excel-connected data.
With entry-level pricing and straightforward feature explanations via online training materials, XLCubed can be implemented as either a standalone cloud-based BI tool or as part of today's world-beating Financial Consolidation and Reporting solution.
Tabular or matrix view is just a way to visualise raw data. Most popular BI visualisation tools offer both these visuals. Don't let the visuals define the requirement, let the action-driven insights drive the best visuals for a particular use case.
Tableau is perfect for this and comes with around a hundred native connectors and no extra cost is required.
Hi Mr. @Frank Bianchi,
Yes, you can do that but only on Professional or Enterprise Plan.
Also, you can link to Power BI and generate some different views.
@Jose Barbosa thanks for your answer. When you have mentioned the Professional and Enterprise plans, which tool/product did you mean?
