It's a cost-effective solution. Our company conducted extensive market research for enterprise solutions but found Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure to be the most affordable and suitable for our organization.
Reconsidering the licensing packages could reduce the price, especially for companies that may not need all the bells and whistles. Many of the features are based on open-source software, so there's potential to offer more flexible pricing options. Additionally, with the right expertise, companies could potentially create similar environments themselves, reducing the need for extensive support and licensing costs. I rate its pricing a six out of ten. The tool costs around 300,000 dollars per year.
Nutanix can be expensive. I would rate the price seven out of ten with ten being the most expensive. While the licensing is good, it's important to note that Nutanix offers five-year licenses. After five years, the product reaches end-of-life and requires new hardware purchases to continue using it.
Nutanix is less expensive than VMware, for example. It's economical for a mid-range organization. It's very customer-friendly in terms of support as well. They offer pretty good loyalty to their existing customers. The solution is set up as a subscription model.

Its licensing is fine. They provide the flexibility to choose from different options. You can go with the standard plan. You can go with the pro or platinum plan. Generally, our clients go with the pro licenses, but if you go for the platinum license, you get even more capabilities. Their starter license is also quite good. About 95% of our clients go for the pro license, but we also have some clients who do not need enterprise-level features, so they go for the starter or standard license. They do not need to pay anything extra in addition to the standard licensing fee.
NCI is quite expensive compared to other products. It would help us if Nutanix considered affordability when releasing new products. We have an annual license and are considering extending it for another year.
The overall cost depends on the contract of each customer and the discounts they have, but the price for the three-tier architecture can be slightly lower. The license cost increases based on the log capacity.

Pricing is not my area of expertise. But the license is quite clear to me. It's much clearer than what we had with our previous virtualization environment. The licensing is not complex to understand. I have added some hardware recently and we got the licenses added for it. That was quite simple and very straightforward.
AHV is free of cost. If we went for VMware and other hypervisors, we would need to pay for the hypervisor license. Whereas, Nutanix is providing the AHV license for free. Cost-wise, it is very good. It is like the hypervisor cost is not there. We only need to pay for the system and AOS licenses. Updating or configuring the licensing is very easy. We can take the licensed file and use it to update the portal. You download it, then upload it to the cluster. So, the management is very easy.
Well, pricing is a sure way to disregard great technology.
If it’s the only angle Leadership is taking, it’s a missed opportunity. I don’t mean expensive stuff is always good, far from that.
But when crunching numbers is your thing:
If you look at hardware prices you will see that the only special component to Nutanix is the boot disks. So, getting supermicro servers will be complementary to NX hardware.
Reducing that price from an NX cluster will give you the software and support costs.
The latter is what gives you an edge on every other platform regarding HCI. Their support outshines VMware or such.
They tackle every bump you will encounter and solve it. And it doesn’t matter what hypervisor you chose.
Support is the main reason to stay with Nutanix. Of course, they get glitches with updates, everyone does. But I am confident in doing upgrades/updates with their products.
The other side of a software solution is constantly new features for free (okay, pre-paid).
We hardly did upgrades with VMware. It's just too much anxiety.
You have two Nutanix Acropolis AOS license models. One model is coupled with the hardware appliance, e.g. it's the appliance approach, depending on the vendor: HP, Dell, and Supermicro carry these appliance permit licenses. The other model is the software only model. We had the first model that was coupled with the hardware from a vendor. For Nutanix Acropolis AOS itself, the pricing was okay, especially because of its features and how you can use it for a lot of hypervisor technologies. The cost, however, when coupled with the hardware vendor was high. On our project, the renewal was from the hardware vendor and it was expensive. The software was okay, e.g. it had normal pricing. You can choose to pay the license yearly, or you can pay every three years, or every five years. It depends on how deep your pocket is.

The price of the license for Nutanix Acropolis AOS is less expensive than the competition. There is a favorable cost saving. Having only the need to deal with a single vendor, the management of the customer's entire stack is cost-effective. I believe Nutanix has started a subscription-based model. We will need to pay separately for parts of Nutanix. However, I have not explored it and it could still only be a non-subscription-based model at this time. I would rate the price of Nutanix Acropolis AOS a three out of five.

The one disadvantage is relative, financially Nutanix Acropolis AOS is a little bit more expensive than the old solution. Nutanix owns the hosting, servers, and licenses. You purchase the whole product as a bundle, and you can have support for it.

Its licensing model is easy, but the bad thing is that we need to pay for the whole capacity at once. With VMware vSAN, we only have to pay for the capacity that we are using, which is not the case with Nutanix. So, we have more overhead for the licensing cost with Nutanix.
Pricing could be improved especially with the effects of the pandemic, where the IT sector is not doing so well. Nutanix is relatively new to the industry and if they want to promote it they will need to reduce the cost.
The pricing is quite good in comparison with HPE SimpliVity, Nutanix Scale, and even traditional architecture. We found Nutanix's pricing to be the best. We did not incur license fees as we did with HPE Simplivity's VMware licenses, so this kept the costs down.

There is a license required for this solution and my clients usually purchase a two-year license with extended support. The price of the solution could be reduced, it is more expensive than competitors. You are able to receive some discounts if you meet certain criteria that make the price more comparable to others. However, the discounts tend to be difficult to qualify for.
The pricing of Nutanix is not cheap but there are options available. Don't cut short on support contracts, as the (pricey) ultimate support offering is worth every buck. You have to realize that Nutanix AOS is the basic platform for your environment. If you need to cut costs then use Nutanix AHV as a hypervisor free of charge. Most applications are running with that. If it runs on ESXi then it most likely runs on AHV, but check with your other application vendors.
Never lock your self with a specific vendor. if you are considering vXRail, for example, you need to pay attention that you will be locked in so financially speaking if you have an expansion, you can do it with Dell only leaving no space for healthy pricing competition & don't be surprised if they don't give you the same initial discount because simply you are already locked in! & The same goes for VMware, you would be locked in with VMware only. VMware license nowadays is not cheap, it's costly so eventually, you will find your annual spending are exceeding your budget and you no option but to buy from them. If you are a new customer to Nutanix start with a Cloud Bundle; they are very cost-effective and they can fit any requirement.
The pricing from my experience is, unfortunately, a necessary evil, however, the initial setup cost could be a waste, depending on your comfort and skill level. I say comfort first because the setup is actually very easy and straightforward once you understand the foundation process. It would really depend on your experience and comfort moving to new infrastructures.
One of the major problems with IT in South Africa is that licensing fees are 14 times more expensive than anywhere in the world. This is due to the rand/dollar exchange rate. If I remember correctly, our licensing fee on the total setup was about R900,000. There are no additional costs. The only additional things we added to the system was Commvault for additional backup services for the cluster.
Pricing varies greatly between license and editions. The license also changes in by number of users. So, it's a little difficult to calculate the license cost.
I don’t have any figures available at the moment. Nutanix is most attractive when comparing the full cost (TCO) including CAPEX and also OPEX. Regarding licensing, we most commonly sell the pro license which covers the vast majority of customer user cases. It is especially interesting to see the development of customers starting to see the included KVM based hypervisor (Acropolis) which results in significant cost savings for hypervisor licensing (e.g. vSphere or Hyper-V) depending on the customer use case.

The initial cost is affordable but the renewal fees are high.
It is not cheap, but if you look at the return on investment and the total cost of ownership, it is worth the price.
If they could further reduce the cost, that would be great. I would like to see the cost be less than the equivalent three-tier architecture.

Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure could be cheaper. It's costly to upgrade the solution. There are no additional costs aside from the license.
Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure’s pricing is very good and competitive.
The product’s licensing fee is moderately expensive.
Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure's pricing is higher now. I think Nutanix is trying to make the whole ecosystem look simple.
Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure's core licensing needs to have an upper limit since processors are coming out with incredible numbers of cores on them.
The overall cost depends on the contract of each customer and the discounts they have, but the price for the three-tier architecture can be slightly lower. The license cost increases based on the log capacity.

The price of the solution is expensive. However, the price to performance is good. The cost for development and installation is very low.
VMware licenses are quite expensive. Customers are getting cost benefits while using Nutanix. The licenses are billed annually.

I can't speak to the pricing aspect of the solution. I was not exposed to that part of the product.
We did not require licenses because we already used Nutanix, so we only need to buy the software.
Pricing could be improved especially with the effects of the pandemic, where the IT sector is not doing so well. Nutanix is relatively new to the industry and if they want to promote it they will need to reduce the cost.

Typically, clients pay a yearly license fee.
The price of the solution is high.
There are three variants in AOS pricing.

Nutanix is cheaper than Cisco HyperFlex, although it depends on the configuration because Nutanix can also be expensive.
The pricing is fair for the package.
The setup cost, pricing, and licensing are very competitive and TCO is very low compared to three-tier solutions.
My advice is to get the ultimate license, as it is worth it.
Between VMware and Nutanix, the price of VMware is lower. In comparison, Nutanix is pricey.
Its price is fine. I can't really complain about that.
This product is less expensive than some of the competing HCI solutions.
The licensing costs are a bit expensive but when you compare the features, it's reasonable.

AHV is free! This is a great feature that should be taken advantage of.
The solution is very expensive.
I'm not sure what the pricing on the solution is.
Some clients think the solution is quite expensive.
The solution is very cost-effective.
I don't think I know. I think it's cheaper than VMware in terms of cost.
