ABBYY Vantage needs to incorporate interfaces similar to cloud and OpenAI chat to streamline workflows. Simplifying workflow creation by chatting with the system rather than dragging and dropping elements would make the platform more user-friendly, especially for non-technical users.

I would like better language support for Hebrew and Arabic. They're still working on that, and we might get an update by the end of this year. There is currently no support for those two languages because they write from the right to the left side. It would be great if they could add this as soon as possible because we have customers from the Middle East and Israel. We might need more machine learning or cluster things for ABBYY to learn from that and improve accuracy. There's a difference when you go into the invoices. If you have one template, we need one sample to clean it, but a purchase order may need a minimum of five samples. That's something I've noticed, but they might need to improve the machine learning. Generally, ABBYY's accuracy is better than other tools.
While I understand that ABBYY eventually addressed the communication issue and apologized for it, the initial lack of response was frustrating. A simple explanation at the beginning could have prevented the whole problem. In my opinion, clear communication is the most important aspect of any service. Even if a company has a less-than-perfect product, I, as a customer, have chosen them for a reason. That's why I believe the best thing a supplier can do is prioritize communication, even if it's just automated responses acknowledging receipt of a message and providing an estimated response time. This is where ABBYY initially fell short, but things improved significantly once a director got involved. The lack of patch update notifications creates a blind spot. Without them, we're unaware of new patches and can't proactively check if our code is compatible, potentially leading to issues down the line.
ABBYY's support model could be improved because we get some complaints from customers regarding the amount of time it takes and the kind of responses we get. They also need to improve their professional services team and train them to support customers better during custom implementations.

Since we are using a trial version, we don't have administration access to create a tenant to integrate my OCR series with Postman. Right now, we are doing one POC, and to complete that POC, we need that access because it's a requirement.
The handwritten recognition has room for improvement. ABBYY Vantage is mainly available on the public cloud but for clients that use a private cloud, it is complicated to set up the solution.

One major area that requires improvement in ABBYY Vantage is its current JSON output format. We expect an upgrade from ABBYY that will offer XML or CSV formats. In FlexiCapture, we can download the output in a CSV format. In Vantage, we receive the output in JSON format. Then, we need to extract the JSON output and use various APIs to convert it to an Excel format, which can be troublesome. Therefore, we hope that ABBYY will address this concern with an upgrade. As of now, ABBYY Vantage is working fine. I want the solution to have a very good pre-trained model that can be trained using only two to three documents for new templates instead of the current requirement of ten documents for different templates. That kind of smart pre-trained model is what I want in ABBYY. ABBYY already has a pre-trained model, but they need more because they only have three to four at present. Make additional models for different areas so that the solution can detect information not just from tables or documents but also directly from images.
The price for trainings or certifications are on the very, very high side. For example, if you want to get a certification, it might cost around 200 pounds for a six-hour course. The price is too high, in particular for typical development countries like Poland, Portugal, India, and the Philippines. As a result, it is not easy to get developers for when we are implementing projects.
The integration with UiPath is not good. I would like to see more documentation and guides to help gain more in-depth knowledge of how to use ABBYY FlexiCapture.
The overall integration could be better. For example, the modelling, classification and handwritten information are not great. From my perspective, Hyperscience does the handwritten processes a lot better than ABBYY Vantage. Additionally, the overall end-to-end processes experience can also be improved in terms of how information is fed to ABBYY. By having the overall process flow built with ABBYY Vantage, it can hold up as an independent tool.

It could be more intuitive. It's huge and has many options, and that makes it difficult. You have to go to Google and search for documents and videos to try and understand how it works. Some tools or processes or some parts of the process should be intuitive to make it easier for the developers. Many of these tools are divided into many parts. You have to buy different parts, and you have to know the difference between features. Sometimes it's difficult for the developer because you don't have the old information available in cleartext. These things need extra plugins to try and collect the different parts in different ways. It would also help if they improved the engine for ICR. I know that people improved this tool, but it's not expanded right now. We need to use an additional plugin to design or code some parts using a toolkit. It's not properly included in the standard package.

There has always been a challenge with Word and PDF reading capabilities. This is an area that needs improvement. There are certain controls like radio buttons and checkboxes that when reading PDFs, really doesn't go well with the RPA.
ABBYY Vantage is an industry-leading low-code Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) platform that uses state-of-the-art AI and machine learning to automate document-centric business processes.
Businesses use Vantage to efficiently and reliably automate the manual, error-prone tasks of capturing and extracting data from documents, so they can immediately deliver accurate, process-ready content into their business systems—RPA, BPM, ERP, etc., and improve decision-making and insights....

It would be good if the product provided an AI-based prebuilt model that predicts and gives output. We can then verify and make changes if necessary.
