Determining the "best" firewall in terms of security can be subjective and highly dependent on your specific requirements and environment. These two firewall solutions you mentioned, Fortinet FortiGate and Palo Alto Networks NG Firewalls, are reputable and offer robust security features. The choice between them depends on various factors, including your organization's size, budget, technical expertise, and specific security needs.
When it comes to the best security, Fortinet FortiGate generally has an edge due to its advanced threat detection capabilities, comprehensive security features, and extensive integration options. Its security efficacy is well-regarded in enterprise environments. However, the best choice may vary depending on specific organizational needs and deployment contexts.
I can only agree to the answers given below. This question can't be seriously answered without additional context. In a nutshell: 1) Know your threads. 2) Weight them with respect to potential damage 3) Identify the best matching product. But, after years of experience working with different firewall products in cloud projects with variying sizes and very different approaches to security in company culture my most important message here is: "A fool with a tool is still a fool". No firewall of the ones mentioned in your question is inherently insecure or lightyears ahead in technology. Much more depends on how it is operated, and monitored and on good procedures after an security incident occured. This aspect easily irons out advantages that one product may have above the other.
I think the right question should be "What solution best fits my security policy?" The ultimate goal is to be clear about what I should protect and how I should respond from a cybersecurity perspective. All solutions are good if implemented in the right context.
Miercom is a leading independent test and validation organization that recently tested the security effectiveness of the industry’s top four enterprise firewall vendors. Miercom challenged all four vendor solutions with a wide range of malware, phishing and attack vectors. Check Point led in all categories by achieving a 99.7% malware block rate, 99.9% phishing prevention rate, and ultra-low 0.1% False Positive Detection rate.
I would say Palo Alto is the best but it depends on your budget. You can read on this link more on comparison https://www.esecurityplanet.co...
I have read many times about Fortigate being hacked. Like below article showed how vulnerable Fortigate is. https://therecord.media/fortig... Where I work we use Fortigate and Cisco. Fortigate is easy to learn and price is better.
Firewalls are essential components of network security, acting as barriers between secure internal networks and potentially hazardous external connections. These tools monitor and control incoming and outgoing network traffic based on predetermined security rules.

Most firewalls are much of muchness...
The real difference or value comes from the resellers skill. I'd lean towards Check Point firewalls for the ease of use and threat cloud...

Hello, According to me you should get Check Point NGFW as it offers much more security than FortiGate and Palo Alto.

ok. Thanks.
In small organization which is under 80 employees you can be go with forti otherwise Palo Alto is a better
Cost efficiency wise Fortinet, if cost is no bar, then Palo Alto.
(I am obviously biased, but...)

Security policies and VLANs can be easily created with the Fortinet firewall, which is more secure.
