With modern cloud applications, you usually get standardized APIs out of the box, in most cases these are simple to use Rest-APIs. But in order to connect applications, you still need some kind of middleware (or API management layer) to implement workflows that move data from one app to the other, or trigger subsequent processes. A good API management tool has prebuilt connectors to many applications and makes it very easy to build cross-application workflows, in many cases no-code or low-code options will do. With a good API management platform, companies can integrate their app landscape and make a huge step forward in the digital business domain.

API Management tools are important for companies because they provide a centralized platform to manage, monitor, and secure APIs, enabling efficient and effective API usage. Here are some of the other advantages API Management tools have to offer: -Improved developer experience: API management tools offer developer portals with documentation, code samples, and interactive features, making it easier for developers to understand and use APIs. -Enhanced security: These tools provide authentication, authorization, and encryption mechanisms to protect APIs and ensure secure data transmission. -Increased scalability: API management tools enable companies to handle high API traffic loads by providing caching, rate limiting, and load balancing features. -Better analytics and monitoring: These tools offer real-time analytics and monitoring capabilities, allowing companies to track API usage, identify performance issues, and make data-driven decisions. -Simplified integration: API management tools provide features like transformation, mediation, and orchestration, making it easier to integrate different systems and applications. -Monetization opportunities: Some API management tools offer monetization features, allowing companies to generate revenue by exposing and selling their APIs to external developers or partners. -Regulatory compliance: These tools help companies comply with data protection regulations by providing features like consent management, data masking, and audit trails. -Collaboration and control: API management tools enable companies to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, control access to APIs, and manage versioning and lifecycle of APIs.
