Gartner recently released the 2015 Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence and Analytics Platforms. In its report, Gartner identified Alteryx as an analytics platform targeted at business users. According to Gartner, Alteryx earned the highest score in the report for its self-service data preparation capability. Furthermore, it also received the third highest score for ease of use in content creation, but "still has the greatest ability to solve complex questions" (according to the customer survey for this Magic Quadrant).
Alteryx's weaknesses include "clear limitations in areas such as reporting, dashboards, mobile — BI content visualization and delivery in general, plus metadata management and BI platform administration", and thus Gartner recommends it as a complement to most tools.

I Believe Alteryx main value is Data blending and Data preparation. Having said that, it is very easy to use and does not require intensive training. Lastly, the apps available for users on the Alteryx portal make it a more compelling product for the savvy business Analyst.
