I work with Oracle Engineering System, which is the platform we use to run databases and applications for customers. We provide this platform to run applications on customer premises. We also sell products like Oracle Database, Oracle Active Data Guard, and Oracle GoldenGate. For customer requirements, I create solution sizing, ensuring the database replication and redundancy needs are met by using Oracle GoldenGate.

Oracle GoldenGate is beneficial for data replication and ensures secure data transport. We use it for database redundancy, and it is crucial for the replication of data. Additionally, Active Data Guard is an important feature for disaster recovery site applications, and we use other Oracle services like Oracle Diagnostic Pack and tuning pack.

We use GoldenGate for migrations, upgrades and when going from Oracle Spark to Linux, for example, so cross-platform. There are many use cases. We are customers of Oracle and I'm a DBA.

For small databases that are less than a terabyte, GoldenGate handles the migration well. You don't need much input so long as the processes don't upend. As soon as there's a problem, then, obviously, you need to diagnose it. It all depends on the scenario, on the size of the databases, whether you're doing schema replication, or table replication. We normally do the whole database, taking everything across. Finally, because this is an Oracle product, there is support available 24/7.

I utilize Oracle GoldenGate for data replication. It is set to a master-master pluggable database setup that serves as a container. This is then used from clones to provide test environments for various teams.

The solution is used for real-time data replication in our environment across RDBMS databases like SQL Server, DB2, Oracle, and SAP HANA. We also use it for Zero Downtime Migration. When an application has to run 24/7, we set up the application to a new server and a new database and keep it active 24/7.

The product is reliable for data integrity. We haven't had any data loss issues. The product does what it is supposed to do. It performs real-time replication without data loss. Most of our replication is unidirectional. When there are bidirectional replications, we use conflict detection and resolution. We can use the tool to define that one database has more priority on certain applications and another on others.

We use the product internally to cover one of our data synchronization needs. The use case is likely to be unique in the world.

The solution involves 3000 pharmacies distributed geographically on several islands and continents. Each pharmacy has an ERP for managing pharmacy operations (sales, purchases, logistics, etc.). And we are synchronizing all the data and transactions that are generated in the ERP, with a central database (Exadata).

Our use case is complex and with Oracle GoldenGate we are improving the efficiency of the data replication and mostly the maintenance and operations support. We are in the process of migrating the current solution (based on queuing and web services) to Oracle Goldengate. Our current data synchronization process is old and not efficient enough to deal with 3000 data sources.

With Oracle Goldengate, we have more control over the CDC phase, and we can improve our management process which is critical for us.

The areas we use for this product for is centralizing the collection of hospital data. In Saudi Arabia there are five special hospitals and each branch there is a local facility for data entry. Users enter data in the local database in their branches and the data is collected in a centralized database that is also in Saudi Arabia. These tools use criteria to identify cases that are similar in different hospital branches to help in diagnosis and treatment.

I am working on this project to serve as the administrator for the database. Before this, I joined a lot of projects, sometimes part-time, in Cairo and I gained 18 years of experience working on databases in the maritime ports in Arab countries and in hospitals in Arab countries, in Cairo, in Egypt, in Iraq, in parts of Spain and around the Arabian Sea. My primary responsibility is to make centralized data available.

I signed with Oracle to use GoldenGate for this project five months ago. I needed two or three months just to explore GoldenGate to get to know it and the features. There are many awesome features in GoldenGate and from what I see in the case studies, I need some more months of discovery to know what I think are the most valuable features. If you call me a month from now, I will be able to answer the question as to which of the excellent features are the most valuable. Right now it would be that I have confidence that GoldenGate can handle this extensive project.

I have used Oracle GoldenGate for a couple of different scenarios. One client wanted to keep their main database secure, so we set up GoldenGate to replicate data in a separate environment for reporting purposes. This allowed users to query the replicated data without directly accessing the main database. Another client needed real-time access to historical data without active data guards, so we implemented GoldenGate to enable querying of archived data from both Oracle and non-Oracle sources. 

The most valuable feature of Oracle GoldenGate is its cost-effectiveness compared to other solutions like Oracle Data Guard, especially for Oracle-to-non-Oracle replication scenarios. Secondly, its versatility in supporting data replication across different operating systems and platforms is highly valuable, making it the go-to tool for heterogeneous environments.

We use it for a project involving data integration from two distinct sources within our factory. One source was an Oracle database, while the other was a MySQL database. Additionally, we incorporated data from a cloud-based Teradata system that Oracle had acquired. Our task involved configuring the data to create a unified data warehouse.

It's an incredible tool, as it's quite impressive to construct the gateway. The process is surprisingly quick, and it has been around for a considerable period. I would say it operates seamlessly, eliminating the necessity for any data transformation or Excel-related tasks. You can simply input the data and retrieve it effortlessly. The gateway allows for easy management, providing clear insights. It's truly reliable and stands out as an excellent tool.
