Flexible with a fast and easy setup but needs better integration with frameworks
Pros and Cons
  • "It just added some flexibility. There was nothing that improved our coding standards, etc. because all of our UIs were functional before we tried it."
  • "Adding better integration with frameworks, particularly testing frameworks like Robot, would be of more value to customers and make their jobs easier."

What is our primary use case?

We were testing it as a user interface on various systems which we manage.

How has it helped my organization?

It just added some flexibility. There was nothing that improved our coding standards, etc. because all of our UIs were functional before we tried it.

What is most valuable?

If you ask me feature-wise, I don't think I have tested all the features there—around 40 to 60 percent— nor I was interested in doing do that because the trial was so short. However, there were a few devices that we did not want to procure but we found them within BrowserStack architecture when we tried it out. More than a feature, it was the hardware support that we were able to get through the interfaces. This helped us address a very rare requirement that had come up within our end customer's stack.

What needs improvement?

Adding better integration with frameworks, particularly testing frameworks like Robot, would be of more value to customers and make their jobs easier.

For how long have I used the solution?

I only used it for about two weeks during a 14-day trial period about four or five months ago.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This at least gave us good stability and the results that we saw were quite reasonable enough.

How was the initial setup?

It was easy enough. Because I come from an IT background and have done deployments of many solutions, it was quite simple. It didn't take more than 10-15 minutes on that day.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate BrowserStack a seven out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Private Cloud

Useful for cross-browser testing but has occasional connectivity issues
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature is that it provides parallel and cross-browser testing. It enables us to run tests on multiple browsers or devices simultaneously."
  • "BrowserStack should work on its Internet connectivity although issues only occur occasionally."

What is our primary use case?

Our clients provide us with the BrowserStack license to perform tests on certain devices. We perform mobile app testing on different devices since it is not possible for everyone to have all of the devices on hand.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is that it provides parallel and cross-browser testing. It enables us to run tests on multiple browsers or devices simultaneously. Geolocation and globalization testing are valuable as well.

What needs improvement?

In terms of improvement, BrowserStack should work on its Internet connectivity although issues only occur occasionally.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using BrowserStack for five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would rate the stability of BrowserStack a nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I would rate the scalability an eight out of ten although there are occasional connectivity issues. Our clients are both small and enterprise-size businesses.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support is very good and they provide online support directly to the customer.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

BrowserStack is very easy to set up and use. I would rate the easiness of the setup a nine out of ten. The deployment only takes a few minutes and it is done by our client, not our company.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

In terms of pricing, BrowserStack is more expensive than other tools.

What other advice do I have?

My advice to people who are considering using BrowserStack is that it is a very good and useful tool. I would recommend it. Overall, I would rate it an eight of out ten.

It makes it possible to verify my product in all the latest devices and different OS's.

What is most valuable?

I like the resolution of virtual browsers. Also running Javascript for autorun speed is superb.

How has it helped my organization?

As per my experience, we are not suppose to bound our product with particular devices/OS. BrowserStack makes it possible to verify my product in all latest devices and different OS.

What needs improvement?

I used it for a week an half. As I used it for compatibility testing only. I used it for mobile browsers as well as desktop browsers for different OS.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Sometimes the mobile devices can crash. But not I'm not sure about the particular steps to generate this issue.

How are customer service and technical support?

Hats off to their Customer Service. For automation set up, I call them multiple times, but they are very supportive.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I had some other options for cross browser testing, but I found this product easy to use.

How was the initial setup?

Initial set-up is easy, but if you start with automation, it's bit confusing and I found it tough to set-up. I required help from developers.

What about the implementation team?

Initial setup is easy, but if you start with automation, its bit confusing and I found it tough to setup. I required help from developers.

What was our ROI?

A step to great quality

What other advice do I have?

For UI testing it is easy to use. But for automation perspective, configuration is lil bit confusing for the first time user. They are doing great job by maintaining the performance of this product.

Helpful for testing and useful for different devices but not stable
Pros and Cons
  • "It's helpful for me to test on different devices."
  • "The solution is slow."

What is our primary use case?

I mainly use it for using cross-platform testing. For example, using different devices mainly with it. With our current brand, with BrowserStack, we don't have other features provided. That's the only feature that I could work on right now.

What is most valuable?

For BrowserStack, it's helpful for me to test on different devices. Currently, that's the only tool that we use for testing on different devices. I don't have other devices. I only have one Android and one iOS. Other aspect ratios of different devices couldn't be tested on only two devices. That's the main purpose right now for BrowserStack.

What needs improvement?

The solution is slow.

There are limitations to the product. For example, the only things that we could validate were APK files and IPA files. For them to support machines such as Windows and Mac, or if they could add more, that would be ideal.

The pricing is more expensive than other tools.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've dealt with the solution for more than a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I didn't appreciate much about the stability. There have been times that BrowserStack was really, really slow. That's why I am looking into a different tool.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I'm not sure about scalability. For BrowserStack currently, I only use it between Android and iOS platforms, however, I don't have the features wherein I could test on different types of machines as well, for example, testing on Windows and testing on Mac. That's a different platform as well. We also cater to web applications. In that manner, we couldn't validate web applications through BrowserStack. The only thing that we could validate was APK files and IPA files. That's the limitation of this product.

Four to five people use the solution currently.

How are customer service and support?

We didn't actually reach out to their technical support team yet.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I'm not sure if a different solution was used previously.

How was the initial setup?

I was not involved with the setup or deployment of the solution. I can't speak to how the process went.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing is very expensive. The licensing is yearly. I'm not handling the finances. I'm not sure about the cost. We have an annual plan for BrowserStack since we don't want to do a monthly bill. It's much more expensive compared to annual pricing.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I looked into LambdaTest. While currently I only have BrowserStack, I'm looking into migrating over to LambdaTest instead.

What other advice do I have?

We are customers.

We're not using the latest version of the solution. It's a previous version.

I'd rate the solution seven out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

A cloud web and mobile testing platform with full device capability
Pros and Cons
  • "I like that it offers full device capability."
  • "Customer support could be better. We tried to implement and explore this product with the vendor or reseller's help, but we haven't had any good response about the product."

What is our primary use case?

We're building two products at the same time. We're building web pages and building Android and iOS applications. After the building stage, we're going to translate it to automation. But right now, we're testing and proving tools to understand which one will work best in the future.

What is most valuable?

I like that it offers full device capability.

What needs improvement?

Customer support could be better. We tried to implement and explore this product with the vendor or reseller's help, but we haven't had any good response about the product.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup and configuration of this product are easy.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price is fine.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Sauce Labs and BrowserStack are very similar

What other advice do I have?

On a scale from one to ten, I would give BrowserStack a nine.

We were able to connect to our web-application without much additional configuration.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature was that it was very easy to connect to our web-application without much additional configuration. So we could do very quick checks to get fast feedback.

How has it helped my organization?

It helped us a lot to accomplish our testing related goals and helped to provide better service to our customer, but I don’t think that it changed our organization functioning that much.

What needs improvement?

I would like application performance improvement to be better as, for me, it looked a bit slow. For example, loading one page sometime took 10-15 seconds.

For how long have I used the solution?

Maybe about a year. We didn’t use it permanently, but from time to time when we needed to check how does UI look in different browsers.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

There were no issues with the deployment.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

There have been no issues with the stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

There have been no issues with the scalability.

How are customer service and technical support?

The application was very self-explanatory so I didn’t have to ask for technical support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

This was recommended and tried first by my colleague. I may have used some different solutions previously but I don’t recall them.

How was the initial setup?

There was no set-up as it is web application. You just open the page and connect it to our server.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

This was done by my colleague, I just got a user account from him.

What other advice do I have?

We needed to test our application in different browsers and BrowserStack had all the configurations we needed. There were some small issues though, but they haven’t prevented us from using the product. I think that product was easy to use. It was fast to start with it and didn’t need any additional technical knowledge.

We're able to share screenshots instantly, but it's not widely used enough by companies that could benefit from it.

Valuable Features:

SPEED! Very fast, every browser, everything you need.

Improvements to My Organization:

Sharing screenshots instantly and having quick, reliable VMs.

Room for Improvement:

Maybe advertise more? I know there are companies out there that would benefit greatly from your products.
