Reliable backup tool ensures quick restoration and peace of mind
I use Acronis for backups. I use it to back up to other drives on the network, back up the entire system, including system images of the Windows C drive and all the data drives. This is for a small business, just myself The reliable tool allows for quick restoration from backup copies, meaning I…

The analytics and reporting can be a bit overwhelming. I love the dashboards, but I find that I need to better understand PowerQuery—specifically when to turn it on and off and its limitations. It's similar to SharePoint in that regard. As a former SharePoint instructor, I know it like the back of my hand. The best thing about SharePoint is that it can do whatever you want; the worst part is also that it can do whatever you want. You really need to know what you want before diving in. Most people usually have a good idea of what they need. SharePoint offers a lot out of the box, but you can customize it further if you wish. However, customization often requires hiring someone, which can be risky since you never know if it will work as intended. On the other hand, PowerQuery can help bridge some of those gaps within Singularity. The challenge arises when you want to incorporate what you've done into dashboards and charts, as there are limitations. For instance, I want more clickable drill-down options that allow me to filter on specific sections of the data, but that's currently not possible. It’s not to say that improvements won’t come in the future; it's just that it feels a bit early at this stage. Additionally, I find some navigation features frustrating, like the back button in certain contexts. For example, if you open PowerQuery from a chart, it doesn't open in a new window or tab. Clicking the back button takes you all the way back to the previous state, causing you to lose whatever progress you made. However, I'm actively providing this feedback to my partner, Pro Circular, through whom we access SentinelOne. They take our input seriously, and I've been sharing my observations. They have their own views but are addressing the issues I raise. It's good to see that suggestions occasionally lead to updates and improvements.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Acronis schedules in the background and does incremental images so it doesn’t take forever to backup."
"The malware feature is most valuable."
"The reliable tool allows for quick restoration from backup copies, meaning I do not have to reload Windows or programs."
"The customer service and support are excellent."
"The overview is valuable. There are a lot of instances out there, but Singularity Complete cuts the noise down by giving us graphics and color-coding information instead of massive tech dumps. It helps us concentrate on what is actually needed versus just the noise."
"It recently stopped a ransomware attack at one of my clients, proving its reliability."
"The single pane of glass is probably the most valuable. That is a big one. We could see everything from one view."
"The detection rate for Sentinel One has been excellent and we have been able to resolve many potential threats with zero client impact. The ability to deploy via our RMM allows us to quickly secure new clients and provides peace of mind."
"The GUI is really easy to use."
"Malware detection is valuable."
"It provides network and asset visibility for us."
"The strength of SentinelOne is that it has an automated, active EDR. It does that first level of what a SOC analyst would do, automatically, using artificial intelligence, so we can focus on other things. Active EDR not only notifies you, but it actually fixes that first level. That is unheard of. Very few, if any, companies do that."

Cons

"I originally intended to use Acronis for cloud backup, however, the cloud backup had major problems. After struggling with it for about two years, I switched to Carbonite and have not gone back."
"I had a couple of false positives, but that’s it."
"I originally intended to use Acronis for cloud backup, however, the cloud backup had major problems."
"The configuration needs improvement."
"The overall integration functionality for this solution could be improved."
"One disadvantage of SentinelOne Singularity Complete is that the agent doesn't auto-update, and my company found it more complicated than usual to get the agent updated and keep it updated."
"The main area for improvement relates to Linux compatibility. When deploying on a Linux system, the process isn't as seamless compared to other operating systems."
"The biggest thing for me in terms of improvements is the online console. There are frequent updates, and sometimes we'll get a little agitated getting signed in."
"SentinelOne's performance and the accuracy of its incident filtering could be improved."
"The solution should include USB blocking for specific machines."
"Interoperability with other SentinelOne solutions and other third-party tools is an area where you can run into some issues. Because of the way the agent works, there are sometimes things that are blocked or prevented from happening that are not identified as a threat, and therefore, not alerted in the console. Sometimes, we do have to dig through the logs, run tests, and adjust the whitelisting or exclusions to make sure that other applications will run properly."
"I would appreciate it if they would consider providing a comprehensive vulnerability assessment report that goes beyond just application vulnerabilities."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"It's around $8 per client per month."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"The pricing is very fair for the solution they provide."
"There are cheaper options out there that I know are not as effective. I have administered several of them, not for this organization but for others. The thing I like about SentinelOne is that I know that if it raises an alert, it is worth looking at, so we are not dealing with a lot of false positives. It is rare."
"The pricing and licensing make sense."
"The pricing of the solution seems reasonable, we got a discount but it still seems reasonable. The licensing cost is $3 to $4 per endpoint and can be paid monthly or yearly, with the price changing according to commitment."
"SentinelOne Singularity Complete's price point is excessive compared to the functionality it provides."
"The pricing is very reasonable."
