An easy-to-use automation solution with satisfying customer support
Sometimes, while getting data from a third-party product, like data sources that are not present in your system, Alteryx works a bit slowly. Even if you have a good configuration and you are pulling data from an SQL server like SAP, then the solution also has a slow work process. It shouldn't be that much slow if you are pulling ten thousand records, it should not take thirty minutes.

A stable and reliable product that provides a variety of features for data integration
The solution is not for newcomers. It has an old touch. The solution must improve the integration with new services. It was part of the program at Informatica when they moved to their cloud platform. It is integrated. However, from an on-premise perspective, we need to buy licenses for PowerExchange. If we want a native driver to access a special service, we need to extend our license to those services. It is expensive. I don't like that it's not all included in the solution.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Alteryx Designer is easier to use for machine learning models. However, I am not very good at Python scripts which you will need to make the machine learning scripts."
"I like Alteryx's browser tool because you can view how your data is handled live. There are many other valuable tools like transpose and the crosstab. You can quickly pivot your data, and there are connections throughout the database. It's so easy to create a connection. If you connect to sign apps or a more complex database, the tool contains all the tools you need."
"It has an easy setup process."
"The product is intuitive and easy to use."
"Alteryx Designer is a tool that is pretty much easy to install."
"When you open a raw Excel file, it can be hard to look at everything in detail. Alteryx makes it much easier to go through the data, summarize it, and use different tools for analysis."
"Alteryx Designer's user interface is great, as it is very user-friendly."
"The solution is easy to integrate and user-friendly."
"It's a very powerful tool you can use to load data, get data, do the drawing between the tables, and put into the packet in a very fast way."
"The most valuable features are the monitoring tools and the reporting manager."
"Technical support, and their approach is good. They have a support portal and support tickets. If you open a ticket it has multiple levels of severity from level one to very high or critical."
"In the end, you have structured, proper data for use in an integrated BI solution."
"Deployment was simple and straightforward."
"I would recommend that others considering the solution go ahead and use it for any batch and high volume loads with complex transactions."
"Error handling capability is quite good in Informatica PowerCenter because it provides a very detailed session log, which is really helpful to identify errors."
"It is an excellent ETL tool."

Cons

"The actual usage part of it needs to be explained more. It's too vague right now."
"Based on my experience, the tool could be improved by providing sample reports or pre-configured workflows tailored to specific industries, like finance. It needs to integrate an AI chatbot as well."
"Alteryx Designer's pricing and support could be improved."
"Alteryx Designer is not as fast as SSIS and is not good for large datasets. It also needs to improve database procedures. Though it is easy to use, it is limited in terms of technical aspects."
"It would be simpler if they provided a component where you could simply enter some parameters and see the results."
"We need more documentation."
"The major concern in Alteryx Designer stems from the high costs attached to the product."
"The price of the product is an area with certain shortcomings where improvements are required."
"PowerCenter could integrate better with cloud applications. We had to do a lot of configuration work using API integrations to connect with cloud applications. Informatica Cloud Data Integration has a generic connector that you can use directly, so it's much easier."
"Unstructured data handling is an important area with a shortcoming that needs improvement in the solution."
"As a connector to big data, it is not well developed. We've had problems connecting Informatica with Hadoop. The functionality to connect Informatica with Hadoop, for me it's not good."
"The UI is outdated and old-fashioned, at least in our current version. Also, we have experienced some stability issues with the Workflow Monitor application."
"Its scalability can be improved. It is not scalable."
"The UI is a little outdated."
"There can be scalability issues. Huge amounts of data ingestion will impact performance."
"Areas for improvement in Informatica PowerCenter include scalability and high availability or the clustering configuration because that's still very basic. The elasticity or scaling of the platform needs a lot of improvement. For example, when it comes to DR handling or building an active-active or active-passive cluster, Informatica PowerCenter is still not that powerful. Automation also needs improvement in the solution. Improving automation leads to some improvement in the stability of Informatica PowerCenter and other aspects related to it. What I'd like to see in the next release of Informatica PowerCenter is real-time capability because the solution is mainly for patches, and to have real-time integration, you need to count on some additional components from Informatica. I would expect more integration and a complete platform in terms of real-time capability or patching with minimal interventions or minimal components to be aligned together."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The tool is priced high."
"The product is a bit expensive, it should be looked into."
"It is too expensive for our country. We are a small country, so it is too difficult to sell this solution. With Alteryx Designer, if you want to automate the data and run the flows, you have to pay more money. We were trying to automate the flows, and we found out that people have to pay 600 more for this feature, which makes it even more expensive. We are a partner for Tableau, and we are working with Tableau Prep, which is like a mini Alteryx. In Tableau Prep, you can drag and drop and make new connections with the different data sources. You can make all the connections. You can also publish a source. You don't have to pay more money with Tableau. You pay like $5 per user per month to access it."
"Alteryx is a little bit expensive compared to competing solutions."
"Alteryx Designer is an expensive solution."
"I rate the price of Alteryx Designer a ten on a scale of one to ten, where one is low price and ten is high price."
"The solution is expensive. It has license fees, which are renewable every year."
"The licenses are expensive, making it difficult to consider acquiring additional licenses to the existing ones."
"We have a site license, but we do pay by the division."
"Our client has purchased the license, and we are using it."
"I rate the solution's pricing a four out of ten. The price is very high, and it doesn't understand the market now."
"I rate the product's price a ten on a scale of one to ten, where one is a low price, and ten is a high price."
"It's much more expensive, almost three times more expensive than most other solutions."
"The price of Informatica PowerCenter is expensive, but it does give value."
"Informatica PowerCenter is reasonably priced. It is less expensive than Pentaho. There is a standard version fee in Taiwan. It is a one-time yearly subscription price that is approximately $3,010 US dollars for three users."
"Compared to other tools, I think PowerCenter is a bit expensive. When I compare it to Oracle, if you want to use Oracle databases, you can easily get an ODI tool, so it's easier to handle. Informatica is a standalone tool—it's an independent company—and there are no databases around them, so it's quite expensive to use. Generally, large companies use PowerCenter because of the price. If companies want to expand their usage areas, they try to consider if it's easy to implement and easy to understand the pricing. I think the pricing is a barrier for Informatica."
