Enhanced data security with seamless integration and static website capabilities
S3 is a great service offering numerous possibilities. It allows for storing objects and files of various types. I appreciate its capability to create static websites and integrate with services like CloudFront, EC2, and DynamoDB. Despite being focused on security, I leverage features such as cryptography and integration with CloudTrail.

Stable with excellent speed and agility
The most valuable aspect of the solution is simply to have the ability to host in a cloud form and out of the data center - the IBM big iron solution. It's the speed and the agility that really sell SoftLayer. The ELT versus ETL extract, transform and load versus extract, load, and then transform, the ELT method is what really sells SoftLayer. The ability to extract act from your current location, load into your future location, with limited change, and then be able to take the transfer actions slowly and methodically after you're in your new location is the part that really makes this awesome. The stability and scalability are quite good.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The stability is very good."
"The users have nothing to worry about as the solution is well established."
"Amazon S3 is easily accessible, fast and effective. Its performance is good."
"The scalability of Amazon S3 is good."
"The product's deployment phase is easy."
"Amazon S3 is a storage bucket service with good stability."
"S3 is well suited for both big and little data repositories of objects ranging from backup to archive to active video images and much more."
"You don't have to specify your clone, availability clone, or your locations. Everything's over there. They have a receipt for the instance where we have to select the exact location of what we are clicking. The S3 storage capacity is high, and the price is reasonable."
"The stability is the solution's most valuable aspect for our organization."
"The ELT versus ETL extract, transform and load versus extract, load, and then transform, the ELT method is what really sells SoftLayer."

Cons

"The upload speed for data and documents is sometimes slow."
"I would like to see an easier setup that doesn't require as much training."
"Amazon S3 could improve some of the features, such as indexing, or we should have more information about all the data stored in a single place. This way we can see what data resides where instead of going in different buckets, file locations manually, or searching. An index would be nice, allowing us to directly go to a location to use the date."
"The search option must be enabled in the UI to filter and retrieve files."
"I encountered some issues with the data lifecycle. Transitioning between S3 storage classes, like moving data from the standard class to Glacier or Glacier Deep Archive, has been challenging."
"Sometimes, there is latency in getting data, especially if the file size is large. This could be improved."
"The pricing and licensing are pretty complex."
"The only pain point is migrating the life cycle policy because if someone is a newbie, they cannot easily create the life cycle policy."
"For us, the versioning was an issue."
"The interface is hard to use for us. It should be simplified."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There is a license to use Amazon S3."
"I would rate the pricing a nine out of ten. Pricing depends on a particular class where you want save your objects. There are different classes when it comes to storage in S3."
"The cost of Amazon S3 could be better. As the number of data increases, you'll pay more for Amazon S3. It's around $200, which is okay, but my company uses it less often."
"The tool is not too expensive considering the various pros."
"The pricing for Amazon S3 is reasonable, so price-wise, it's a seven out of ten."
"The solution is fairly priced."
"I know it is very inexpensive compared to other solutions."
"The pricing is good."

Questions from the Community

What do you like most about Amazon S3?
We can easily connect to the AWS resources.
What is your experience regarding pricing and costs for Amazon S3?
S3 is a pay-as-you-go service. I pay based on the data volume I am using.
What needs improvement with Amazon S3?
There is a limitation with the data upload size, such as the five terabytes restriction. I would like to see an increase in the data upload limit, similar to DynamoDB, where there is no data limit.
