Effective machine learning, constantly evolving, but price could improve
If the solution is built correctly there is no maintenance needed. The crucial aspect is to ensure that there are individuals who possess the knowledge to effectively utilize the tool. It is akin to piloting an airplane, where one must first acquire the skills to fly before attempting to operate it. Otherwise, they will crash it. I rate Anaplan a seven out of ten.

Good tool for data visualization but interface is not very intuitive
I am the one that builds the reports. So, it's the baseline for making any predictions for budgets and something like that. We are an international organization, so it helps us to have consolidated reports and a clearer overview. It certainly supports streamlining across our global operations. The integration of Hyperion into our existing system improved operational efficiency.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's real-time connected planning, so the calculations are pretty much seamless as far as your model is connected."
"Anaplan provides 130 GB of cloud storage for organizations to use as part of their license."
"The most valuable feature of Anaplan is machine learning. The solution is constantly evolving from feedback. Additionally, there is a wide range of training material online."
"Anaplan's scalability stands out compared to other platforms, especially for scenario planning and what-if analysis."
"I believe Anaplan is a new cloud tool, and from time to time, there's a lot of improvement that the Anaplan company deploys with the system. So, with that improvement, we need to really adapt and know the new system trends."
"It's simple to use with a lot of functions."
"Anaplan's most valuable features are that it's a no-coding platform, everything can be scaled to your other functions, and it's easy to learn and use (especially because Anaplan provides excellent interactive training)."
"The features that I have found most valuable are that it is web-based and easy to use."
"Hyperion is helpful for all our budget processes."
"The stability is fine and quite user friendly."
"We can collect data from various sources, which is very useful for budgeting and planning."
"Functionality-wise, it is what they say it is. It is the best in class, but it all ties back to your users. If your users are completely enamored with Excel spreadsheets, then breaking those habits is hard."
"Since it is an enterprise-capable solution, people are not worried about security, giving data, the ability to manage complex consolidation, and its ability to modify reporting."
"Oracle Hyperion is an engine allowing you to build whatever you want on it."
"It's basically the same as the other budgeting solutions."
"Oracle Hyperion is fairly user-friendly and not too complicated. The forecasting, it's really good. It's sometimes slow when there are a lot of users using it and we can have up to approximately 300 users using it. However, you can do it in Excel because there's an Excel add-in. This is a benefit because a lot of people do this way instead of having to go into the planning application itself."

Cons

"Space and integration are a problem."
"The cloud engine slows down when working with a large dataset. It still lacks a powerful engine."
"The tool needs to work on its integration with MS Excel and MS Word. The tool does not allow data analysis in spreadsheets which is possible on other platforms. I want the solution to be more collaborative to facilitate decision-making in organizations."
"There are workspace issues, like the limitation on model sizes."
"The solution could improve by better dashboards and while entering the form loss and project implementation the ability to use graphical shapes more effectively."
"The visualization tools in the product are limited in comparison to other reporting tools."
"The negative is that the higher the flexibility, the higher is the complexity. That can act against you as a negative because it does require a model builder or a coder/developer."
"Anaplan's workflow component is probably the biggest area for improvement. I'd also like to see Anaplan add an ad hoc reporting tool that allows users to query things. It's going to factor into how you design your data set and your models, but I'd like the ability to create ad hoc queries against the data that's in there."
"The most important aspect for improvement is the time efficiency when handling large databases."
"Sometimes Oracle Hyperion is slow when there are a lot of users using it. However, we can have up to approximately 300 users using it."
"The interface could be better. It could be more user-friendly, it is not very intuitive."
"There can be an improvement in many regards with the dimensions, the metadata, the interfaces, as well as the integration."
"Their documentation could be a little bit more descriptive at places. They don't really do a lot of How-Tos because that gets pushed through to the consulting groups. There have been some books. There is a real good one out there about how to look smarter than you are with Hyperion Planning that some people at a company called ArganoInterRel wrote. Those things do exist, but that's not in their documentation. It's basically like they'll say, "This is the field. This is what it's used for," but they don't tell you how to particularly use it in your case environment."
"It is challenging to do reporting on Oracle Hyperion if you're not an expert."
"There's something known as a data block that Hyperion generates for each and every transaction. Sometimes it does not generate and we need to identify those issues and fix them manually."
"Oracle EPM Cloud solutions have simplified the security model. Nevertheless, it would be better having a more differentiated security model."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Anaplan is a bit pricier compared to its competitors - the license costs about $4,000 per user annually."
"This is a yearly subscription. So a customer initially buys a workspace and specifies how much GB they want. The minimum starts at around 30 GB. You can buy multiple workspaces."
"A value-for-money product and a very reasonable price compared to competitors like SAP or IBM."
"The license is a yearly subscription. There are three licensing tiers: the model builder, planner, and the reporting."
"The price of the solution is expensive."
"We are currently using a free workspace license for 90 days. We are satisfied with the price of the solution. There are additional costs if you want more storage, the default limit is 250 GB."
"The entry-level is anywhere from about $30,000 to $50,000 a year, however, it does go up significantly after that depending on the complexity and how much space you're using."
"The tool’s pricing is reasonable and competitive with other solutions."
"We pay for licensing yearly."
"As Oracle's pricing is on the higher end, most businesses prefer to have their own private cloud."
"Compared with MSBA, it is quite reasonable."
"The licenses cost approximately $1,000."
"Oracle Hyperion is not an inexpensive solution."
"It might be considered relatively costly compared to some alternatives."
"Oracle Hyperion's licensing structures are quite expensive for some companies, especially medium-sized companies because of the user-based license."
"The solution is affordable."
