Apigee empowers effective API management while needing improvements in technical support
There is room for improvement with Apigee as OPDK private cloud enhancements have stopped, focusing only on Apigee hybrid and Apigee X, with Google no longer adding new features to OPDK private cloud. I am not currently utilizing AI in the private cloud with Apigee, but I'm unsure about hybrid and Apigee X.

Has required significant improvements due to limited features but offers simple implementation and good support
Boomi AtomSphere API Management has very few features. If you ask me to name the top two, I would say MuleSoft and Apigee, as it depends on the customer-to-customer use cases. After those, WSO2, Kong, and whether you say Informatica API Manager or Boomi AtomSphere API Management, they stand with only three out of ten features which are essential for API management. All the features that Apigee has, they need to add. All the features that MuleSoft has, they need to add. It is not a simple task. The problem is that they lack features. It is not their performance. There are many features to mention. When you take and compare all the features that Apigee has and all the features that MuleSoft has, they need to implement those features.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We have been using Apigee mostly for proxy FGIs. We also use its security features as well as traffic control features."
"Apigee provides out-of-the-box policies, so it is ready to use with minimal configuration to those policies. You can govern your API and manage the life cycle of the API completely with the Apigee tool."
"Easy interface to monetize and deliver APIs with very easy integration for third-party development environments/delivery."
"The analytics function and the developer portal are the two valuable features of Apigee. The analytics part is very good, and the developer portal is quite rich in features."
"Anyone with basic knowledge can build an API."
"If customers are trying to do long-term planning, and want to apply monetization on their APIs, then Apigee will be the best in this situation."
"The most valuable features are low-code play, quick packaging, and production."
"Items around the mobilization of the API interface and the ability to automate validations for our APIs are the most valuable aspects."
"The stability of the solution is good."
"Integration is straightforward. There is no issue with it."
"We can create APIs straightforwardly and quickly and build jobs for data migration."
"AtomSphere API Management is a simple platform that's easy to use. If you're using it on-prem, there's a little learning curve."
"The user interface, which we use to create the integration, basically has the data structures collected, is pretty easy to navigate, is a drag and drop style of working, and there is very little code required so the creation of the endpoints is very simple."
"Boomi allows for more secure URLs and easy customization of HTTP and HTTPS protocols, which I find very beneficial."
"The product's stability is good."
"Integrations take less time."

Cons

"Apigee is demanding on the infrastructure so the setup cost is very high for an on-premises deployment."
"Proxy versioning seems a bit confusing/buried in the publishing experience, especially for the URI-based versioning approach."
"The technical support could be improved because their response time is slow."
"The company needs to better support webhooks. It used to support webhooks and their policies and they have since stopped. They had some issues in the product and they abandoned the support for them. It's not come back since."
"The setup and installation process could be improved with a container-based system."
"Apigee is demanding on the infrastructure so the setup cost is very high for an on-premises deployment."
"The solution tends to hide the limitations to keep selling the product."
"The pricing for the product was a bit higher. I also found it challenging to manage sometimes."
"It's difficult to integrate the on-prem application with the Dell Boomi Cloud. We have to check to ensure the Dell domain engine is running. It just requires some service endpoints from our on-prem application to connect to Dell Boomi Cloud to make it available to integrate. It would be better if AtomSphere API Management were offered as a purely SaaS application, so I wouldn't need an on-prem component to make it available. We could make a test call or provide some connection parameters. That should enable it to pull the data."
"To some degree, you need to know what type or amount of API you are creating - whether it's a rest API or web service API. You need to know ETL in order to really get the most out of Boomi."
"To some degree, you need to know what type or amount of API you are creating - whether it's a rest API or web service API. You need to know ETL in order to really get the most out of Boomi."
"The solution must provide more AI services."
"Overall, I would rate AtomSphere lower than solutions like APG or API Connect."
"Boomi AtomSphere API Management can be improved in terms of threshold management and policy management."
"The product is really complex to manage."
"From an improvement perspective, the price could be cheaper."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is a bit on the expensive side. Its licensing cost is a bit high, and that's where we've seen people going back on their decisions."
"The prices are comparable."
"Since it was acquired by Google, we can get a license based on our requirements and the cost level will depend on cloud access and support."
"The cost increases as the usage increases."
"If the budget is not a concern then I will choose to go with Apigee over WSA-2, but if it is then I would prefer the latter solution."
"The cost of the licensing is based on the number of API calls that are made."
"Apigee is slightly expensive, but again, it can depend on the type of usage. All things considered, it is slightly expensive."
"The solution is a bit expensive. It's not for organizations in the early stages of their lifecycle but is more suited for mid- to enterprise-level platforms. Pricing varies by deployment model, with SaaS being the cheapest, costing around $100,000 per year for a subscription. For hybrid and on-prem deployments, the price increases. The on-prem model includes a license and additional installation and configuration professional service costs, which can be at least $40,000 to $60,000 for the initial setup. While it's not cheap, it offers long-term value and can be worthwhile."
"Boomi AtomSphere API Management is a cheap product."
"The price is reasonable."
"The product can get very expensive quickly if you connect to multiple databases."
"Boomi AtomSphere API Management gives customers a good price. Price-wise, the product is good."
