Apigee empowers effective API management while needing improvements in technical support
There is room for improvement with Apigee as OPDK private cloud enhancements have stopped, focusing only on Apigee hybrid and Apigee X, with Google no longer adding new features to OPDK private cloud. I am not currently utilizing AI in the private cloud with Apigee, but I'm unsure about hybrid and Apigee X.

Has required significant improvements due to limited features but offers simple implementation and good support
Boomi AtomSphere API Management has very few features. If you ask me to name the top two, I would say MuleSoft and Apigee, as it depends on the customer-to-customer use cases. After those, WSO2, Kong, and whether you say Informatica API Manager or Boomi AtomSphere API Management, they stand with only three out of ten features which are essential for API management. All the features that Apigee has, they need to add. All the features that MuleSoft has, they need to add. It is not a simple task. The problem is that they lack features. It is not their performance. There are many features to mention. When you take and compare all the features that Apigee has and all the features that MuleSoft has, they need to implement those features.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The ease of creating policies has been the most useful of the solution's features; it's a quick ramp-up time and it's easy for our support staff to implement the policies in the API management layer."
"The customer service and support are cooperative and effective in providing insights and solutions during challenges."
"Apigee is very fast in transferring requests and responses between Northbound systems to Southbound systems."
"It is easy to set up. It is on Google Platform, and there are multiple deployment models they support, which is great."
"Apigee gives you plenty of opportunities to set up your workspace depending on how you want to manage your APIs."
"One feature I found most valuable in Apigee is its simplicity."
"Apigee is a front-layer gateway and it helps to improve our overall performance."
"Implementation success would depend on having a good API architecture and design, using analytics, and following best practices of the lifecycle management provided by tool."
"AtomSphere is tightly integrated into the Boomi iPaaS platform. And Boomi has been augmenting AtomSphere API Management for the past couple of years so version 2.0 is better than 1.0."
"The user interface, which we use to create the integration, basically has the data structures collected, is pretty easy to navigate, is a drag and drop style of working, and there is very little code required so the creation of the endpoints is very simple."
"We can create APIs straightforwardly and quickly and build jobs for data migration."
"AtomSphere is tightly integrated into the Boomi iPaaS platform, and Boomi has been augmenting AtomSphere API Management for the past couple of years so version 2.0 is better than 1.0."
"Integrations take less time."
"We can develop almost any interface that we need."
"Boomi AtomSphere API Management is a good product for integrating with Boomi as a backend service."
"The product's stability is good."

Cons

"I am still struggling to understand how we can use Apigee as a hybrid system."
"Drag and drop of features would be more beneficial, rather than manually working on the configuration and updates."
"When it comes to the rate limit, we don't have a specific category for rate limits for a particular customer."
"Proxy versioning seems a bit confusing and buried in the publishing experience, especially for the URI-based versioning approach."
"Apigee could improve by integrating with more identity providers and offering a default authentication module."
"The user interface could be better. It could be easier to navigate and more user-friendly."
"Support of integration is what is most challenging in Apigee, as well as the complexity of the components."
"Since it is based on various open sourced projects, we might have to depend on the fixes provided by those components rather than Apigee directly fixing the issues."
"To some degree, you need to know what type or amount of API you are creating - whether it's a rest API or web service API. You need to know ETL in order to really get the most out of Boomi."
"Boomi AtomSphere API Management has very few features. If you ask me to name the top two, I would say MuleSoft and Apigee, as it depends on the customer-to-customer use cases."
"The product is really complex to manage."
"The solution must provide more AI services."
"It's difficult to integrate the on-prem application with the Dell Boomi Cloud. We have to check to ensure the Dell domain engine is running. It just requires some service endpoints from our on-prem application to connect to Dell Boomi Cloud to make it available to integrate. It would be better if AtomSphere API Management were offered as a purely SaaS application, so I wouldn't need an on-prem component to make it available. We could make a test call or provide some connection parameters. That should enable it to pull the data."
"Scalability is an area where Boomi lacks."
"From an improvement perspective, the price could be cheaper."
"The API management has room for improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Apigee is slightly expensive, but again, it can depend on the type of usage. All things considered, it is slightly expensive."
"The solution’s pricing could be more competitive."
"The tool is extremely expensive."
"Apigee is expensive and not cost-effective. On a scale of one to ten, I would rate it an eight for the high cost. The changes individuals need to make on their side are costly."
"Apigee is a pretty expensive solution."
"Since it was acquired by Google, we can get a license based on our requirements and the cost level will depend on cloud access and support."
"As most of the customers say, the tool is a bit expensive."
"You do not necessarily pay for the license. The cloud solution is based more on transactions. So, you pay for it either way."
"The price is reasonable."
"Boomi AtomSphere API Management is a cheap product."
"The product can get very expensive quickly if you connect to multiple databases."
"Boomi AtomSphere API Management gives customers a good price. Price-wise, the product is good."
