Apigee empowers effective API management while needing improvements in technical support
There is room for improvement with Apigee as OPDK private cloud enhancements have stopped, focusing only on Apigee hybrid and Apigee X, with Google no longer adding new features to OPDK private cloud. I am not currently utilizing AI in the private cloud with Apigee, but I'm unsure about hybrid and Apigee X.

Has required significant improvements due to limited features but offers simple implementation and good support
Boomi AtomSphere API Management has very few features. If you ask me to name the top two, I would say MuleSoft and Apigee, as it depends on the customer-to-customer use cases. After those, WSO2, Kong, and whether you say Informatica API Manager or Boomi AtomSphere API Management, they stand with only three out of ten features which are essential for API management. All the features that Apigee has, they need to add. All the features that MuleSoft has, they need to add. It is not a simple task. The problem is that they lack features. It is not their performance. There are many features to mention. When you take and compare all the features that Apigee has and all the features that MuleSoft has, they need to implement those features.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It has actually helped us to be able to integrate our internal applications with external vendors, acting as a single point of entry into the enterprise and making management as well as security simpler."
"Apigee is a pioneer in the industry and has good features and functionalities, it is a good tool for API management and it has more advancements than all other tools in the market in certain areas."
"We use it to build API proxies for securing targeted back-ends with an emphasis on Continuous Integration/Continuous Development (CI/CD)."
"If you have very complex scenarios where you are trying to embark on a cloud journey and you still have systems on-premise or some systems are hosted on some other cloud and you want to do an integration, Apigee is really good."
"I would definitely recommend this product over any other products available in the market in this category."
"Apigee is the best product in the industry in comparison to other API management solutions."
"Apigee brings a lot of projects, including development projects; for example, when an oil company is swiping a card in the palm station for payment of oil, as it swipes, it hits the database, and Apigee manages the entire process with the help of dedicated proxies, and managing those proxies is very easy, and Apigee makes proxy management very simple."
"Technical support is good with everything."
"AtomSphere API Management is a simple platform that's easy to use. If you're using it on-prem, there's a little learning curve."
"Integrations take less time."
"Boomi AtomSphere API Management is a good product for integrating with Boomi as a backend service."
"We can create APIs straightforwardly and quickly and build jobs for data migration."
"Boomi allows for more secure URLs and easy customization of HTTP and HTTPS protocols, which I find very beneficial."
"The product's stability is good."
"The stability of the solution is good."
"AtomSphere is tightly integrated into the Boomi iPaaS platform, and Boomi has been augmenting AtomSphere API Management for the past couple of years so version 2.0 is better than 1.0."

Cons

"We are experiencing some performance issues."
"I would like to see better integration and some architectural improvements in future releases of the solution."
"The solution tends to hide the limitations to keep selling the product."
"More documentation on the Open Banking Standard will help."
"Apigee could do more to make users aware of what is available in the add-ons."
"When it comes to the rate limit, we don't have a specific category for rate limits for a particular customer."
"Apigee is costlier compared to other solutions. For government organizations, especially those that do not want cloud-based solutions and prefer on-premise implementations, we recommend WSO2 due to its cost-effectiveness and suitability for private cloud environments."
"There should be an integrated continuous integration and continuous deployment approach with Apigee."
"To some degree, you need to know what type or amount of API you are creating - whether it's a rest API or web service API. You need to know ETL in order to really get the most out of Boomi."
"Most of the basic functionality is there in Boomi, but APG is a more feature-rich solution."
"The API management has room for improvement."
"The solution must provide more AI services."
"Overall, I would rate AtomSphere lower than solutions like APG or API Connect."
"It's difficult to integrate the on-prem application with the Dell Boomi Cloud. We have to check to ensure the Dell domain engine is running. It just requires some service endpoints from our on-prem application to connect to Dell Boomi Cloud to make it available to integrate. It would be better if AtomSphere API Management were offered as a purely SaaS application, so I wouldn't need an on-prem component to make it available. We could make a test call or provide some connection parameters. That should enable it to pull the data."
"Scalability is an area where Boomi lacks."
"The product is really complex to manage."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We have a contract for three years. I don't know the cost."
"Based on your usage of the APIs you can take a decision to go with either an on-cloud or OPDK version. Get in touch with the sales representatives of Apigee."
"Pricing options need to be chosen on a case-by-case basis."
"Apigee is slightly expensive, but again, it can depend on the type of usage. All things considered, it is slightly expensive."
"The cost of the licensing is based on the number of API calls that are made."
"The cost increases as the usage increases."
"It is not suited for small companies. It's expensive."
"It is a bit on the expensive side. Its licensing cost is a bit high, and that's where we've seen people going back on their decisions."
"The price is reasonable."
"The product can get very expensive quickly if you connect to multiple databases."
"Boomi AtomSphere API Management is a cheap product."
"Boomi AtomSphere API Management gives customers a good price. Price-wise, the product is good."
