Apigee empowers effective API management while needing improvements in technical support
There is room for improvement with Apigee as OPDK private cloud enhancements have stopped, focusing only on Apigee hybrid and Apigee X, with Google no longer adding new features to OPDK private cloud. I am not currently utilizing AI in the private cloud with Apigee, but I'm unsure about hybrid and Apigee X.

Has required significant improvements due to limited features but offers simple implementation and good support
Boomi AtomSphere API Management has very few features. If you ask me to name the top two, I would say MuleSoft and Apigee, as it depends on the customer-to-customer use cases. After those, WSO2, Kong, and whether you say Informatica API Manager or Boomi AtomSphere API Management, they stand with only three out of ten features which are essential for API management. All the features that Apigee has, they need to add. All the features that MuleSoft has, they need to add. It is not a simple task. The problem is that they lack features. It is not their performance. There are many features to mention. When you take and compare all the features that Apigee has and all the features that MuleSoft has, they need to implement those features.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The API moderation, administration monitoring, product architecture, infrastructure, and overall quality is good."
"The scalability is incredible."
"They capture the details of all the incoming and outgoing traffic of your APIs. Based on 300+ default dimensions you can generate beautiful and insightful reports on usage and consumption of APIs."
"The most important feature is the security capabilities and the way it integrates very quickly with other security providers. We have integrated it with Azure and it integrates quite seamlessly."
"Overall the solution works well, it is one of the best solutions on the market."
"The solution is stable and, from an enterprise perspective, it can handle volume which is important for us."
"Implementation success would depend on having a good API architecture and design, using analytics, and following best practices of the lifecycle management provided by tool."
"It has all the features necessary to work in anything from a basic scenario to advanced applications."
"The user interface, which we use to create the integration, basically has the data structures collected, is pretty easy to navigate, is a drag and drop style of working, and there is very little code required so the creation of the endpoints is very simple."
"AtomSphere API Management is a simple platform that's easy to use. If you're using it on-prem, there's a little learning curve."
"Boomi AtomSphere API Management is a good product for integrating with Boomi as a backend service."
"Boomi allows for more secure URLs and easy customization of HTTP and HTTPS protocols, which I find very beneficial."
"Integrations take less time."
"Integration is straightforward. There is no issue with it."
"The stability of the solution is good."
"AtomSphere is tightly integrated into the Boomi iPaaS platform. And Boomi has been augmenting AtomSphere API Management for the past couple of years so version 2.0 is better than 1.0."

Cons

"The caching capabilities are somewhat limited. This is more on the developer-oriented capabilities."
"I am still struggling to understand how we can use Apigee as a hybrid system. The pricing of this solution could also be improved as there are multiple new products coming onto the market at competitive price points."
"I would like them to add features, such as caching and mediation policies."
"Since it is based on various open sourced projects, we might have to depend on the fixes provided by those components rather than Apigee directly fixing the issues."
"The installation and management of this product are still a clumsy task."
"Apigee is quite pricey. The price is a thorny issue as there is little room for negotiation."
"Google isn't enthusiastic about supporting older versions. Google is now trying to move all of its clients to X within the cloud."
"The cost of the solution is quite high."
"From an improvement perspective, the price could be cheaper."
"It's difficult to integrate the on-prem application with the Dell Boomi Cloud. We have to check to ensure the Dell domain engine is running. It just requires some service endpoints from our on-prem application to connect to Dell Boomi Cloud to make it available to integrate. It would be better if AtomSphere API Management were offered as a purely SaaS application, so I wouldn't need an on-prem component to make it available. We could make a test call or provide some connection parameters. That should enable it to pull the data."
"The API management has room for improvement."
"Boomi AtomSphere API Management has very few features. If you ask me to name the top two, I would say MuleSoft and Apigee, as it depends on the customer-to-customer use cases."
"Boomi AtomSphere API Management can be improved in terms of threshold management and policy management."
"Scalability is an area where Boomi lacks."
"Most of the basic functionality is there in Boomi, but APG is a more feature-rich solution."
"Overall, I would rate AtomSphere lower than solutions like APG or API Connect."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution’s pricing could be more competitive."
"We have a contract for three years. I don't know the cost."
"The tool is extremely expensive."
"Apigee is slightly expensive, but again, it can depend on the type of usage. All things considered, it is slightly expensive."
"The cost increases as the usage increases."
"Its price is reasonable for the features they provide and the maturity of the platform."
"Since it was acquired by Google, we can get a license based on our requirements and the cost level will depend on cloud access and support."
"Apigee has several different licenses you can obtain depending on your needs."
"Boomi AtomSphere API Management is a cheap product."
"The product can get very expensive quickly if you connect to multiple databases."
"Boomi AtomSphere API Management gives customers a good price. Price-wise, the product is good."
"The price is reasonable."
