Functions efficiently and is cheaper than what its competitors offer
In general, the product works fine and is efficient. It was mainly used by someone else in my company, and I just used to operate it The solution's most valuable feature is its stability because Arista falls in an industry that is very similar to Cisco. If the engineer knows Cisco's solution,…

Reliable and stable catalyst switch; can be easily installed
I like Cisco Catalyst Switches because most of the time, we can do what we want with the product. Cisco has good guidelines that enable us to implement anything, so we can have a multiple ability product on most of the network equipment worldwide. Cisco has communities or forums that help us implement more complicated areas in terms of network, so in addition, Cisco is not just a network equipment company, because they provide us most of the solutions, development, protocols, and new technologies, more than any other company in the world. I also like the availability of Cisco Catalyst Switches, including scalability and reliability. You can find all these in this product.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The technology is scalable as much as you want."
"The solution's most valuable feature is its stability because Arista falls in an industry that is very similar to Cisco."
"I use the solution for connectivity in data centers and LANs, providing Layer 2 and Layer 3 connectivity based on network needs."
"The CloudVision Portal allows us to centrally manage all of our Arista products."
"QoS is the most valuable feature because our clients work with VOIP and Critical applications."
"The feature sets are pretty cool. They've got almost everything that the competition offers."
"We use the VLANs to separate library, office, and individual apartments. With some of the reporting that receive, we're able to take and track down where people like to put in their own wireless routers. Sometimes they will take a DSL modem from AT&T that they brought from home, hook it in backward, and it will give rogue addresses causing issues."
"The solution is robust in terms of the equipment provided."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is reliability."
"The scalability is good."
"The configuration is easy."
"The Cisco Catalyst is very stable and it can last for many years."
"Catalyst switches are highly stable and easy to use. It's a technology well known by most engineers."
"Easy to manage, with a long lifespan."

Cons

"The complex setup phase is an area of concern where improvements are required."
"One of the issues that we have been faced with here in Brazil is that we don't have any list times for delivery."
"I think there's still room for improvement. Arista Campus LAN Switches are not highly scalable as they are hardware-based. If hardware requirements exceed capacity, the product needs to be changed, which can impact service."
"We have to renew the license every three years, which can be a challenge for customers. Arista, like other vendors, now follows a license-based system."
"It would be ideal if the solution was less expensive."
"I would like to see a version available with eight or sixteen ports."
"The only drawback I saw with Cisco Catalyst Switches is that it's not cloud-managed."
"If they worked on lowering the price, they would be able to attract more customers."
"The support team’s response and resolution time must be faster."
"Needs to improve cloud services and mobile software."
"There is no GUI."
"Cisco is the most expensive product."
"These switches should have better compatibility with software-defined technology."
"The solution could improve security."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The only licensing costs are for CloudVision, although the upfront price of the device is not cheap."
"The price is not that good, but our clients value the solution despite the price."
"I would rate the features-to-pricing ratio at six out of 10. My advice about licensing is that you should have a perpetual license, not one that is subscription-based."
"The price is on the higher side."
"I don't see any price issue with Cisco. Whenever you buy a quality product, you always have a mindset of paying the premium amount. For any good product, you pay a premium amount, but that also means you are going to recover that premium over a period of time in terms of performance."
"This is an expensive product."
"Try to buy everything you need in bulk purchases and ask Cisco for volume discounts."
"We have a contract for service with this partner, meaning we don't purchase the license or equipment directly."
"I rate the overall product a six out of ten from a price perspective since it is an expensive tool."
"The pricing of Cisco Catalyst Switches could be better in general. There is an annual license required."
