Stable hotel networking enhances return on investment with valuable modular features
There are issues with the distribution side of Aruba Switches. For instance, the distributor in our country cannot sell to neighboring countries, creating complications in project execution. Improving the distribution network across regions would be beneficial. Also, the SFP modules are significantly more expensive than industry peers, which affects cost-effectiveness.
Hakan Pehlivan - PeerSpot reviewer
Enhanced broadcast management with trusted support and intuitive interfaces
Cisco is the best on the Metro Solution side and also strong in the broadcast sector. Cisco and Arista support the IP standard, which is more in demand nowadays for TV broadcasting. Cisco is trusted by most broadcast customers for data centers due to their experience and knowledge. Cisco Linksys switches offer ease of management and experience, especially for engineers holding CCNA certificates. The functionalities and measurements are similar across switches, but Cisco offers a useful web interface.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is the lifetime warranty."
"They provide great service in terms of replacing malfunctioning switches."
"I rate the stability of Aruba Switches a ten."
"Aruba has a good switching solution. It has some basic security features and full switching features for the company. It’s not used as a security device, but it has some basic features like configuring ACL. However, it cannot be used as a complete security solution. The primary thing our clients look for in Aruba, or HPE now since HP acquired Aruba, is cost-effectiveness. Aruba is a good choice if the customer has budget limitations. We recommend Aruba switches because they are less expensive than Cisco but provide the same features."
"It is slightly more price effective than Juniper and it has a slightly larger range."
"It's stable."
"The initial setup is quite easy."
"The most valuable features are the stability and compatibility with other products."
"There is no need for my company to pay for additional support."
"it's a stable solution. We have not experienced any bugs or issues. Many data centers and enterprise data centers prefer Cisco to any other product because they are very stable."
"The product is great for networking."
"The solution's most valuable feature is its command line interface, which is very easy to use."
"Linksys switches help us manage connected equipment because we can see the historical data on all devices connected to this switch."
"Cisco Linksys is scalable. You can use it as an extender, too."
"Administration can be done using the web-based interface."
"Overall, they have a good quality product."

Cons

"The licensing model could be improved."
"My experience with Aruba's account manager hasn't been the greatest."
"There are issues with the distribution side of Aruba Switches."
"We have needed to upgrade software to fix some challenges we experienced. After downloading the latest version of Aruba, these were fixed."
"There is an issue with Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), but it is escaping me. We aren't using this feature yet, but it is something we are considering."
"We had an integration team do the setup of the solution."
"I would like to see something like a Cisco Prime, an application controlling the entire system, switches, and access points."
"They should provide training courses for certification, and have it available on the internet."
"The solution is costly."
"They need to develop better UI. Other products have a nice GUI."
"The manageability could be improved."
"There should be an improvement in Cisco's response time and overall competence. They should be more easily reachable in Turkey for technical support."
"Python or some automation tools should be incorporated into the CLI shell of devices."
"Cisco Linksys Ethernet Switches could improve their price, it is high."
"It should be cheaper. We need a better price from Cisco. Its initial setup and support should also be improved."
"Scalability is an area that can be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"This is an affordable solution."
"There is a license to use the solution."
"I am paying for the hardware and Aruba Central licenses, but I would like a version of Aruba Central to come out with a light version with a few features turned off. Ubiquiti and other vendors have free tools. I believe they're looking at that, but it's not out yet. I hope they will release that to make it competitive because I'm using an enterprise-class switch for small businesses. We're looking for some of those capabilities, but not all of them."
"Typically it is a $500 to $600 difference in price."
"Aruba switches work without a license."
"The pricing is perfect."
"Aruba Switches are less expensive than Cisco."
"Cost-wise, you get some good savings as compared to Cisco."
"The solution has a yearly licensing subscription."
"Licensing fees for this product are billed on a yearly basis."
"The product is expensive."
"The tool is expensive."
"The price of Linksys products is pretty reasonable."
"The tool's price is reasonable."
"They are cheaper than Cisco Catalyst Switches."
"Cisco Linksys Ethernet Switches is a less expensive solution than other vendors."
