Enhanced broadcast management with trusted support and intuitive interfaces
Cisco is the best on the Metro Solution side and also strong in the broadcast sector. Cisco and Arista support the IP standard, which is more in demand nowadays for TV broadcasting. Cisco is trusted by most broadcast customers for data centers due to their experience and knowledge. Cisco Linksys switches offer ease of management and experience, especially for engineers holding CCNA certificates. The functionalities and measurements are similar across switches, but Cisco offers a useful web interface.

Enhanced network efficiency through features and demonstrate minimal downtime
One of the issues is the range of their products. They need to increase it. For example, if I want a 12-port switch that is fully managed, it's not easy to find. So, I have to opt for a 24-port switch that is fully managed, which might not be necessary as I only need 12 ports. So if they could increase the range of the switches in regards to the features, and the number of ports, that would be beneficial. So, that's the only potential improvement. The switches are perfect otherwise. Ideally, I'd like to see a central management system included as part of their license, not as a separate purchase. Currently, we have to manage switches independently. A central portal for managing all switches and providing visibility would be great.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The product offers a very professional experience."
"The deployment of the solution is quite fast."
"Ease-of-use and ease-of-management are good qualities of this product."
"The most valuable feature is that we can configure the security to suit our needs."
"For a home or small business, the solution offers a very good web interface."
"The most valuable feature is basic networking functionality."
"It is a scalable solution."
"Cisco's product is excellent and highly stable with decades of experience in switching and technology. It's a top-notch solution when your entire network operates within the Cisco ecosystem, allowing for a wide range of capabilities. However, the challenge with Cisco lies in its prioritization. When integrating with third-party solutions, like Juniper, it can be somewhat challenging, but it still performs reasonably well. Setting up Cisco switches is not a straightforward process; it's complex and requires more than simply powering them on and figuring things out as you go. You need a solid understanding of switch and stack configuration because Cisco has its unique software features. Cisco excels in vendor lock-in, meaning that if you want to combine Cisco switches with non-Cisco functionality, it can be both time-consuming and costly. While Cisco offers the most extensive capabilities, it can also be less flexible and more challenging when you want to deviate from the Cisco ecosystem."
"The solution is easy to use."
"The management interface makes network management very easy."
"The initial setup is straightforward."
"The solution is user-friendly."
"There are many good points about this product. Number one, they are very stable, and easy to configure and manage."
"There are no stability issues with D-Link Ethernet switches."
"I can't find anything wrong with our D-Link Ethernet Switches."
"It's plug-and-play. There is no configuration necessary."

Cons

"Integration is not easy since the device component is separate."
"Cisco Linksys Ethernet Switches’s stability and pricing needs improvement."
"Scalability-wise, this solution is not designed for small businesses."
"The pricing for this solution needs to be improved."
"The tool is only 75 percent efficient and not 100 percent as expected, making it an area where the tool can be improved."
"Cisco offers a wide range of features, and in the enterprise and mid-segment market in Europe, we make use of most of them. Some features are essential for our operations, while others may go unused. The feature set provided by Cisco is comprehensive, and there's little more we could ask for. It would be a nice addition if, in the future, Cisco switches could incorporate artificial intelligence to provide proactive feedback and guidance instead of having to search for solutions ourselves. This development is likely to come with time, and we'll patiently await such enhanced functionality."
"Their price is quite high compared to their competitors."
"There should be an improvement in Cisco's response time and overall competence. They should be more easily reachable in Turkey for technical support."
"In future releases, I would like to see improved security and an improved CLI (Command-Line Interface)."
"The D-Link Ethernet Switches have to be replaced because they are difficult to manage and security is poor. They should add centralized manageability to make the solution better, it will allow administrators to better know what is happening on the network."
"The availability could be improved."
"They could be more stable. They were not as resistant as Cisco. After some time, some of them failed. This could be because we import quite a lot of products from different horizons, so there is no guarantee of quality. In Africa, these products don't always directly come from the manufacturer. We get these products from the Middle East or Asia. Therefore, you cannot be sure that the quality is exactly similar to what you have in Europe or America."
"D-Link Ethernet Switches' switching capacity is low. The solution should improve stability and not support Cisco or Juniper networks."
"For high-end switches, the price could be 5% to 10% cheaper. Improvements in the voltage facility, like increasing from 360 watts to 400 or 450 watts, would make them more competitive with other vendors."
"The solution could be cheaper."
"The technical support needs a lot of improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution has a yearly licensing subscription."
"Pricing should be more competitive. There are other switches that are cheaper."
"They are cheaper than Cisco Catalyst Switches."
"There can be limited features for the solution based on the pricing of the package you choose. You will need to pay more to get more performance. However, the router can perform even better with certain extra costs. Sometimes the budgets do not fit all these types of upgrades that become expensive."
"The price of Cisco Linksys Ethernet Switches is higher than competitors, such as Huawei."
"Considering the problems that we have, Linksys is overpriced."
"There is not a license to use the solution but we have a license for support."
"The licensing cost is not bad and is actually very competitive within the product category."
"The D-Link Switches are cheaper than Cisco."
"The solution's pricing is reasonable."
"This product is very affordable, especially compared to Cisco."
"D-Link Ethernet Switches are cheap products for homes and small offices."
"These units vary in price from $200 to one thousand dollars. They're available for a one-time purchase."
"D-Link Ethernet Switches' price is good."
"The price of D-Link Ethernet Switches is in the 4,000 to 5,000 rupees or 65 to 100 USD range. The price of the solution is not expensive."
"There is not a license required for this solution and it is priced well."
