Network security enhancement with sturdy switches despite high costs
The Cisco Ethernet switches are primarily used as regular core switches for networking, distribution, and access levels. We also utilize Cisco Wi-Fi, VPN, and Wi-Fi controllers The Cisco Ethernet switches have improved our network's security, ensuring it is 100% secure by not allowing any…

Enhanced broadcast management with trusted support and intuitive interfaces
Cisco is the best on the Metro Solution side and also strong in the broadcast sector. Cisco and Arista support the IP standard, which is more in demand nowadays for TV broadcasting. Cisco is trusted by most broadcast customers for data centers due to their experience and knowledge. Cisco Linksys switches offer ease of management and experience, especially for engineers holding CCNA certificates. The functionalities and measurements are similar across switches, but Cisco offers a useful web interface.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The hardware is rugged. We use it for the basic configuration."
"I am not sure exactly which feature is most valuable because overall, the device helps us to manage our environment."
"We have a good technical support provider in Turkey that offers support, and we work closely with Cisco. Everything is sorted."
"One main feature of this solution is the POE switches."
"The most valuable feature of Cisco Ethernet Switches is their capacity."
"Its performance and reliability are valuable."
"The product offers very good customer support. It's likely the best in the industry."
"As I am Cisco certified, I like the way that I can program them."
"The solution's efficiency is good compared to other alternatives. It supports both layer 2 and layer 3. The tool's bandwidth management and reliability are also good."
"The most valuable features are uptime and stability."
"It is easy to use and stable."
"It's stable and we never have to worry about it."
"Administration can be done using the web-based interface."
"I would recommend Cisco Linksys Ethernet Switches to other organizations."
"The solution is stable."
"The most valuable feature is the dynamic routing."

Cons

"Cisco has a licensing procedure that is very complicated and it changes every six months."
"Cisco has a lot of propriety protocols compared to other products, such as Arista Networks."
"Cisco Ethernet Switches is a very expensive solution."
"In the future, some of the features could be updated to support the latest functions."
"If Cisco Ethernet Switches can work both on-prem and in the cloud, it would be an advantage."
"Cisco should consider adding a GUI as most vendors now offer the ability to manage switches via a graphical user interface, while Cisco switches are managed using pure CLI."
"Previously, advanced features were included in the basic package, but now they are provided as add-ons that need to be purchased separately."
"It'll also help if it can support more network utilization."
"Cisco Linksys Ethernet Switches are stable but could be better."
"It would be nice if they can provide support for local authentication protocol, which is a security feature. It is not supported right now. They already support security features, so adding some local authentication features would be very nice. Currently, they only support external databases for the stuff for the authentication feature. If they could improve the existing feature or add a feature to support local databases, local username, password authentication, I think it would be very amazing."
"The solution's support can use improvement because they are not very good at following up."
"The simplicity of management could be improved so the object-based switch management is possible."
"The tool is only 75 percent efficient and not 100 percent as expected, making it an area where the tool can be improved."
"The documentation should be improved from Cisco Linksys Ethernet Switches. Although it hints or refers to being able to do certain operations, they try to get you to load the software instead. They need to be more open with their documentation on using the web interface and give the client the option to use the software or not. This improvement is not on the switch itself, it is in the packaging."
"Cisco offers a wide range of features, and in the enterprise and mid-segment market in Europe, we make use of most of them. Some features are essential for our operations, while others may go unused. The feature set provided by Cisco is comprehensive, and there's little more we could ask for. It would be a nice addition if, in the future, Cisco switches could incorporate artificial intelligence to provide proactive feedback and guidance instead of having to search for solutions ourselves. This development is likely to come with time, and we'll patiently await such enhanced functionality."
"Cisco Linksys Ethernet Switches is an expensive solution, and its pricing could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Customers have to pay for some of the L3 switches licenses, which are expensive."
"The pricing for individual use is expensive but partners receive discounts of 70-80 percent for high-end use."
"The cost of this solution is expensive."
"Not inexpensive. Price will vary widely depending on the chosen product and size of the deployment."
"The price is very high though it is priced right for the level of quality."
"The solution does not require a license. However, it is expensive and the price could improve."
"The product is expensive."
"It's a little expensive."
"There is not a license to use the solution but we have a license for support."
"The tool's licensing costs are yearly. You only need to pay standard licensing costs."
"Cisco Linksys Ethernet Switches is a less expensive solution than other vendors."
"Cisco switches are a little expensive when it comes to the price."
"Cisco Linksys Ethernet SwitchesRev Services should be less expensive."
"I think that pricing should be more competitive. While the Cisco product is good, the pricing is not competitive. People will end up going with other cheaper solutions such as Arista."
"If you want any feature, you have to go with the subscriptions offered by the tool."
"It is an expensive solution."

Benefits of Juniper vs Cisco
Both are decent products. I prefer Juniper for the following reasons: 1) Cleaner separation of data plane from control plane. Higher end Cisco devices are better at this but most of the lower end products still seem to be more integrated than I like. 2) The Hierarchical config design means I can…
