Cloud-based solution enhances company backup but comes with high costs
We are using AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery for backup purposes in our company AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery is convenient because it is cloud-based technology. The strong points are the stability and scalability of the solution, as well as the convenience of it being cloud-based. The cost of…

Offers extensive automation capabilities, ransomware remediation and sensitive data discovery are better than other solutions
Rubrik is an important tool for data recovery in case of a ransomware attack. It's a crucial part of their overall venture, as data recovery would be difficult without it. The guarantee of data restoration in a crisis is the main benefit. It's a combination of all features that offer value, like ransomware remediation and sensitive data discovery, that are better than other solutions. Rubrik is emerging with its AI capabilities. Rubrik's AI companion is called Ruby which is very useful.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The strong points are the stability and scalability of the solution, as well as the convenience of it being cloud-based."
"The initial setup is pretty straightforward, it's not complex."
"The setup is pretty straightforward."
"It's on the cheaper side and not too expensive for users."
"CloudEndure Disaster Recovery is a fairly stable solution."
"The initial setup is really straightforward."
"The solution is dependent on the network bandwidth. For example, if they have a bandwidth of 10Mbps the solution will run a little heavier. If the bandwidth is good the solution runs well."
"It provides our disaster recovery solution. It works fine in our tests."
"CloudOn allows for backed up virtual machines stored offsite in Azure to be instantiated as an Azure virtual machine and spun up."
"I value the options it has for storage tiering (i.e. whether it should be a flash, SSD, or pushed to the cloud) depending on the data provided."
"The archiving, off-of-box, is awesome. It lets you put your data where you want it and gives you the peace of mind of having more than one copy of it. And it's smart about the way that it does the archiving. It doesn't just copy one-for-one. It does all of its processing of the deduplication and compression before it sends it off to the archive, which helps with our cloud costs."
"The solution is extremely stable. They've been phenomenal, especially for a young company."
"I think the best feature is its masterless architecture."
"The search functionality is second to none as the speed of the search is fast across the whole system and predictive."
"Live Mount is where we do the majority of our big recoveries, unless it is a file recovery. A file recovery takes a few minutes to restore to where the file in the event a file was accidentally deleted by a user, etc. There has been at least a 90 percent reduction in recovery time based on our previous solution, from the need to recover something to when it's actually recovered went from hours to minutes."
"The web-based approach is the most valuable feature."

Cons

"The UI could be a little sleeker."
"I set up a test, deleted the source, and went to fail it back, and it didn't work."
"Sometimes a server will get a bit behind. "
"The product could be improved by incorporating more AI-driven automation for deployment and additional security features. These enhancements would make the solution even more user-friendly and secure."
"The only thing I would like to see is, they don't have a formal ticketing system. There is no way I can go back and see what questions we had six months back, what issues we had, and how they were resolved."
"The bandwidth is a constant upload communication to the AWS DR environment, so if you do not have the proper bandwidth, it will definitely eat up your internet line."
"I would like to see better support for creating and working with archives."
"The cost of AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery is seen as expensive."
"The solution's reporting feature could be better."
"The main pain points we experienced was the stability of the system. We received a lot of instability when we have upgraded from a certain version to a new version. The newer version was completely filled with bugs and we needed to purge the system every week until we update to a newer version that was available one year later. The stability of the code is the main problem, they need to make it better."
"The Polaris piece could use improvement. When you get a report and you have events that are suspicious, you cannot drill down and find out why it's suspicious. You only know it's suspicious, but you don't know the root cause. Other than that, everything works well."
"The solution could improve by having fewer VM Stuns."
"The price of Rubrik is too high, especially when you are considering a change in the total backup solution."
"Rubrik is expensive."
"The web interface could benefit from some improvement, particularly in terms of alerting and dashboard clarity. The cloud web interface is somewhat confusing and could use more development attention. Additionally, it's essential to ensure that local on-premise management options remain available alongside cloud-based solutions, as internet availability can affect backup management. Regarding features, cross-hypervisor restore functionality would be a valuable addition, allowing for greater flexibility in restoring VMs across different environments."
"Rubrik could improve in customization options for dashboards."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It has saved us money from having to buy hardware for disaster recovery."
"I feel the product's pricing is a good value. Licensing is pretty straightforward."
"CloudEndure Disaster Recovery is charging clients $20 to do the DR backups. It is an expensive solution."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing an eight out of ten."
"We were happy with the pricing that they gave us."
"Where the price adds up, there are CloudEndure licenses, then there is the AWS environment, and finally, there is the AWS storage, so cumulatively, it adds up."
"I rate the price of CloudEndure Disaster Recovery a six out of ten."
"The pricing is better now that they had come out with the Tier 2 which replicates a little less often. In comparison to what I would have been spending with any other type of solution, the pricing is fair."
"I rate the pricing an eight on a scale of one to ten, where one is low, and ten is high."
"Rubrik's support is definitely on the expensive side, but I consider it to be top of the line. We incur no additional costs beyond the standard licensing fees."
"Its price tends to go up with time. Its pricing definitely has room for improvement. If you negotiate right with them, you might get a good price. Support is a part of the package, and every three years, when we renew our contract, we get new hardware."
"Rubrik is a little bit expensive, but it's worth the price."
"It is a great value, but its cost is still a bit high."
"The setup cost is a bit high, but the solution is an all-in-one solution."
"Rubrik was probably the most expensive solution but in the long run, it's justified by the value of the data that it protects."
"The product is not cheap, but for good reason. It simply works and is very fast."
