Straightforward to set up and manage and allows us to monitor all backups in one place
I would rate the easiness of the initial setup as an eight out of ten. Setting up Azure Backup was pretty straightforward, especially if you follow the steps in the right order. It might seem a bit complex at first, but with experience, subsequent setups become easier. Planning is key to optimizing its effectiveness. Deploying Azure Backup typically takes around half an hour to an hour to set up one VM, involving creating a recovery services vault, defining a backup policy, and configuring storage options. For a more comprehensive setup including proper recovery planning, it might take a few hours. The key steps involve creating a resource group, and a recovery services vault, selecting a storage type, and defining backup policies. I deployed the solution myself.

A stable solution with good duplication capabilities and fair pricing
The duplication is the solution's most valuable feature The backup reports and the dashboard need improvement.  I've been using the solution for five years. The solution is quite stable. We haven't had any problems over the past five years of use. Scalability is fine. We keep adding different…

"The most valuable feature of Azure Backup is its ease of use and good integration with other Azure services."
"Azure Backup is easy to configure and restore."
"We use the normal features for Azure Backup, specifically to make backups of the VMs."
"The initial setup was very easy."
"It's very simple to configure which is very useful. It's not complex to configure it."
"Some of the tool's best features include an enhanced dashboard and strong security features compared to native Veritas. Our environment is entirely automated."
"It's a good solution. It's pretty stable."
"I think the most important feature is the ability of SaaS Backup to cover all modules proposed by Office 365, because competing solutions don't cover the total scope."
"It's very comprehensive. It's one of the first brands to appear in its field."
"The solution is stable; I haven't experienced any bugs or glitches on it."
"The most valuable features are the ease of administration and the ease of configuration."
"The solution's hardware appliance is very scalable and very useful."
"Veritas is loaded with features because the appliance is ready to integrate with the cloud in cases where the customers have a hybrid or cloud environment."

Cons

"Azure Backup could improve by offering better integration for Oracle databases and enhancing features like granular restore and backup compliance capabilities."
"Azure Backup is limited to certain workloads. It would be helpful if Microsoft focused on enabling backups for Oracle and other unsupported databases."
"While Azure Backup allows ingress data, the egress data is chargeable, which should be excluded."
"The Azure Backup support for on-premises service is limited."
"For companies frequently accessing data or not using Microsoft Azure, the solution may not be very helpful."
"Technical support is in need of improvement."
"Azure Backup needs improvements in allowing more specific backup options rather than just full VM snapshots. It lacks features for cybersecurity, such as ransomware protection."
"The extensibility onto hybrid environments needs a bit of tweaking for those on-prem."
"The solution does lack a lot of features, and we're considering switching."
"The tool can be improved in terms of maintainability and flexibility, especially as companies grow larger. In these aspects, I feel Veeam is better for cloud and operational purposes."
"When you finish a project, the client should have the opportunity to browse the files rather than simply ending the contract. Also, it's not possible to recover earlier versions. It should be possible to have a database for recovering files after you finish a contract. There's no solution for this from Veritas."
"The backup reports and the dashboard need improvement."
"Licensing has been a struggle. It went from bronze, silver to gold. Licensing needs more sophistication. It has features that are sold as separate add-ons."
"Currently, it isn't possible to use anything other than Veritas cloud to back up to. I think today it's important to cover the three major cloud provider: GCP, Azure and AWS."
"Technical support can be improved."
"The technical team wasn't very helpful."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing of this solution is ok, but I'm expecting that the price will decrease in the future."

"Customers prefer Azure Backup because it has a pay-as-you-go model, and they won't have to pay an upfront amount at the initial level."
"Azure Backup is a moderately priced solution."
"It is a bit costly initially, but it is well worth it in the long run, especially for fighting against a number of threats, such as ransomware, which the IT industry is facing."
"The product's pricing is a three or four out of ten, where one is inexpensive, and ten is costly."
"Considering the fact that our company's enterprise-sized customers use the solution, the product's price is fine and is not on the higher side of the spectrum."
"We do not have any additional costs for Azure Backup."
"The program is quite expensive."
"This solution is not cheap and not expensive but priced in the mid-range."
"I would rate this solution's pricing as five out of five."
"SaaS Backup isn't the most expensive solution."
"The tool is expensive compared to Veeam."
