Solution has a useful AI engine, but the reports could be a bit better
We are typically about a version or two behind. We are on the managed solution. Our model of deployment is on-premises. I would say there are a couple of thousand users of this solution in our company. We are also planning on increasing the usage as our apps migrate to the cloud. I would advise other people looking into solutions, to do their homework beforehand and not assume that by deploying all the tools everything will automatically work, so there's still a lot of configuration involved. I would rate this solution as a whole an eight, on a scale from one to 10, with one being the worst and 10 being the best.

A highly stable solution that can be used to monitor system availability
Opsview is used to monitor system availability, whether its service is running on disk usage, CPU usage, etc Opsview provides us visibility within our platform. So, we know what's going on at all times with all servers across the platform. The most valuable feature of Opsview is the ability to…

"Quick Fault Domain Isolations: When people are having a problem, understanding where to look."
"It has enabled us to have a deeper insight into our application availability and performance."
"A very powerful solution for the end user."
"Integration within the CI/CD pipeline helps avoid problems in production by detecting application faults upfront."
"The PurePath stuff for deep dive analysis on problems. That is massive as far as having a benefit."
"Real-time alerts allow us to address issues as they happen."
"We spend less time on troubleshooting issues since Dynatrace proactively informs us of an impending bottle neck."
"I am satisfied with the overall product since it works well…It is a stable solution."
"What was very compelling about OpsView was that we could dial out the noise and have meaningful and actionable alerts."
"We use this solution for internal monitoring our own cloud platform because we are a public cloud provider. We also use it for monitoring purposes on behalf of our clients."
"The most valuable feature of Opsview is the ability to clone the services when you're monitoring something out of the test setup."
"It's a good solution. It covers all aspects of monitoring purposes."

Cons

"The integration with PagerDuty is currently broken on mobile."
"We should be able to easily simplify both the charting and slicing-and-dicing of user metrics with cookies that contain customer/user information."
"Dynatrace must reduce the required resources for on-premise, because they are too high."
"A role-based view and a Python monitoring tool would make a simple user interface more usable."
"We have some issues with react user sessions."
"They need to develop how to capture the JDBC and MBeans metrics."
"When integrating this solution with any third party applications, there is an additional cost to pay. This can make the solution very costly to use."
"It's not very scalable, we cannot add another server onto it."
"In a future release, we would like to have Observ for AI. Any AI and intelligence it can add to the monitoring is obviously beneficial. We would also like to have automated callouts."
"Some of the graphics on Opsview could be improved."
"Maybe the graphical representation can be improved. It can be enhanced for better visualization. It could be a little better. And the graph center can be improved."
"Customized reporting can be improved."
"Pricing and a few certain aspects in the solution needs to be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is not bad, but it could be better."
"Dynatrace's pricing for their consumption units is rather arcane compared to some of the other tools, thus making forward-looking calculations based on capacity planning quite hard."
"Always gives good ROI and total cost of ownership."
"We purchased a subscription for one year and it is an expensive solution for a large enterprise like ours."
"Its licensing is complicated or not transparent."
"Dynatrace is the most expensive APM that we sell, compared to competitors' products. The license pricing could be improved. My customers pay for licensing yearly."
"Its price is quite high. Although it is worth it, it would be better if its price is reduced. They base their prices around licensing. Their prices are based on agent licensing and consumption licensing. Both of these can be a bit cheaper, but if they are the best in the market, as I consider them to be, I assume that their prices will be higher. They are delivering the product for that price."
"The product is really fast to implement and gives customers instant value. This is important, because it reduces costs on the implementation."
"The solution is not cheap. I think that the pricing is a little bit on the high side."
"The solution is priced similarly to other tools offering similar features."
"I would rate pricing a seven out of ten, where ten is the highest price."
