Can automate several processes with only one bot and is easy to implement, administer, and use
We have tried other RPA solutions like UiPath or Automation Anywhere. They are fantastic products but complex, and it's hard to understand everything. It would be best if you had a skilled developer or several. Automate is easy to implement, administer, and use. It's appropriate for us because our cases are simple and easy to automate. We don't need complicated tools with many features; We prefer to get a significant ROI quickly. We can automate several processes with only one bot, so it's much cheaper than other products where you need to buy additional licenses. We need a good value for our automation. The other solutions might be more robust, but Automate is perfect for us because we're not a large enterprise.

Stable with good cross-integration between modules, but the training needs to be improved
We mainly use UiPath as our RPA platform. I have looked at several other solutions that include the bigger ones, Blue Prism, and Automation Anywhere. We have experience in developing bots in all three of these. It is difficult to move from UiPath to EdgeVerve when UiPath is so good at getting people in the door. They've got a great ecosystem and a great training model. Every other system is more challenging to use. To get an EdgeVerve license, for example, you need to have an NDA in place to use it. Blue Prism is even worse, although, with them, you just have to pay more money. By not democratizing the software and the way to utilize it, smaller companies like EdgeVerve and even Blue Prism, to a certain extent, have suffered in terms of growth. The three leaders at the top do a pretty good job. Outside of workflow, they do a pretty good job, and that's why the customers buy, so you have to be strong on those. As far as the tools are concerned, RPA is RPA, and everybody generally does it in the same way. What is probably going to start distinguishing between products is the use of AI. When AI really overtakes the selectors for RDA, robotic desktop automation, when you have to really rely on the backdrop of the DOM to get at the element, the use of AI and more efficient on-prem AI solutions is going to really make that a better experience. The on-premises distinction is important because there's latency when you hit the cloud. Ultimately, to me, the toolsets are all the same. Drag and drop, the ability to create custom activities in terms of creating your libraries, and that kind of thing, they're all there. This past year has been ridiculous in terms of how all of the tools have progressed. What they were a year ago versus what they are today, is a considerable and significant difference. For example, I have totally redesigned my solutions and architectures over the past year.

It lets us automate almost anything and is very easy to work with
It currently supports only on-premises deployments. They can include support for cloud deployments. It should provide us the ability to choose a robot for executing a workflow. We want to control which robot executes a certain workflow. Right now, it automatically chooses the robot that is going to execute our workflow. It should also provide the ability to get filters on the outputs of the steps. We have each workflow as a step, and each step has some output. We would like to have the functionality to execute some script or some logic on these outputs to format the tests directly on the variables.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The interface is simple, user-friendly, and very intuitive."
"The licensing of the product is very good. You only need to license it once and then you have it forever."
"This product is quite easy to install, learn, and use, with our new employees being able to start using it in projects for clients after only two weeks of internal training."
"I actually quite liked the no-coding functionality."
"Compared to other vendors, it's the scheduling tool because a lot of vendors want to charge you extra for their enterprise-level license to have a scheduling tool built in to give you the ability to set up regular schedules to run and do certain data checks."
"I find it very user-friendly. Our IT department and other departments can seamlessly collaborate without requiring extensive training. As a business department, we particularly value this aspect, as our team doesn't consist of many IT users. However, we couldn't solely rely on a drag-and-drop approach to implement and utilize the solution within our departments."
"This tool has machine learning and voice recognition and computer vision, which are both quite useful aspects. These aren't available in other tools. It's a good addition to this tool and it gives the solution an edge on the market."
"The best feature of Automate is its ease of use, which is a major selling point."
"I would say that the cross-integration between different modules, such as between the OCR, RPA, and ML, is the most valuable feature."
"It lets us automate almost anything, even with the legacy tools. It is very easy for us now to automate with legacy tools, which used to be difficult earlier. We work with a lot of other automation tools from Micro Focus, such as Operation Orchestration, but these tools can only connect to the API. So, there was a gap when we wanted to automate older and legacy tools that didn't have any API to connect to. We can now also automate without any changes in the customer environment. We don't need to change anything in the way that the customer environment works."

Cons

"Error messages should be better. For error status, there should be better documentation because a lot of times, error messages that you get are quite vague. For example, you get a message saying that the workflow has run into an unknown status, which is vague. It just tells you that it failed, but you don't know how or why it failed. It makes debugging difficult."
"While this solution is continually improving, as it is now, the user interface could use improvement when I compare it to a product like UiPath."
"The documentation for errors needs improvement as many of the error messages we receive are very vague."
"We really need a free development environment for customers. Building and testing automation on production isn't ideal."
"I believe we need to test various OCR tools that assist in evaluating, let's say, six different customer resyncs. We analyze their spending patterns and documentations, but current OCR support has limitations, requiring highly standardized documents, which isn't always the case. With a more advanced OCR system, we could improve processes related to credit risk management and legal matters. We're exploring how to integrate Fortra's Automate with our CRM platform, taking cues from instances where Salesforce seamlessly merged with Automate. However, we use a different CRM, Insight for New Enterprise, and we're seeking ways to connect the automation process within our CRM. We aim for the automation to continue smoothly, even in instances where traditional automation methods might face hurdles."
"They do not encrypt passwords, so this is an issue with HIPAA compliance."
"The product also has a limited use case in some respects."
"Sometimes when we communicate with the ERP system and there is an issue, we are not always aware of the specifics of Automate and the source of the problem."
"Better training and better accessibility of the tools are the things that need to be improved."
"It currently supports only on-premises deployments. We would like to have the functionality to execute some script or some logic on these outputs to format the tests directly on the variables."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is quite reasonable. We can run the process with one bot. The limitation is at the server level because they have some resources, and sometimes that is enough. It isn't too expensive, so you can get a good return off of one, and you can also have a pack of five bots that is quite competitive."
"I like the way this solution is priced because you can buy a license, or you can buy the software outright."
"I'm only involved in running the product and maintaining the systems, so I can't speak to the cost."
"While solutions like UiPath and Blue Prism cost around $11,000-$12,000 for each license, this product costs around $7,000 and you can keep it forever."
"I believe the price falls within a reasonable range, which significantly influenced our decision regarding the product. This aspect is crucial for any technological solution, especially in our country where enterprises might be hesitant to invest heavily in something untested or uncertain about its practicality and potential returns."
"Compared to other products, the pricing model for this solution is much more convenient, flexible, and adaptable to the Portuguese reality."
"From a distributor's perspective, one of the biggest selling points of Automate is its price point."
"From a distributor's side, one of the biggest selling points is its price point. Without going into any numbers, compared to UiPath, Automation Anywhere, and Blue Prism, we're significantly cheaper. The main difference is that other competitors usually charge you per process. However, in Automate's case, it's priced per bot. So, a bot can run multiple processes at the same time, but you are only priced for a single bot."

"The pricing model is very straightforward. You can have a one-year or three-year subscription. You pay for each robot that you want to use simultaneously. If you want, you can install 50 robots and get 50 licenses. If you want to use only one robot at a time, you just need one license. For each license, you pay around 10% or 15% to support. You pay for the license, and you pay a small percentage of the cost of the license for support. This is their licensing model, which is very easy to understand."
