A scalable SIEM solution for monitoring a user's activity in the file server
My company uses FileAudit as an SIEM solution, and it is used for monitoring the file server activity to find out what users did in the file server, which may include modifying the file, deleting it, or just copying the file from the confidential file server. FileAudit is to find out the details of…

Really scalable for enterprise customers
The solution should have more integration capabilities with different platforms. The API is nearly open and scalable, so the solution can integrate with many platforms. The solution has more than 200 log sources in the scalability to support, but this is its limit. Installation is pretty easy. However, there are a couple of modules involved, so it is not as easy as it could be. We are talking about a distributed module, not a single-module type. This is what makes things a bit complex, instead of easier. I rate it as a seven out of ten on its installation and configuration capabilities.

Quotes from Members

"It is a good and stable solution...It is a scalable solution."
"I can have enterprise security, email security, next generation firewall security log, HIDS and NIDS logs, etc. all on the same dashboard. It makes it easy to pinpoint or correlate our server to this. I can find out if there is lateral movement. This is the biggest advantage of this solution."
"The most valuable features are its ingestion of logs and raising of alerts based on those logs."
"The solution is really scalable for the high-end power, enterprise customer."
"The most valuable features are the packet inspection and the automated incident response."
"NetWitness can be highly beneficial for incident detection and response."
"The most valuable feature is the security that it provides."
"NetWitness Platform is valuable for creating rules that the solution must detect."
"The software is scalable to whatever is required, and you can also put a lot of resources in the cloud."

Cons

"Whenever someone cuts and paste, it shows as "file is deleted"."
"The DLP function, including installation of the agent on the workstation and controlling the DLP restrictions, are areas where the product lacks."
"The updates management and central management console could be improved."
"Lots of competing products have vulnerability protection built into their products, and this solution would be improved by including that support."
"The documentation is not as structured as I would like, personally, and I think that it can be improved and made much more user-friendly."
"It should have a monitoring feature. It would help us analyze the current state of attacks faster from a single platform."
"An area for improvement would be better automation and more inbuilt use cases."
"The multi-tenant capabilities are lagging compared to IBM QRadar."
"If we have the ability to run a dynamic analysis through malware in the same suite, it would be great to have a sandbox solution to analyze malware through dynamic analysis."
"Its technical support could be better."
"The system architecture is complex and sometimes it’s hard to troubleshoot potential problems."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"FileAudit provides a trial license for 30 days, and after that, customers can choose between perpetual licensing or the annual-based licensing option offered by FileAudit."
"The product is expensive."
"It is cheap."

"Compared to the competition, the is price is not that high."
"The new pricing and licensing mechanisms are fair. I would advise always to get the full solution (i.e., not only Logs)."
