Facilitates secure 2FA for admins, facilitates OTP generation, and enhances security
One suggestion is to develop a more user-friendly solution that is cost-effective so that a hardware-based solution can be provided to all users using VPN services or any configuration service requiring confidentiality. This would allow for broader distribution among a larger number of system admins and software engineers, which is currently not feasible with the existing hardware-only approach.

A solution with good capabilities across a wide range of platforms that comes with a useful mobile application, but upgrades cause issues
We have noticed that patches and upgrades cause issues with how the application functions, due to the lack of stability of the product. However, we would recommend the solution because it has good capabilities, across a wide range of platforms, and the mobile application allows for use via Bluetooth, so users don't have to be connected to the internet. I would rate this solution a seven out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Fortinet offers a comprehensive solution for network security, particularly with its very effective zero-trust network access approach."
"Fortinet FortiToken provides security and authenticates that the right external people are working with a company's system."
"Overall, I rate the FortiToken solution as nine out of ten. I would definitely recommend it due to its effectiveness in enhancing security."
"The solution is simple and similar to Google Authenticator. It follows time-based authentication. We use it for hardware and software in one environment. The tool offers simple and fast authentication for SSL."
"FortiToken is a cost-effective solution compared to other solutions, such as Cisco."
"The integrated Fortinet security with the app that allows you to easily do the two-factor authentication is most valuable."
"The solution is pretty solid."
"FortiToken is available in a soft or hard token factor, so there's some flexibility in that. Beyond that, I would say it is a stable solution that has worked for us."
"This solution has a mobile application, which comes with multi-factor authentication; allowing for more flexible usage, without having to sacrifice system security."

Cons

"They need to develop a more user-friendly solution that is cost-effective so that a hardware-based solution can be provided to all users using VPN services or any configuration service requiring confidentiality."
"I'm not sure if it's already available, however, I wonder if there's an option to have it sent to my email address instead of having it on the mobile app."
"The problem is that our customers create budgets annually based on the figures at the beginning of the fiscal year. Our customers get annoyed when the price is adjusted in the middle of the year. I understand that it's a difficult time, and price increases make sense for hardware devices. However, FortiToken is a software product, so it shouldn't be affected by factors like chip shortages or supply chain issues. Software solutions should have more transparent and predictable pricing."
"One suggestion is to develop a more user-friendly solution that is cost-effective so that a hardware-based solution can be provided to all users using VPN services or any configuration service requiring confidentiality."
"The tool could be a little cheaper."
"I would rate the scalability a seven out of ten. The migration issue definitely brings it down a bit."
"They could enhance synchronization with mobile applications, and addressing minor issues with authentication could further improve user experience."
"Its reporting should be better. The reporting feature is missing. I don't have any reporting of who has done what, what has failed, and what didn't work."
"The product suffers from frequent disturbances in service, that have impacted our end users when we deploy software updates."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I rate the tool's pricing a five out of ten."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing a six out of ten."
"Overall, it's cheaper than other solutions. Of course, we evaluated it five years back, and I haven't checked to see its current market position, but one reason we adopted FortiToken is its lower cost of ownership relative to other solutions we evaluated."
"The platform's licensing cost is reasonable for our organization."
"I would rate the pricing as an eight out of ten. We purchased the solution at a reasonable price in 2019."
"The pricing is not very high, so I'd rate it around six out of ten, where one is high and ten is low."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one is the cheapest, and ten is the highest, I rate the pricing an eight."
"It is included as part of our firewall license."
