Stops evolving threats and offers peace of mind
We use the solution for wireless scanning, reporting, and monitoring.  The product is not resource-intensive.  The tool's most valuable feature is virus scanning, which has saved us from malware and ransomware.  We need to be able to whitelist data at the backend.  I have been using the product…

Facilitates creation of your own content-filtering policies with relative ease
Ability to create message bypasses for groups and/or individuals. Meaning, you do not have to "whitelist" email domains or addresses when a specific bypass will do. Personal Message Manager (PMM): It allows users to release or delete quarantined messages. Also, allows users to add people to a…

Quickly determines if a file is malicious or not, allowing us to create a copy of the static content without having to go through the discovery process
MetaDefender Email Security's multi-scanning capabilities for detecting malware are satisfactory. While the package offers eight, twelve, and sixteen scans, the premium solutions that include advanced anti-agents such as Trend Micro, McAfee, and CrowdStrike are costly. The basic mode of the package we sell only offers basic scanning and most people are likely unaware of the antivirus engine's name. While multi-scanning is a useful feature, we would prefer to see the basic version include more advanced scanning options. The DLP should be upgraded and has room for improvement. The central management center is not yet at the level of an enterprise. It has all the necessary components to create a standalone solution, and the local management center has everything required. However, when it comes to selling to larger enterprises, the central management center is still at a junior level. This means that there are many features, such as reporting based on login and connectivity to external systems, that require manual configuration rather than being included in a complete solution from a management perspective. The solution has many components, but it lacks a cohesive central focus for customers. It is, for example, a company that is an OT security company, but it suddenly shifted its focus to cloud security for secure access, which is confusing. The price of MetaDefender Email Security has room for improvement. The configuration has room for improvement.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The good part is that you don't have to configure it, which is very convenient."
"The basic features are okay and I'm satisfied with the Defender."
"The initial setup is straightforward. You just add the license, click it, and then you can set up the rules. It is quite simple."
"There are several features that I consider valuable."
"Defender for 365 is a comprehensive cloud-based solution. The value of the cloud is that you aren't alone. Threat intelligence and analytics are shared in the cloud. We don't have to find the solution alone. If you face an unknown threat with traditional solutions like Trend Micro and Symantec, you need to open a case and send your information to them to analyze forensically and identify the source of the attack."
"The technical support is good and quick to resolve issues."
"I like its investigation capabilities, as that is what is most important to me. It is fairly simple with a user-friendly interface."
"Defender for Office 365 has helped eliminate having to look at multiple dashboards and that is the aspect I like most about it. It is simpler, effective, and convenient. The users like the process efficiency."
"A stable solution."
"Ability to create your own content-filtering policies with relative ease."
"The most valuable feature is called summary reconstruction which is used to deliver encrypted files to users."
"The most valuable feature of MetaDefender Email Security is the CDR. Customers purchase this solution specifically for data communication, as the other features can be obtained through other technologies that most customers already possess. Therefore, data communication serves as the foundation for the platform."
"The sanitization is very good."

Cons

"Configuring the default strategies and policies in Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps generates a lot of noise and false positives."
"We need to be able to whitelist data at the backend."
"The XDR dashboard has room for improvement."
"They can improve their security in a way where a customer can know if all their attachments are safe or not to open through a report. The solution does its job perfectly, but it never reports to the customer whether those attachments have been stopped before or not."
"We noticed that from time to time, Microsoft's stability does have problems. Sometimes the service goes up and down. Sometimes they change without prior notice."
"The custom alerts have to improve a lot."
"You should be able to deploy Defender for every subscription without the need to add servers."
"Microsoft should provide more documentation for users so they can self-educate. I would like to see more documentation for advanced security features."
"Malware needs improvement."
"FTP server and TRUST Manager functionality."
"Although the number of AV engines is good, it could be better."
"The DLP should be upgraded and has room for improvement."
"They offer a feature called SmartLink neutralization. I have tried it before. It seemed to work most of the time; however, I had a few users for whom it just wouldn't work. Whenever they click on a link, it stays on the MetaDefender page, saying that it's scanning it and never moves forward."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I was working in the government and it was too expensive for us to use our Microsoft products."
"While Microsoft Defender for Office 365 necessitates pricier E3 or E5 subscriptions, the extensive functionality offered by these licenses across various Microsoft products justifies the investment."
"It's a user-base subscription."
"For large enterprise organizations, they can definitely afford it, but for small and medium organizations, they might struggle to cover the expenses."
"For licensing, it's usually a yearly package for customers who are subscribed to Office 365, but they can also pay on a monthly basis."
"The product is very expensive."
"Microsoft Defender for Office 365 is an add-on to the Office license. Many customers are purchasing this solution."
"From the pricing point of view, like any other product in the market, there is scope for negotiation."
