Offers profiling and address standardization but can be complicated
Informatica Data Quality has its data warehouse, primarily using Oracle and some SQL databases. You need a database to host the data. The cleansed version of the data is stored in the data warehouse. It integrates with PowerCenter and other Informatica tools. The integration details can be complex, but a regional setup is involved in this process. Profiling smaller datasets, such as 10,000-50,000 records, worked fine. However, unexpected issues could arise with larger datasets, such as thousands of records or more, especially with tables containing many columns. Handling tables with fifty or more columns can be challenging, even in Excel. A mismatch in data types could cause the entire system to crash. Continual enhancements are being made to address these issues, which can be unique to specific industries like finance and healthcare.

Efficiently manages and monetizes API
It is a scalable solution. You can add more computing power to your APM gateway. It also gives you the ability to have VNet integrations with your on-prem. It is one of the leading products in the API management space. It is not just software for users but software to handle requests. For example, for a B2C e-commerce store, all requests that users make from within the store pass through this API gateway. So it is defined by the number of requests to the API gateway, not by the number of actual users who use it. If you look at the number of requests, it would be a lot from all the different systems we have within Pampers.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The ability to aggregate and put together data from around fifty sources into one environment allows us to have a preview of everything in a single place, which is something we did not have previously in our company."
"The most valuable features are the structure masking and platform masking."
"We use it for various use cases, including data provisioning, data validation, continuous monitoring of data quality, and data standardization."
"The governance process was fully manual before, but Axon helped us configure those processes, giving us more visibility, transparency, and control over the data."
"The application integration will give you more flexibility when dealing with APIs."
"It has a more UI-based tool, and the scripting is good."
"The solution has multiple valuable features for metadata collection"
"The most important features are the mastering of the data and the UI intuitiveness."
"We're very satisfied with Azure API Management. We've had no issues with bugs, everything runs smoothly, and the connection between the cloud and the on-premise infrastructure was good."
"Most of the features are valuable to me."
"Security is the top feature of Azure API Management."
"I like the support they provide for the APIs more than the solution itself. First of all, documentation-wise, both Microsoft Azure and even Google Cloud are up there. But in comparison, the real-time consulting and support for APIs make Microsoft stand out a little. I also like the performance. Standard public cloud provider-built APIs are more resilient and flexible in terms of what feature you want to use and what feature you don't want to use, and they're more customizable. They are more resilient in terms of performance in that particular environment because that is the design aspect of the offering. When public clouds build APIs and deploy them after testing them on their framework for a certain amount of time, I feel there is a massive difference in the product's performance. On the interface, everything is strong."
"This solution is very flexible, and it's very compatible with the other Azure products."
"The documentation and configuration of APIs."
"It is easy to use."
"The tool is very easy to use and manage APIs."

Cons

"While my company operates on the cloud, we have seen that Informatica Cloud Data Integration has some performance issues causing it to lag."
"Considering internal data from legacy systems, it is quite difficult to know if Informatica Data Quality meets that high level of accuracy criteria."
"The error information provided is not informative, as compared to Power Center."
"The product is not too user-friendly to do the configurations."
"The configurations could be better. It is a bit confusing because we must develop two tools when building a data model in Informatica MDM. Even though Informatica MDM is a single tool, we have our hub console plus the provisioning tool within that. Whatever data model we are building in the hub console, we have to develop it in the provisioning tool again. It is double the work to create a data model. We are also using external calls or the Java custom plans functions. This can be both positive and negative. Since MDM as a client does not support any complex validation, we have to depend on the external call or a Java call. Every time we deployed, the entire solution was impacted if something went wrong."
"I have encountered some issues using the substitution, which is one of the techniques of data masking."
"Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog could improve by having a much better user interface. It is not user-friendly."
"The stability and the integration of the solution have room for improvement."
"Maybe the customization could be a bit better."
"Security could be improved."
"Support for GraphQL could be better."
"It can be quite complex, somewhat lacking in flexibility."
"Specific to API development, I think Microsoft is still far behind AWS. AWS has grown by leaps and bounds, and Microsoft is a close second. But in terms of features and other stuff they provide, Microsoft's compatibility with publicly available APIs is a little limited. So, that is a little bit of a constraint. But what they provide is good, it's just that they need to build more on their API suite. I think Google is doing a really good job at that."
"There is always room for improvement. There should be more analytics abilities so you can know how much traffic there is. Log Analyzer isn't well integrated with this solution."
"The cloud deployment performance could be better."
"Technical support could be more helpful and responsive."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Informatica MDM is very expensive. Apart from licensing fees, they have broken down their products into multiple products, and they charge for each and every product. If the data is huge, they charge for the data. At times, we have to use third party services for data cleaning, and they charge for that as well."
"It's pretty high for us. It's more on the higher side, like low to middle high."
"It is an expensive solution. I would say it is the most expensive solution in the market."
"Cost-wise, I think it is on the higher side, and that is why we are looking for some better options. Licensing costs are huge compared to other players in the market and for my company."
"Licensing is difficult to understand, but the team is always available to explain anything. They are very helpful."
"The product is very expensive"
"Informatica MDM's pricing is not cheap but comparable to other vendors."
"You pay for this solution based on IPUs, Informatica Processing Units. This depends on how much data you process and how much memory you consume from the cloud provider, and you pay as you go."
"Licensing fees are paid on an annual basis."
"Microsoft Azure is an expensive solution not for the large enterprises but for the medium and small."
"It costs around 30,000 Kronas a month, which translates to about $3,000 dollars monthly."
"Azure is a pay-as-you-go model. You build out your virtual environment and pay a monthly price depending on CPU cores, storage, etc."
"This is an expensive solution."
"We are paying standard fees to use Microsoft Azure API Management."
"I would describe the tool's price as being in the mid-range category."
"We pay for a yearly license."
