A tool with the ability to aggregate and put together data from multiple sources into a single place
I use Informatica MDM to align data in my company The ability to aggregate and put together data from around fifty sources into one environment allows us to have a preview of everything in a single place, which is something we did not have previously in our company. The most valuable feature I…

Stable solution with good scalability
Since we built our product around APM, our clients use it directly. They find APM to be a simple and straightforward solution that fulfills all their API management needs. Our clients use APM because it's a SaaS-based solution that comes with Azure Stack-managed services, making it easy for us to…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The advanced features like task flow and conditional integration are particularly useful."
"Informatica MDM has a defined data model we can customize with user and developer options."
"It allows the creation of identical tasks that can be applied across multiple tables, ranging from 100 to even 1,000 tables."
"It has become an easy way to exchange information through any cloud application."
"The OAuth feature is the most valuable feature for authentication."
"The features I find most valuable is the synchronization, verification, functionalities and all the data integration features."
"I like the connectivity and richness of features for the technical team, the maturity of the product, and that it had a cloud version. There is Informatica Cloud, and it is part of the Informatica Cloud platform."
"It is a highly scalable solution."
"The API management is very good."
"We're pretty much using all of the monetizations features out of the API manager so we can put up a portal and have a dev portal and then a prod portal and do rate limiting."
"It's a valuable tool for API lifecycle management"
"The mediation and translation from SOAP to REST technology makes it possible to open up legacy systems that couldn't be opened before."
"Everything is already available and ready to operate without a lot of preparation work."
"I like that security features can be integrated with API Management. I also like that you can perform rate-limiting and throttling functions."
"The integration with Azure Active Directory is a good security feature for authentication and authorization. There is multifactor authentication. You can also use all of the Azure AD features integrated with API Management."
"I like the support they provide for the APIs more than the solution itself. First of all, documentation-wise, both Microsoft Azure and even Google Cloud are up there. But in comparison, the real-time consulting and support for APIs make Microsoft stand out a little. I also like the performance. Standard public cloud provider-built APIs are more resilient and flexible in terms of what feature you want to use and what feature you don't want to use, and they're more customizable. They are more resilient in terms of performance in that particular environment because that is the design aspect of the offering. When public clouds build APIs and deploy them after testing them on their framework for a certain amount of time, I feel there is a massive difference in the product's performance. On the interface, everything is strong."

Cons

"Compared to other tools in the market, Informatica MDM is costly."
"The vendor should have more training resources: online classes, free tutorial videos, etc."
"This solution is hard to set up and its interface is not user-friendly. It's also not as stable, and the technical support takes a lot of time to solve simple problems."
"The integration with other data management tools can be enhanced. For instance, there is no integration with tools like Collibra or Hubview."
"The model is somewhat flexible. There are certain aspects of the model that are not as flexible as we would like. It doesn't do certain things to a great level of depth. So, in situations where we want to drill in to do something specific, we have to essentially copy that data into our own structures in order to add that additional layer of flexibility."
"Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog could improve by having a much better user interface. It is not user-friendly."
"Their UI needs improvement. Their scorecards and reporting also need improvement. Their data quality reporting, especially their dashboards and scorecards, is lackluster at best. Its reporting capabilities are limited. If you want to do anything beyond its limited reporting capabilities, then you're going to have to use an external reporting tool such as Power BI or something like that."
"Though EDC has maximum coverage, a few things were not available to scan, but I think EDC is evolving to address this issue."
"In the next release, Azure APIM should include deployment in various environments and CI/CD for deployment."
"I could that the UI could be improved."
"The hybrid part could be improved because API Management is entirely cloud-based, but some of our resources are on-prem, so formatting is an issue. Our goal is dual implementation."
"I would like to see more integration with other platforms, as well as increased security."
"This solution is only available as a cloud-based deployment and it would be very helpful to have an on-premises version."
"The scalability of this solution could be improved. The volume which the API Management task service can handle needs to be improved. Cost wise, this solution could be optimized."
"Microsoft Azure API Management could improve the documentation. The documentation feels like marketing information and not sufficient technical information. Your easiest option is to purchase services from a Microsoft partner and this is their marketing."
"Could use clearer configuration when it comes to API policies."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution's pricing model is easy, but it is very expensive."
"Its pricing model can be improved."
"There is no doubt that it is very expensive, but the brand value comes at a cost. Other MDM solutions in the market that haven't proven themselves like Informatica are also pretty expensive. We need to understand that MDM itself is very expensive to implement. So, Informatica is also pretty expensive. I would rate it a two out of five for being pretty expensive."
"Cost-wise, I think it is on the higher side, and that is why we are looking for some better options. Licensing costs are huge compared to other players in the market and for my company."
"Licensing is difficult to understand, but the team is always available to explain anything. They are very helpful."
"The platform has a premium cost. I rate the pricing as seven out of ten."
"We are quite happy with the licensing model."
"I rate the product's pricing a nine on a scale of one to ten, where one is low price, and ten is high price."
"Microsoft Azure is an expensive solution not for the large enterprises but for the medium and small."
"The product pricing is reasonable."
"Because of our partner relationship, our pricing is pretty decent. But in general, if I compare pricing, I think the initial offer that we got from Microsoft until the relationship kicked in was more expensive than AWS. There were some unexpected expenses because we had to pause. This was due to our inexperience and because we were doing this significant public cloud migration for the first time. We were using SAP on a public cloud for the first time."
"The price of the solution is reasonable compared to others."
"Based on the resources that we are leveraging, the price we are paying to use this solution is slightly higher than other competitors. In a few cases, it has its own advantage in some resources."
"This is an expensive solution."
"The price is comparable."
"The developer and standard pricing tiers of Azure API Management are very competitive compared to other products."
