Streamlines integration for financial services and automotive sectors
It's cloud, so that's the pro. It has all the features that other API manager does, and there are some features that vary from product to product. Everything cannot be brought upon MuleSoft or Anypoint API Manager. Right now, the universal API Manager is applicable for any API hosted in any server, it is not only MuleSoft. If we can bring the feature, I am a customer who has a MuleSoft API, as well as an on-prem API, which is developed on Java or some other integration tool. Still, I wanted to leverage the API Manager capability to my non-mule APIs. If these kinds of features are provided to the customer, I think they should be very happy with that approach.

Has valuable security features, but the technical support documentation needs improvement
Currently, TIBCO Cloud API Management primarily facilitates connections to service endpoints within its internal mesh in the cloud. It allows integration logic to be executed within this environment, providing connectivity between applications and data. Regarding user interface and user experience, the platform could be more intuitive than other platforms like MuleSoft. This is because it was built before the API management trend took off, so it focuses more on services, endpoints, and other technical aspects. Additionally, there are severe limitations in terms of documentation exposed for the developer portal, which has had severe limitations in the past. The developer portal serves as the business card for the API services hosted on the platform, but its presentation options have been somewhat simplistic. I would recommend TIBCO Cloud API Management despite the issues it may have. From what I've observed in the marketplace, it remains one of the top options available. I rate it a seven out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"This is a good API management product."
"The ESB, the enterprise service bus is what we primarily use. In addition to that, the API management. These are the two tools which we have been using extensively. The enterprise platform."
"Whenever there was an issue, the support was excellent."
"Mulesoft Anypoint API Manager's most valuable aspect is it has plenty of features."
"Technical support has been helpful."
"We use it heavily because Azure offers better pricing than its competitors."
"The auto-creation of the API documentation is useful."
"When using the Mulesoft Anypoint Platform, it has a wide range of connectors that are readily available to connect with the multiple applications."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to have different packages based on the API keys. The same core system can have different packages based on different environments."
"Very few outages or SLA issues."
"When we did the product evaluation, we saw that TIBCO Mashery offers end-to-end API life cycle management. It provides all API features that are required for managing the complete life cycle. It includes the developer portal and tools for API monitorization. The out-of-box security features that TIBCO Mashery provides are enterprise-grade, which gives it an edge over other API products."
"The control that we have and the security features are very valuable. With regard to API implementation or API orchestration, it works very well in the cloud because as soon as you create an API with one click, you can actually expose your APIs."
"Conversion to RESTful and SOAP protocols and management console (can manage individually throttled settings to manage our service levels for customers)."
"The solution is a good general API manager. They have a few propriety features but are offering items that are standard in the industry as well."
"We can completely manage the APIs at the org level and BU (business unit) level."
"The platform's most valuable features are its capabilities to support security measures such as tokenization, token refresh, throttling, and enforcement of payloads."

Cons

"One improvement is maybe to add a plugin in the API manager. Let's say an organisation is using SOAP services or legacy APIs. Maybe I don't want to migrate it to rest API, but my plugin should be able to convert Jason to XML. Basically, protocol transformation features in API Manager."
"The dashboards in Mulesoft Anypoint API Manager could improve."
"To improve Anypoint API Manager for the next release, it should focus on better consumption scalability, especially for smaller APIs."
"I would like to see MuleSoft expand the range of APIs you can manage with it beyond HTTP, GIPC, and others."
"I'd suggest more control over MQ restarts and greater transparency in traffic management."
"Since most components are situated in the cloud, there's one particular hosted in the cloud. This presents a considerable challenge. While all other components are implemented on-premises, this specific one isn't permitted to be hosted in the cloud as per customer requirements. Shifting this component to an on-premises environment requires a significant effort."
"Monetization and cataloging can be improved."
"I think that they can bring some transparency in reference to the terms of the microservices architecture."
"TIBCO Cloud API Management should improve its installation and make it easy."
"It lacks many features at the API gateway compared to other solutions."
"The management console of API and customers' applications are not the most intuitive."
"Policy management has been a bit of a concern."
"The way agile life cycle is working needs improvement. I also want to see more support for open API standards. I want to see some improvement on the protocol transformation. That is quite missing now. These are the three main issues."
"They can fix some stability issues and probably make it more user-friendly so that not only an IT savvy person but an end-user can also easily navigate through this solution."
"We observed delays under heavy load conditions, and without proper tuning, changes could take an extended period to filter and become effective."
"I'd like to see TIBCO integrate authentication and security features into Mashery."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is quite reasonable and affordable."
"The product is highly priced compared to other advanced software. It is affordable only for tier-one customers."
"The product is expensive."
"The pricing is very expensive, although you get a lot of power from the product."
"I'm unsure about licensing costs because I'm not the person who handles this. But, ballpark, it's probably somewhere around $300,000-$400,000 or something like that."
"The licensing fees are approximately $80,000 USD per year and there are costs for additional functionality, as well as premiums for connectors to systems such as Oracle and SAP."
"When it comes to determining price, the pre-sales team interacts with the customer's primary integration team and the price is negotiated based on the specific usage of the system."
"The price of Mulesoft Anypoint API Manager is very high."
"We have secured terms on which we have been happy to renew for a number of years."
"Its price is pretty reasonable. There are some lightweight API options available in the market, but given the feature set that TIBCO provides, its price is really reasonable."
"TIBCO Cloud API Management is not an expensive solution."
"Licensing is quite flexible."
