Can seamlessly translate protocols and produce fairly quick results
Using the solution was great. It was part of the project that we didn't worry that much about. What I also liked about it was that even though I'm not that technical, I could go in and look at thoughts and events and confirm that the information we were looking for was making it across. I could check at the interface level and lessen the burden on validation within the application. The instrumentation within the solution is important. The ease of implementation is very important. Our partner development team had little trouble dealing with these diverse systems, with JSON on the one hand and SOAP on the other. The product’s ability to seamlessly translate protocols is great. The API-led connectivity is great. The reason that we took on the product was that we wanted to learn about it. We wanted to figure out how to use it. A big payoff for this will be in EHR integrations. These systems are all alike, yet they are all different. They all use EPIC, and each installation is a little bit different. It’s a challenge when we go to different hospitals. MuleSoft has made a name for itself in using the integrations.

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution is very scalable with solid performance and the capability of extending it using any custom Java in case you don't have anything out of the box. MDP is strong. It is good compared to other products regarding its capabilities in managing or orchestrating the issue load."
"The community manager is the standout feature of the Mule Anypoint Platform, as it provides a platform to showcase your API to external parties. It is exceptionally user-friendly and enables external parties to easily utilize and consume the APIs."
"The platform's cloud integration capabilities are good."
"The ability to define multi-tiered APIs and reuse them is a fantastic platform feature."
"The solution's deployment and proxy processes are very good."
"The initial setup is quite easy because the solution has a good interface through which the configuration, mapping, and so on can be done."
"Mule Anypoint Platform's valuable features are its flexibility in terms of deployment and its SaaS capabilities."
"Whenever we need some support in our local language, we get it easily. They also have an office in Germany and if a person is unable to contact them by phone, they can go to the office in person."
"The most valuable aspect of the solution is the ease of access to the data in those databases."
"The most valuable part of SAS/ACCESS is what it is made for: connecting to remote systems that are not part of your physical SAS environment."
"The most valuable feature is you have native access to the external databases."

Cons

"The solution's licensing model is expensive and could be improved."
"The runtime management and connectors could use some work and are vulnerable to breakage after upgrades."
"In order to set up a storefront, we currently rely on a third-party solution. It would greatly enhance our operations if this feature was integrated into their existing solution."
"Mule should have better B2B integration."
"Adding connectors for new upcoming applications would add extra value to this product."
"Mule Anypoint Platform should improve its pricing. In my experience, a customer using the sandbox version couldn't upgrade to the final version because it exceeded their budget. Another area for improvement is the login mechanism. We need to integrate with third-party products for strong authentication, but it would be better if MuleSoft had its own robust login mechanism."
"Mule Anypoint Platform is complex for beginners. Users without programming skills will find it complex. It should also improve its pricing."
"The product does not provide a priority level for the message."
"I can't really recall any missing feature or general improvement that is needed. We don't really add too many new kinds of databases and therefore our needs are already met."
"The pricing model needs to be reconsidered and adjusted."
"The solution can provide access to the newer databases that come out sooner."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Making changes in Anypoint MQ is expensive."
"Mule is not the cheapest integration platform out there, but it deserves the price we are paying."
"The solution's pricing, as per the old approach, is expensive."
"The product is still very expensive."
"The solution has a high price."
"I can't give you a straightforward answer because sometimes it depends on the usage. If you're going to have fewer than 5 million messages, it is free of cost. If you're going to have more than 5 million messages, they're going to charge $100 per month"
"MuleSoft Anypoint Platform really needs to work on its pricing model because it's very complicated."
"Mule Anypoint Platform is an expensive solution."
"The pricing model is complex and is based on modular packages as well as the size of the applicable environment."
