Used for notifying, queuing servers, and queuing messages
We use Amazon SQS for notifying, queuing servers, queuing messages, and notifying the people for alerting systems. We have been using Amazon SQS in one of the projects for queuing messages. For alerting, we have production support where SQS is mostly used I have been using Amazon SQS for four to…

Can seamlessly translate protocols and produce fairly quick results
Using the solution was great. It was part of the project that we didn't worry that much about. What I also liked about it was that even though I'm not that technical, I could go in and look at thoughts and events and confirm that the information we were looking for was making it across. I could check at the interface level and lessen the burden on validation within the application. The instrumentation within the solution is important. The ease of implementation is very important. Our partner development team had little trouble dealing with these diverse systems, with JSON on the one hand and SOAP on the other. The product’s ability to seamlessly translate protocols is great. The API-led connectivity is great. The reason that we took on the product was that we wanted to learn about it. We wanted to figure out how to use it. A big payoff for this will be in EHR integrations. These systems are all alike, yet they are all different. They all use EPIC, and each installation is a little bit different. It’s a challenge when we go to different hospitals. MuleSoft has made a name for itself in using the integrations.

Cons

"I cannot send a message to multiple people simultaneously. It can only be sent to one recipient."
"Be cautious around pay-as-you-use licensing as costs can become expensive."
"The current visibility timeout of five minutes is okay. However, I'd like to explore the possibility of extending it for specific use cases."
"Sending or receiving messages takes some time, and it could be quicker."
"Amazon SQS is costly. I think there could be improvements in how it facilitates comparisons between different AWS products. A calculator would be helpful. The calculator for Kafka is based on factors like throughput or storage used in the last month. In contrast, the calculator for Amazon SQS is based on the number of transactions processed. These different approaches make it challenging to compare them directly. I suggest AWS provide a straightforward calculator where I can input one aspect, and it calculates costs for multiple solutions."
"There could be improvements in the UI for security and scalability."
"It would be beneficial to have the ability to peek at messages currently in Amazon SQS without needing to monitor incoming messages."
"Sometimes, we have to switch to another component similar to SQS because the patching tool for SQS is relatively slow for us."
"This becomes an expensive solution over time."
"It's extremely expensive to change things in Anypoint MQ. There's also this issue of slow output of messages, and that needs to be improved."
"The solution's pricing model is very strange, and it will be really expensive if you use APIs a lot."
"The high price of the product is an area of concern where improvements are required."
"The runtime management and connectors could use some work and are vulnerable to breakage after upgrades."
"The cost of the product is an area of concern where improvements are required, especially when compared to other tools, like Dell Boomi or Oracle."
"Lacks intelligent management data and intelligent mappings."
"The inclusion of GenAI in the tool can be good since it is an area that is currently unavailable in the solution."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Compared to the other options and based on what I have heard, Amazon SQS is relatively more expensive, but it is not insanely expensive."
"Amazon SQS is quite expensive and is at the highest price point compared to other solutions."
"It's quite expensive."
"Amazon SQS is more affordable compared to other solutions."
"Amazon SQS is moderately priced."
"I rate the tool's pricing a nine out of ten."
"The pricing of Amazon SQS is reasonable. The first million requests are free every month, and after, it's cost 40 cents for every million requests. There are not any additional fees."
"The pricing model is pay-as-you-use. It depends on your usage and configuration."
"Regarding pricing, I believe there could be room for improvement to align with user expectations."
