Powerful queue system facilitates seamless asynchronous operations
A feature I would like to see in Amazon SQS is the ability to view the content of messages without removing them from the queue. Enhanced filtering on the messages would be beneficial, as currently one has to pull all messages out, filter the right one by code, and then re-insert the remaining messages. This solution is not effective with the FIFO queue.

Robust, reliable, and stable, ensuring high availability for critical integrations
I would rate the scalability an eight out of ten; it is a highly scalable solution. We have around 200 end users using this solution in our company. We use it to its maximum capacity. However, it's not for P1 applications, but definitely for severity two cases (P2 level). It integrates critical applications, but it's not a platform that, if it stops, the entire system would come down. So, it's more like a severity two level. However, it has the potential to eventually become a P1 platform. Not exactly P1 applications, but a P1 platform. Because now we are still in the transition to migrate everything, all the integrations to Mule Anypoint Platform. But once it's done, then this platform becomes critical. Because even now, we have point-to-point connections.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I think the tool is very reliable."
"We used SQS for the Kapolei system to ensure that certain tasks were executed precisely once. The first-in, first-out (FIFO) capability was a great feature for us. Additionally, its redundancy out of the box meant we didn't have to worry about missing messages. It provided peace of mind and automatically instilled trust, relieving us of any concerns."
"All Amazon Web Services resources are easy to configure."
"The most valuable feature of Amazon SQS is its scalability."
"The libraries that connect and manage the queues are rich in features."
"The dead-letter queue is very helpful in maintaining the messages that come into the queue."
"The most valuable features of the solution are AWS Lambda services, ECS, and QuickSight reports, which are beneficial for data analysis."
"It's very quick and easy to build or set up Amazon SQS."
"Mule Anypoint Platform's valuable features are its flexibility in terms of deployment and its SaaS capabilities."
"Overall, it is a pretty good product. It is also very scalable."
"Good interface, simple to use and stable."
"This is the easiest and best tool available."
"The solution is scalable, and its performance is quite good."
"The tool is very capable and offers a high performance. The tool supports batch processing and ETL processing."
"Customers can make use of Runtime Fabric, an RTF environment."
"We use simple queues and exchanges to route messages to multiple queues. The publish/subscribe model is also helpful."

Cons

"As a company that uses IBM solutions, it's difficult to compare Amazon SQS to other solutions. We have been using IBM solutions for a long time and they are very mature in integration and queuing. In my role as an integration manager, I can say that Amazon SQS is designed primarily for use within the Amazon ecosystem and does not have the same level of functionality as IBM MQ or other similar products. It has limited connectivity options and does not easily integrate with legacy systems."
"It would be easier to have a dashboard that allows us to see everything and manage everything since we have so many queues."
"It would be beneficial to have the ability to peek at messages currently in Amazon SQS without needing to monitor incoming messages."
"I cannot send a message to multiple people simultaneously. It can only be sent to one recipient."
"Support could be improved."
"The tool needs improvement in user-friendliness and discoverability."
"There are some issues with SQS's transaction queue regarding knowing if something has been received."
"The cost became an issue, leading us to consider other solutions."
"Better documentation, in particular with respect to the initial setup, would be helpful."
"The compatibility with vendors can be improved. Microsoft Azure heavily uses single software."
"Lacks intelligent management data and intelligent mappings."
"It doesn't work well when you try using it for the processing layer."
"The solution is very costly. The solution should provide a package with fewer capabilities at a lower price for specific companies that don’t have a big IT budget. Not every customer requires all the capabilities of the software. It will be a good fit in the market, and they will easily sell it more."
"Adding connectors for new upcoming applications would add extra value to this product."
"In order to set up a storefront, we currently rely on a third-party solution. It would greatly enhance our operations if this feature was integrated into their existing solution."
"Anypoint MQ could improve the user interface."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Amazon SQS is quite expensive and is at the highest price point compared to other solutions."
"The pricing model is pay-as-you-use. It depends on your usage and configuration."
"Amazon SQS offers a generous free tier, beyond which it remains very cost-effective. The cost per million messages is less than a dollar, making it an economical choice."
"The pricing of Amazon SQS is reasonable. The first million requests are free every month, and after, it's cost 40 cents for every million requests. There are not any additional fees."
"It's quite expensive."
"SQS's pricing is very good - I would rate it nine out of ten."
"Amazon SQS is moderately priced."
"Amazon SQS is more affordable compared to other solutions."
"Making changes in Anypoint MQ is expensive."
"The product comes complete at one set price including support."
"The pricing of our solution is highly competitive. While it may not be categorized as exceptionally low, it is certainly more affordable compared to IBM."
"Price-wise, it is a good product since it is reasonably priced."
"Mule is not the cheapest integration platform out there, but it deserves the price we are paying."
"Mule Anypoint Platform is affordable."
"The solution is the priciest in the market which is an issue for some clients."
"The product's price seems to be competent in comparison to other products in the market."
