Improved Integration Efficiency and Potential for Further Enhancements in Monitoring and User Experience
The policies in MuleSoft API Manager are significant features. We get the policies by default, with more than 25 out-of-the-box policies. If any additional requirement exists specific to the customer, there is a custom policy framework. We can build the policy according to our requirement, and deploy and enable it at the API Manager level to consume across different business groups, environments, or organizations altogether within the platform. Developing the custom policy is not challenging; you just need to follow the custom policy framework to implement. The custom policy and the different levels of SLAs of the API Manager are notable. Regarding the monitoring side of the API Manager, MuleSoft provides substantial monitoring with logs, offering search capability, raw data accessibility, and different subscriptions. With the top tier, integration with third-party platforms such as ELK or Splunk becomes unnecessary because all search capabilities, dashboards, and functional monitoring can be built within the platform itself. This is excellent from the monitoring perspective, and there have been recent improvements focusing on observability. For DevOps, if you want to make your continuous integration and continuous deployment effective, irrespective of the tool, there are options to integrate. For example, you can use the Maven plugin, platform APIs, or CLI to build your end-to-end DevOps cycle.

Trust and reliability have been established with long-term usage and significant integration benefits
TIBCO Cloud API Management offers API management plus the ability to orchestrate all inbound and outbound API calls. When an API is exposed to the external system, it functions as a single integration. Behind the scenes, you can perform extensive API modeling, aggregation, and downstream systems can have more than one API and give the response back to a single API call. It has many features such as orchestration rule engine, which makes it quite good. TIBCO Cloud API Management has brought numerous benefits for our organization, especially in product maturity and support. Sales and support are strong areas, and I think it is very good. If they do not get the right support, then they should consider other options. The sales and support also provides cost optimization.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution has a feature called Flex, which is a low-latency API layer for passthrough APIs where you want data mapping but with very low latency and high scalability."
"The advice I would give is that this is a platform that's meant for a complete digital transformation of an organization."
"The security features are good, and it's easy to configure the end-to-end integration with existing applications."
"I found the authentication features very valuable, like how the tool provides client IDs and secrets and lets you apply authentication policies. We bought the Titanium package with analytics, which allowed us to do rate limiting and throttling. The API monitoring and alerting were also useful."
"The integration of API management with security features is valuable."
"As a B2B2C company, our goal is to provide a clean interface to our systems, and with Anypoint API Manager we have been able to quickly develop a standard API gateway while reusing most of the components to build a custom API solution for our key client."
"The developer portal is easy to integrate; it is easy to use, easy to integrate, and I like the developer portal."
"In comparison to other competitors, I believe MuleSoft API Manager is definitely the best option on the market, though it is very costly compared to all others, and APG also comes at a high cost."
"Very few outages or SLA issues."
"We previously didn’t offer any API services to customers, so this has provided a new stream of traffic and exposure of our catalogue beyond the normal web store offering."
"It has something called packages. In that way, it's good because we have some pre-built packages. So, if you want to onboard different APIs, we can just add them to the package, and it's there."
"The solution is a good general API manager. They have a few propriety features but are offering items that are standard in the industry as well."
"This has provided a new stream of traffic and exposure of our catalogue beyond the normal web store offering."
"The most valuable aspect of Mashery is its stability."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to have different packages based on the API keys, so the same core system can have different packages based on different environments."
"TIBCO API gateway is one of the best products available around this space."

Cons

"Not many stand-out features."
"I think that they can bring some transparency in reference to the terms of the microservices architecture."
"Mulesoft Anypoint API Manager can improve some of the gateway features. We could use some more customization in creating rules. A lot of the policies are related to the APIs rather than the client. If I want to apply a policy based on a client that is not available."
"We find that the enterprise level is lacking scalability."
"Better documentation to help explain each of the features would be really helpful."
"The solution is missing a monetization module."
"I think that they can bring some transparency in reference to the terms of the microservices architecture."
"When compared to other integration technologies, it is slightly higher."
"The security needs improvement, specifically, propagation of security to an API."
"The pricing could be improved. It's too expensive right now."
"It lacks many features at the API gateway compared to other solutions."
"The way agile life cycle is working needs improvement. I also want to see more support for open API standards. I want to see some improvement on the protocol transformation. That is quite missing now. These are the three main issues."
"Policy management has been a bit of a concern."
"Monetization is not that great in API management. You need customization."
"There are some areas for improvement in TIBCO Cloud API Management, especially regarding network protocols such as SMPP, SMTP, GVI, SVI, and Diameter which could show performance issues in terms of handling and connection management pooling efficiency."
"We observed delays under heavy load conditions, and without proper tuning, changes could take an extended period to filter and become effective."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The product is highly priced compared to other advanced software. It is affordable only for tier-one customers."
"I want MuleSoft Anypoint API Manager to be cheaper because when you scale up, it becomes very costly. Price-wise, I'd give it a seven out of ten."
"It is extremely high, and I would rate it one out of ten."
"If one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the product price as six and a half to seven."
"The price of Mulesoft Anypoint API Manager is very high."
"Pricing can be improved."
"I think that it is pretty expensive."
"The pricing for this solution is cheaper than GCP and Bluemix."
"We have secured terms on which we have been happy to renew for a number of years."
"TIBCO Cloud API Management is not an expensive solution."
"Licensing is quite flexible."
"Its price is pretty reasonable. There are some lightweight API options available in the market, but given the feature set that TIBCO provides, its price is really reasonable."
