A commercial cross-platform GUI and regression testing tool with a useful dashboard
We use Squish to test real time traffic control screens Automated testing has clearly some advantages I like the dashboard. It's virtual, and you can see the customer results. I can do it at night and in the morning. I think it also automatically emails results. The price could be better.  I…

The templates give a pre-build structure
We can use the IDE to develop code. The product gives hints and autocomplete features for code. IntelliSense is very good. It improves the coding experience. The tool has highly detailed debugging features. We can debug our code and easily find the problem using it. We can do TDD using Visual Studio. Visual Studio helps us to create test cases for our functions. We can run the test cases or make them a part of our CI/CD pipeline. Whenever we run CI/CD, the test cases will run. The debugging tool is very good. It is quite advanced. We can track down our issues easily. It gives us a full stack trace.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The initial setup process is straightforward."
"I find it very user-friendly and easy to start working with. The main benefit for me is that it allows testing applications developed in the Qt language. This capability makes Squish a game-changer, as it's the only tool I've found that enables automation for applications written in Qt. I appreciate three main aspects. Firstly, the documentation is excellent. Secondly, I value the way the tool efficiently locates elements during testing. These are the two aspects I particularly like."
"This product can work with QT applications and cross-cut from them on Windows or Mac."
"I like the dashboard. It's virtual, and you can see the customer results. I can do it at night and in the morning. I think it also automatically emails results."
"froglogic Squish is one of the most desired solutions if you are having a Qt as a framework and if you are looking at GUI regression testing. froglogic is a part of Qt as a company."
"The solution is very stable."
"Visual Studio is highly powerful. It's probably the best software development tool on the market."
"Customization is the most powerful feature of this product."
"The solution is very useful for compiling existing projects and developing new projects."
"The ability to quickly make your own components has been valuable."
"The most valuable features of the solution are its ease of use and availability."
"The most valuable feature has been to store all our packages in one place including SSIS packages, SQL tables, TFS and SSR."
"The debugging feature is valuable."

Cons

"ID could be improved with suggestions of names, variables or class."
"There had been a lot of improvements with froglogic Squish already. There were some scenarios in which this particular solution was available in different flavors. They have pulled everything together in one solution. There were some monitoring systems, which were missing out from the solution earlier. They have a centralized dashboard for monitoring the test cases and their execution. It's a full-blown solution, there are not many glitches in terms of something missing out of the package."
"I'm relatively new to Squish, so I'm not familiar with all its pros and cons. Currently, I haven't identified any specific improvements. However, one feature I miss is Git integration within the tool. In my previous experience with Selenium and Python in PyCharm, it was straightforward to create and review changes before pushing them. I haven't found a similar option in Squish, and having an integrated tool for managing conflicts would be beneficial in certain scenarios where collaboration is involved."
"The price could be better."
"The platform could be improved by implementing some basic functionalities that are frequently used, such as login procedures and screen handling when multiple screens are used at the workplace."
"Sometimes Visual Studio is slow. It uses a lot of resources like memory and processing power. You should optimize the performance by only installing what you need on your machine. Don't install unnecessary things that will slow your machine."
"It is not good in terms of performance. When you open Visual Studio, you have to wait for a while to process your code. It uses a lot of resources and has a lot of features. If we could disable some of the features, it would be lighter and faster to use. Nowadays, for some of the projects, we use VS Code for JavaScript or Python. VS Code is very light and easy to use, whereas, in Visual Studio, we have to wait because it takes time to compile or run a project. It has a lot of competitors in terms of performance, such as Intelligent ID. Intelligent ID is very easy to use. It has many features, and it is lighter to use than Visual Studio. In terms of error handling, sometimes, it shows an error before you finish your code, which can be improved. It would be good if it has a version for Linux. I use VS Code on Linux, but I am not sure if Visual Studio has a version for Linux."
"The product must provide more automation."
"The documents on the Microsoft website are not very useful, and they ought to make it easier to find answers."
"The solution’s stability could be improved."
"Over the years, I haven't identified any specific enhancements that I desire; Visual Studio has consistently met my requirements seamlessly and flawlessly."
"The solution should be cheaper."
"The product must provide more integration."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is expensive."
"The platform is highly-priced."
"The price could be better. I believe each developer license costs about 6000 or 7000 Euros per year."
"The tool is affordable."
"It is a price-effective solution"
"We use the solution’s community version, and the solution’s pricing could be cheaper."
"We pay a yearly licensing fee for Visual Studio Test Professional, which is expensive."
"We pay for the solution annually and the price could be reduced."
"I positioned it at a mid-range level. It isn't an inexpensive solution, but considering its capabilities, it represents excellent value for the functionalities it offers."
"Visual Studio Test Professional is not an expensive solution."
"I think that the pricing is quite good."
