Easy to deploy, good price, low overhead, and keeps our Servers and PC's free of virus'
Their management interface is a little buggy as it will hang up and crash from time to time. Although It requires more system resources than the desktop client, adding additional resources' ex. CPU and Memory don't seem to improve it. Its reporting can also be improved as the executive and patching reports are missing the ability to provide what groups of PC's are included in the reports. Also, It's great they patch some third-party software, but it is a limited list expanding this would be a huge improvement. I'm yet to see it properly handle USB Device control.

Great granularity for policies or applications without needing hash values
The solution is cloud based which makes it easy to use for remote devices or work-at-home situations. The solution supports full trust or signature-based approvals. You can get very granular and band out policies or applications without having to do hash values. You can band through the entire environment by execution of the name or desk IDXE. This can be achieved on the policy side because of the signature, IOC, or naming convention itself. This is very effective for pushing more blockage or removing threats across the board. The solution has a very nice API on the back end for remoting into a system and executing scripts or utilizing self automation. This is useful for monitoring several different companies in a workspace or workbook-type format. For example, I report and send out mass emails from a clickable button in an Excel workbook. The APIs all exist for each client. I push out automatic endpoint monitoring and reports every single day at a particular time, with a simple clickable button that serves as a scheduled task for fifty clients.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It has low overhead as far as machine resources are concerned. Everything runs faster with VIPRE installed versus some of the competitors. It has also been pretty easy to use. It just runs and gives us reports. It also sends us alerts when there is something that we need to look at. It does its job, and you just look at the reports. In other ways, you just forget that it is there."
"In general, it was pretty easy to manage."
"It uses machine learning and behavioral analytics for advanced threat detection and response."
"The solution is stable."
"Carbon Black CB Defense has helped improve my organization by allowing us to have better data so that we can do correlation and get visibility into the alerts."
"I like its reporting."
"The solution is extremely scalable."
"The initial setup is pretty straightforward."
"I found the offline scanning to be particularly useful."
"The new feature that we're deploying, the new offering from Carbon Black, is MDR, which stands for manage, detect, and response. It's the most valuable feature because Carbon Black will be continuously checking the logs, and they will be advising us on how to improve some of the policies as well as review the logs. If there are any nefarious agents or things happening on the end points, they will know."

Cons

"We would get a lot of false positives and instead of them fixing the false positive, they would just want us to put in an exception, which I didn't care for."
"Their management interface is a little buggy. It requires a few system resources on the management interface. Its reporting can also be better. Overall, the reports are pretty good. They patch some third-party software, but if they can expand what they do for reporting and patch enterprise software, it would be handy."
"With the on-prem one, the bug has been reported by the community in early January or February, something like that, at the beginning of the year, and it's still not addressed. They have released two versions since then, and yet neither of them addresses this specific issue."
"Right now, Carbon Black CB Defense doesn't support cloud computing and Kubernetes."
"Carbon Black has limited capability to integrate with Rapid7."
"The pricing could be more reasonable."
"The initial setup is complex."
"But here, we hardly can take any kind of a report out of Carbon Black, so I think that should be something that should be more user-friendly."
"Adding an application and a device control feature would be a great help for this solution."
"The feature set for the firewall needs improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I am not really involved in the pricing of this product. But, from my understanding, it is OK for us."
"This is a really expensive product and we pay licensing fees on a yearly basis."
"Overall, it was cost-effective too."
"The solution has almost the same price as other different kinds of infrastructures, but it offers a lot of different features."
