What is our primary use case?

We were sales partners with Illumio, so we didn't implement Illumio on our infrastructure. Rather, we sold Illumio.

What is most valuable?

The dependency map is most valuable aspect.

What needs improvement?

I need some further comparisons to point out the weaknesses. That's why I'm looking for comparisons with other products.

I have not had the chance to experiment deeply with it.

From my experience, they are very responsive.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Illumio was my first micro-segmentation partner.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I am trying to do some technical evaluations between Gandicore and other vendors, yet not any other vendors are being considered.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend Illumio to all sizes of companies. Even though the whole micro-segmentation movement is pretty new in my region, I would rate Illumio about eight out of ten.

An easy to use solution that does basic layer four firewall filtering

The solution is very basic and doesn't do anything other than the orchestration of layer four endpoint firewall rules.

I have been working with the product for three years. 

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have no issues with the tool's stability. 

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I would rate Illumio Zero Trust Segmentation's scalability a seven out of ten. 

How are customer service and support?

I haven't contacted the tool's technical support team. 

How was the initial setup?

I would rate Illumio Zero Trust Segmentation's setup a six out of ten. The tool's deployment took two weeks to complete. We relied on two people to help us with the deployment. 

What other advice do I have?

I would rate the product a six out of ten since it's not an end-to-end solution.

What is our primary use case?

The primary use case is micro-segmentation. It enables network visibility, allowing you to understand how your applications work and the various communication channels they require. Based on this information, you can determine what is allowed and not allowed on your network based on your policy. The use cases also depend on our client’s needs.

What is most valuable?

Visibility is the most valuable feature of the solution. The product provides visibility into how the applications communicate and how the network protocols are being used. We can also block protocols such as RDP, NetBIOS, and ransomware attacks.

What needs improvement?

The product’s agents don't work very well in OT environments. It could include environments with manufacturing sensors or other devices where installing the agent may not be possible. We don't have the same visibility and flexibility that we have on our computer or server.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is good. We are using the SaaS option.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I haven’t faced any scalability issues. We can extend the solution to the cloud.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is easygoing. There are complexities, but the product is very good. Once we get a good baseline and discover things we do not want, we can start blocking and micro-segmenting.

What about the implementation team?

The engineers do the updates. Once the agent is installed, you can auto-update the tool when a new release is available.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

What is our primary use case?

We've had to implement the infrastructure. In fact, we are changing over to FortiGate's VMX security solution.

What is most valuable?

The flexibility of the solution is its most valuable feature.

The ability to operate inside the real technology has been excellent.

The solution's concepts are quite simple.

What needs improvement?

The interaction we've had with the support team hasn't been ideal. Technical support should be improved.

The solution needs to better integrate before we are able to deploy. It would be helpful if we could deploy the solution even if there are difficulties with integrations or other conflicts.

For how long have I used the solution?

We started studying the solution about one and a half years ago.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We're currently tuning the stability right now. It's not ideal.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability of the solution is excellent.

How are customer service and technical support?

We've contacted technical support and are currently working with a professional right now for a couple of days each month. So far, we haven't been too satisfied with the assistance they've provided. I'd rate them as okay. Sometimes we are required to wait for a resolution. It can take a while to get a response. We need a special environment, and it takes them time to help us which can be frustrating.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of the solution was complex, but not on the side of the organization. The rollout of the core was difficult and we had to extract it and pass it to a technical team.

Deployment took over a year. We went through a lot of applications. There were 22,000 for our team.

What about the implementation team?

We had the assistance of a consultant during the initial setup and we were satisfied with their level of service.

What other advice do I have?

We have a full partnership with Illumino.

I was in charge of the program to raise the adoption of the technology within our organization. We're using the latest version of the solution and the private cloud deployment model. The version we are using is either version 18 or 19. We are also using some legacy products as well.

I'd recommend that those considering implementing the solution go ahead and try it out. Just use it and don't be afraid to test it out.

I'd rate the solution eight out of ten. It's a good product with good technical and informational guides. However, the amount of vulnerabilities we've come across is surprising.

No. The product has great future-proof vision. The additional features are being added throughout the period to cater different scenarios.

It's stable. It would utilize native firewall as enforcement point, which avoid the potential issue on agent turn-off.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability of the product is good. It supports super-cluster setup for global cluster even.

How are customer service and technical support?

The Illumio ASP technical support is also good.

Our initial setup was straightforward and the initial deployment completed within a week.

What was our ROI?

In general, security products are defined as insurance or defense wall - relatively passive. Illumio does more than general security product, it provides East-West traffic flow visibility and auditorial log which benefits on daily operation and periodical auditing. The ROI is higher than expected.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The cost is fair and depends on number of workloads. The scale could be from small to large. This is extremely flexible.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate it a ten out of ten.
