Cisco Umbrella Scalability
I'm sure there are bigger customers than us, but we had 9,000 endpoints secured in a month's time without a blip in the system or in performance. For us, it has been impressive.

Cisco Umbrella is very flexible. Before, after, and during the years of the pandemic, my environment went up and down concerning headcount and use cases. Since Cisco Umbrella is pretty flexible, it was able to scale with us.
View full review »Because Umbrella is a cloud-based solution, it doesn't matter if you are putting five users through it or 5,000. All of the heavy work of processing is done on Cisco's cloud platform, and it'll always give you 100% uptime.
View full review »The moment Cisco Umbrella is installed, it scales. It's a matter of deploying policies. You can scale from one to thousands or tens of thousands of clients very quickly.
Cisco Umbrella is scalable for our company. I would rate it nine. We are in the POC stage with twenty users, and once we purchase and deploy it, the number of users may increase.
View full review »It could be improved mainly because the proxy is based on countries, and when you have no point to connect in a country, you can create issues. So, the spread around the world could be better.
We have 80,000 end users, and it's all over the globe.
When we look at the scalability of Umbrella, we can see the great advantage of it being a cloud-based service. Therefore, scalability is not an issue on our side. We can assume that it will always be around and that the performance will always be good.
It is cloud-based. So, scalability should not be an issue.
Any increase in its usage is all relative to the growth of our staff. Currently, we deploy the laptops for people who need to work from home or are traveling between the banks. That's roughly about 20% of our total staff. Some people aren't going to be working from home, and some of their jobs can't be done from home. They have no need for mobile devices. If there is a need to work from home, its usage will increase. It is there if we need it to scale, but at this point, it is not scheduled to change.

While the solution is currently scalable, we recognize the need to continue expanding our connection points and bandwidth in order to accommodate future growth.
Our organization isn't very large, but it's pretty scalable for larger organizations. At the moment, it's not a limiting factor.

We've never had an issue with scale. We've scaled it up to every user that we have in-house. When we deployed the gateways, we deployed two for HA purposes, but from a scale perspective, it's DNS queries. It doesn't take much. Our whole organization is on it.

View full review »Scalability is happening with ease with Cisco Umbrella because you're either deploying another appliance in your branch office or another office, or you're pointing the endpoints to the existing appliances in your head office or any other place, and you're good to go. It's very scalable and easy to use, and you can have a new office ready in a day or less.

We have about 6,000 devices. So, I have no problem with scalability.
It is very scalable. If I had more sites, all I would have to do is deploy more VMs and point traffic that way, which is very nice.
We are using roaming clients. We are also using the DNS appliances that we have deployed. I have over 15,000 users and 10 locations. We have deployed each appliance at every location, and then point traffic to that. There are 20 different servers that we are using for Umbrella.

I haven't had to scale it, but I would assume the scalability would be good.
View full review »It is highly scalable. You don't even have to install it on your computers. You just change your DNS, and it'll start to work internally immediately. I never had any issues with performance or anything like that. I'm sure it would suit larger companies as well, but larger companies would install their own Umbrella service on their own systems and deal with the capacity that way. So, it is very scalable.

View full review »In our customers' environments, in terms of scalability, absolutely, it's a very simple product to deploy. It's cloud-based, so we don't have to worry about deploying resources locally. Networks rely on DNS anyway. The whole Microsoft stack, whether you open a web browser or use Teams, relies on DNS. So, it's the first step in any web transaction.
Scaling it is pretty easy. Every time we need to put it on a machine, it's just part of the deployment process.
There are a lot of features that I haven't used. They've been doing a lot of work on it recently and I was talking to one of our Cisco reps who talked about some things we can do with it that we're not doing yet.
View full review »The scalability is very good and that's another one of the reasons that we chose this product. You can slowly ramp up the policies. You don't have to build it all at once. We started small and have been deploying more and more of the features of the full SIG Essentials package that we have. We can add more users when need be. It scales on a policy and a user and a deployment basis.
We have about 400 end-users and five sites. We use the AnyConnect module on the local workstations.

This solution is quite scalable. It is a cloud-based solution. If your users are spread all over the world they can access Cisco Umbrella using an internet connection and it's quite straightforward. The scalability is quite robust and we can implement it anywhere in the world.
We are using this solution every day. Even if I try to access something now from my corporate laptop, the request will go to Cisco Umbrella, the DNS is configured as Cisco Umbrella.
Currently, we don't plan to increase our usage because we don't have more users at this time. If we scale or we are expanding and we have more offices, in the future we will increase the number of endpoints or number of users.
As we are running our virtual environment in our enterprise, it's not a problem. Normally if you are going to implement VMs, it will be a large scale deployment. If you have more than 2000 or 3000 users and you want a faster response from Cisco Umbrella, you have this VM.
If you have this type of environments, of course, you have a virtual environment, you have any hypervisor like VMware or Hyper-V and you have a big compute, you can manage two VMs from that. It's not an extra cost.
We have four people who have access to Cisco Umbrella. However, it doesn't require much administrative work. It does its job, and only needs a one-time concentration, afterward, all that needs attention is checking to if there are any blocks on anything.
If Cisco Umbrella blocks a user, they will notify the user. The user will get a message that they are locked under this condition and this category. The user will then notify us and complain that they have been blocked. We will check the status on the Cisco Umbrella portal and proceed to whitelist it if, it is a legitimate request.

View full review »Usually, a product is really designed for small, medium, or big companies. I think Umbrella is good to serve any size customer. The range could start from 200 users and then you have an interface that can handle anywhere up to 5,000 to 6,000 users. I think anything is possible with Umbrella as far as scaling usage because of the package and licensing options.
If you want to increase the number of users you just have to inform Cisco to tell them to increase the seat count on Umbrella. We can renew our licenses to be in compliance with the Cisco licensing policy.
Cisco Umbrella is a scalable product.

We have a variety of customers. The number of users on each umbrella varies from one to a few thousand. Most companies may just have a few hundred users. It's basically suitable for companies of all sizes. It scales well, in that sense.
The Cisco Umbrella IT operation resource needs are equal for a large and small company. (no need to hire more engineers or operators)
Overall, the scalability is excellent. It's quite flexible.
Scalability is okay. I think it has that functionality. Depending on the perspective of the environment, you can scale to any capacity you want because this is a cloud solution.

I have scaled it in other companies and it scales very well. It's got a UV, it's got a decent user interface so once you go to Cisco training, they offer it when you buy the product so that if you are a small business looking for something like Umbrella, you can set it and forget it and it works. You can also tie it into your WiFi solution.

Cisco Umbrella is a scalable product. That means, when you have 4,000 users you can take the license for 4,000 users. If they just have 1,500 or 2,000, you can go for that license. Also, on the lower level, if you want 10 licenses, that is also available. That's scalability.

View full review »Right now, we are working as a startup and we have 13 members of the team who are using the Cisco Umbrella. They are using it directly during business hours with configurations and analysis and other maintenance and access. It is the product's job to watch all the traffic routing to data points throughout the nine hours as it is routed to pass through the Cisco Umbrella.
But whenever other users are trying to access the network — even in the non-business hours — if they are using their office laptop, all the traffic will be routed through DNS security. Umbrella is protection for the company devices from websites that may do something like data attacks on remote laptops. It handles all of these requests no matter how many concurrent users we have.
We will be adding DNS to all the endpoints. For this, we will update the Cisco Umbrella DNS software for all our data points to watch all the traffic that is going through the EndPoints. It seems it will be very scalable.

View full review »We only have two clients on this solution. There's no more than that. There may be 200 users in total. One client had 150 users and the other had around 100 users.
The product has three visions, it depends on what license you want, or the requirement, to be more precise. Whether you're from an adaptation center, or enterprise center, or utility center, it has different flavors for different kinds of customers.
