We use Windows 10 for our personal operating system on all of our desktops, laptops, and our tablets.

Easy to setup, but the patch security management updates could be faster
Pros and Cons
- "Windows 10 is stable."
- "The updates take a lot of time to complete, and they could be faster."
What is our primary use case?
What needs improvement?
The main issue is related to the patch security management that is released. The updates take a lot of time to complete, and they could be faster.
For how long have I used the solution?
We have been using Windows 10 for the last three to four years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Windows 10 is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
We have approximately 150 users in our organization.
How are customer service and support?
The technical support is fine. They have the help support and you can Google it to get your support.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We have only used Windows. All versions of Windows have been used such as Windows 95, Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows 7.
How was the initial setup?
The installation is straightforward. It's a guided installation that anyone can do.
We need a team of two or three people to maintain this solution.
What about the implementation team?
We were able to complete the installation ourselves.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The pricing is expensive. When compared with other Operating Systems, such as Linux-based solutions, it's expensive.
When we purchase any computer, we purchase the software, the operating system, and the hardware.
It is bundled, but if you purchase it individually it's expensive.
The price could be improved.
What other advice do I have?
I would recommend this solution to others.
From an operating system perspective, I would rate Windows 10 a seven out of 10.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises

Deputy Manager IT at a tech services company with 501-1,000 employees
Highly stable, good interface, and easy to implement
Pros and Cons
- "It is stable. I have a lot of applications running on it, and all the applications are running fine. I don't have any problems with it."
- "It would be helpful if Windows had its own antivirus to protect the OS. They should provide an antivirus with it."
What is our primary use case?
I am using it as an operating system. My two daughters and I are using Windows 10 on three laptops at home, and it is working very well.
What is most valuable?
It is stable. I have a lot of applications running on it, and all the applications are running fine. I don't have any problems with it.
Its interface is very nice, cool, and easy to use.
What needs improvement?
Its cost is very high and should be reduced.
It would be helpful if Windows had its own antivirus to protect the OS. They should provide an antivirus with it.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Windows 10 for two years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
It is highly stable. It is more stable than Windows 7, and it also has inbuilt security updates. It seems that it has been tested with a lot of end-users. It is working fine, and there are no issues.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It is scalable, but it would require more resources. It requires 8GB RAM to work fine. Initially, my desktop had only 4GB, so there was some slowness, but with 8GB RAM, it is working very well. There are no issues.
How are customer service and technical support?
I hardly needed any support because a lot of resources and groups are available, and we just go through these resources.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I was using Windows 7. Windows 10 is more stable than Windows 7.
I have also used Ubuntu Linux and other free operating systems, but they don't have a good GUI like Windows 10. I am also not able to find a lot of applications that run on them.
How was the initial setup?
It is easy to implement. I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and it took a maximum of 30 minutes.
What about the implementation team?
I installed it myself.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I have taken the full license, but its cost is very high. Its cost should be reduced.
What other advice do I have?
I would definitely recommend this solution. I would rate Windows 10 a 10 out of 10.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Integrates with everything that I am using, gives me everything as a user, and allows me to easily sort apps
Pros and Cons
- "I like the main window pane where you can sort your mostly used and different types of apps, such as OneDrive, Google Chrome, and Access. I can just open up the main window, and those apps are right there at my fingertips. I moved from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and it took me a little while to get used to Windows 10, but once I got used to it, I do like it. It integrates with everything that I am using, and it gives me everything that I need as a user."
- "It takes a lot of hard drive space when you're using it. I also have Windows 10 on my personal computer, and it does take up an awful lot of hard drive space. This is probably something about which nothing can be done, and it is just a pet peeve of mine."
What is our primary use case?
It is on my laptop, and it is given to me as an employee. My Windows did an update last night, so I am sure I have its latest version. I also have it on my personal computer.
What is most valuable?

For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Windows 10 for three years.
How are customer service and technical support?
I have not gone to tech support. I never had a problem.
How was the initial setup?
The setup is easy. There are always patches that go out. I've been selling Office 365 to customers, and there are always patches. That's just the way Microsoft does things, but the one positive thing is that when things are recognized, patches do get done fairly fast, and then they're sent out. In my official case, they're sent out to my IT department. In my personal case, the patches are done automatically.
What other advice do I have?
I would rate Windows 10 an eight out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

- "The apps view that I get on my screen is not much useful for me. If I have to search for anything, I go to the Search bar and type there. They can maybe include integration with some third-party products."
What is our primary use case?
I use Windows 10 for accessing Microsoft Office or a few other things. I am using the latest version.
What is most valuable?
The user interface of Windows 10 is good. It is better than the earlier versions. Its performance is also better than the earlier versions. These are the two good points for me.

How are customer service and technical support?
I never contacted them.
How was the initial setup?
I don't know. I didn't install it myself.

IT Business Relationship Manager at a energy/utilities company with 10,001+ employees
Easy to install with an intuitive interface that works well on tablets
Pros and Cons
- "The solution is easy to install. Even my child could set up the system."
- "It would be great if the solution was more stable. It's a mass-produced product and people around the world use it extensively, which makes it a target for attacks. It needs better security against hackers."
What is most valuable?
We like the solution as it offers basic functionality and you don't need to be an expert to use it.
The solution supports touch screens, which is useful for me, as I utilize touchscreen devices often. It supports tablets, for example, which is great.
It's a massively popular product. About 80% of the operating systems in the world are Microsoft Windows.
The solution is easy to install. Even my child could set up the system.
The interface is intuitive and very self-explanatory. It's easier to use than Mac or Linux.
The product offers very good instructions.
What needs improvement?
It would be great if the solution was more stable. It's a mass-produced product and people around the world use it extensively, which makes it a target for attacks. It needs better security against hackers.
The solution needs to be more resilient against viruses. Apple computers, for example, are great in this sense.
The solution could be more lightweight. The OS should be built lighter. Users shouldn't have to buy the highest-end processor or devices in order to run the OS smoothly. There should be less demand on the hardware.
They could build or create an operating system that's less powerful than now. Currently, every year, we have to buy new devices just to have the best of Microsoft Windows products. If you want to have the best SharePoint, you have to add RAM. You have to have more and more powerful machines, just to have it run properly. It's demanding on the consumer. There are too many upgrades that are necessary and they happen too often.
For how long have I used the solution?
We've been using the solution since its first release. It's been a while now.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The solution in my opinion isn't very stable. It's vulnerable to attacks.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup was very straightforward. We didn't have any trouble at all. I simply asked the customer center to set up my particular version. There are no admin privileges on my work laptop, so I don't have authority to add anything, therefore I needed their assistance.
What other advice do I have?
We're Microsoft customers.
We're always on the latest version of the solution. Part of our security policy requires us to be on the latest update at all times.
We have a patch server that will deploy the latest patches, with updates to the clients, to regular machines.
I'd rate the solution eight out of ten. If it was more stable and offered better data protection, I would rate it higher.

Information Security Consultant at a consultancy with 11-50 employees
Stable and scalable with good security features
Pros and Cons
- "The latest versions of the solution have increased their level of stability. It's quite good now."
- "The solution should offer a bit of an easier integration with authentication methods, like FIDO or FIDO2 authentication with the USB-C. They should try to simplify the process of authenticating the user. Nobody wants to remember thousands of passwords."
What is most valuable?
The solution's most valuable aspect is the vast integration of PowerShell to help automate the community and every system maintenance task.
The solution has implemented security capabilities quite well. There is a new technology that allows you to put your security credentials in the EPM module has been great.
The initial setup is easy.
The latest versions of the solution have increased their level of stability. It's quite good now.
What needs improvement?
The patch deployment in corporate enterprises could be improved in a way to specify when the system will update and to prevent users from interacting with this system during the actual updates. If you have a system running in a production facility, the user is only able to access a dedicated application when you then update the system, the application has to be stopped. When this happens, the system is open for manipulation. Microsoft should invest more in a way to protect users from interacting with this system during the update process.
It's a very edge case. It's really important for us. I know some other production facilities. There are some third party solutions in place which tried to tackle this issue, but it would be better if Microsoft directly addressed it on their own.
The solution should offer a bit of an easier integration with authentication methods, like FIDO or FIDO2 authentication with the USB-C. They should try to simplify the process of authenticating the user. Nobody wants to remember thousands of passwords.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've been using the solution for three years so far.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Windows 10 is really stable now. There aren't bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's very reliable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
In the case of scalability, it would be easy to expand the solution. It is quite straightforward to execute on scalability. A company shouldn't have trouble with it when they need to expand.
Currently, we have about 8,000 users on the solution.
How are customer service and technical support?
I've never personally contacted technical support. We often try to contact more third-party support services. I can't remember any direct contact with support, so I can't speak to the quality of services that they provide.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We have used a lot of Linux's systems, however not for clients. In the past, for end user computing, like running workstations, we already used Windows 10. It was Windows 7 before that.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is a very straightforward process. It's not complex. It's easy to deploy and users are adapting to it quickly. The whole process is very fast.
What other advice do I have?
We're just a customer. We don't have a business relationship with Microsoft.
The Microsoft ecosystem works really well when I have an active directory and am using Microsoft Outlook, Exchange, etc. They interact really well together.
In regards to the solution being cost-effective, I would say the latest technologies from Microsoft have an administrative system that is much easier than running IBM. It's now so well interconnected that if you're trying to migrate to the cloud it's easy.
Microsoft really tries to fill all of a company's technical needs, which works really well.
I would rate the solution a solid nine out of ten.
It's really great. Microsoft has done a lot to improve their offerings over the last few years. You can still improve every product somehow. They could always add more features and continuously refine the product. However, at this point, it's working really well for us.

I rate the product’s stability a seven out of ten.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I rate the product’s scalability a seven out of ten. The scalability could be improved.

Good enough, but update stability needs improvement
Pros and Cons
- "The most valuable feature is that it's a good enough operating system for anyone who isn't technically proficient."
- "This solution is good enough, but Windows is always playing catch-up when it comes to development. An improvement I would like to see is in Windows updates. They don't seem to test the updates."
What is our primary use case?
My primary use case of Windows 10 is for personal use. I don't run anything business-related on Windows. I use it from time-to-time and it's deployed on-premises. I use it a couple of times a year, whenever I occasionally need to do small tasks, like copy files that only Windows has access to.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable feature is that it's a good enough operating system for anyone who isn't technically proficient.
What needs improvement?
This solution is good enough, but Windows is always playing catch-up when it comes to development. For instance, Docker containers is technology that was introduced with Linux and they just decided that it was usable. The primary reason why I rarely use Windows is that it's not interesting from a development perspective.
An improvement I would like to see is in Windows updates. They don't seem to test the updates. My wife uses Windows as well and after the update, her computer was no longer usable. It was what we call the "blue screen of death." It had to be erased and started up from scratch, which was a nightmare. It seems that they aren't testing their updates anymore, they're just pushing them, and they're not propagating the updates to everybody. They're propagating to a specific, small portion of people. Only after do they check if everything is okay. If there's no bad feedback, then they increase the scope, release the updates to the wider public, and so on. Windows is a paid operating system, so this is not normal and not okay. I would expect this from open source technologies, but even these are better. We are using the open source version of Ubuntu, which is free, and it's still way better than the updates for Microsoft operating systems. I have only worked with the desktop version of Windows 10, so I don't know how things work for the server operating systems, but at least for the common user of Windows 10, it's a nightmare.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Windows 10 for a few years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
This solution is stable, but updates affect this too. The operating system is stable until an update causes everything to crash. This happens more often that not, I would say. My wife has had two issues with this. On two separate occasions, her computer has crashed just because of the updates. Every time her computer restarts because of an update that needs to be installed, she is afraid that her computer will stop working.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I'm not sure because I am the only one who uses Windows, and even then it's on very rare occasions.
How are customer service and support?
I have never dealt with Microsoft technical support.
How was the initial setup?
I haven't installed Windows myself. My wife says that Windows was already installed and licensed along with the machine that she purchased.
What about the implementation team?
I implemented through a vendor team. Windows 10 came with the laptop my wife purchased.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Our Windows 10 license was purchased with a laptop.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
I also use the open source version of Ubuntu Linux, which is free and still runs better than Windows 10. If you are technically proficient, I recommend going with Ubuntu Linux. If not, go with Windows.
For cloud-based software, I use G Suite Enterprise. I use this software to communicate with customers who need to record videos and other things like that, and I prefer it over Zoom.
What other advice do I have?
I would rate Windows 10 a five out of ten, primarily because the updates for the desktop version are a nightmare and need improvement. I recommend Windows to anybody who isn't technically proficient. Otherwise, go with Ubuntu Linux.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
