BambooHR's reporting tools were not the best I've used, but they're good. There are some limitations in terms of customized reports, as opposed to ADP, for example. The only thing that could have been added is better integration with local payroll systems or a local Canadian payroll module. It just didn't have that functionality.

The assessments must be improved. We cannot add more questions to the assessments if we want to. When I asked the HR team to do it, they said they spoke with BambooHR, and it is not possible to configure it. The assessment must be configurable. We should be able to add or remove questions for the employees or the peer reviews. The HR team also complains about the recruitment feature. We used to use the recruitment features, but we abandoned them because it was very limited.
There are some issues with the job tab under my info where you add the salary. So, if you add the monthly salary, for example, because this is what we're using. It's a custom in our country to refer to it as the monthly amount and not the annual amount, but sometimes I need it. If they had this calculated automatically, it would help a lot. If you entered the annual amount, you would have to calculate it yourself and then insert the annual amount. However, if I insert the monthly amount, it would be helpful if the system would give me the annual amount automatically. Also, the solution should be made globally available.

I would like to be able to export some documents into PDFs a little easier. Right now, only HR can update the training record and as you scale your company, managing the system can be manual and time consuming.

The performance could be improved. When you save some documents, it takes longer to store them in BambooHR's systems than it used to. Something needs to be upgraded or fixed in the code. Alow, we provide services to other companies, so Bamboo isn't able to help us in many areas because of the way we work. I would like the ability to use the performance appraisal for Bamboo no matter how many Bamboos I have. Furthermore, it should be easier to transfer an employee from one company to another. They have a feature now, but it's not helpful. We get a lot of errors when we move it from one Bamboo to the other. I can download the information from company A and transfer it to company B, but I need to make three different downloads and upload them to the system. Sometimes, it doesn't work properly, and some information is missing. The information goes to different areas based on tags. It's much easier if you have a linked connection where you can take the same information and move it to the same place. All the Bamboos for the companies I use have the same formatting.

Something that was difficult when we started using Bamboo, was the ability to import data in an Excel format. For example, we had one Excel sheet with half the information including first name, surname etc. We wanted to import all of the information into one database and this was impossible. We had to import it manually. If you are dealing with two or more businesses under one company name, it is not possible to transfer employees between companies if they have a separate bamboo set up. In a future release, I would like to have an interface that can integrate with different software. This would save time when importing data to complete payroll.

BambooHR could be improved by managing leave in a way that transfers remaining days at the end of the annual year to the following year. Leave days at the end of a year are currently calculated manually by our HR team which is time consuming.
In the BambooHR performance management annual evaluations we have some limits to the questions. We can only add four extra questions, and they already have three basic questions, this is not easy for us. We would like to have more flexibility with the questions. In a future release, the time tracking for the employees could improve. In order to set the time tracking, we need to add the compensation and all the personal information of the employees. If we could use the time tracking without the compensation, that would be great.
It would be good to include more options for approvals and workflows. They are deliberately not the most sophisticated version of anything that they do, but it is like 80/20. They hit the vast majority of all the needs, but I have started to run up against the limits of their functionality. It has forced me to start paying attention to the marketplace or sending feedback to BambooHR. Clients are still happy though. Timesheets is a new area in which they're slowly expanding. It is currently very limited, but it meets the needs of standard nine-to-five salary employees who just want to be able to key in their time, have it approved, and then pushed off to payroll. It does not have any of the bells and whistles that an hourly employee or hourly worker might need. That is one area that is currently limited, but they have integrations with some of the best companies that do that.
