We are an Engineer to Order company and are currently evaluating several PDM solutions for our CAD programs (i.e. MCAD & ECAD). For the past decade we have been using a managed library for these files, however this has become cumbersome, and is unsustainable. The following are some of the criteria we are reviewing.
1. Change Control Workflows (Can be modified by system admin)
2. Accessible API for various customization activities
3. User friendly GUI
4. Design work can be completed in PDM interface or CAD interface (i.e. creating new/revised files)
5. Seamless integration with CAD software
6. Provides link to ERP
7. Excellent training & support record from vendor/supplier
8. Sustainable pricing model
Would like to hear feedback from others who have walked down this path.
