I use the solution in my company to broadcast WiFi across various departments.
The most valuable features of the solution stem from the way the solution gets connected with Fortinet FortiGate. You can easily manage Fortinet FortiAP on Fortinet FortiGate. You can check who all are logged in, and mark their MAC addresses, and look at the website they visit. You can also upgrade the firmware, especially if you have good, suitable, or new firmware.
The product fails to offer default access points to deal with the areas revolving around configurations. From an improvement perspective during the deployment phase, direct access points that can be connected to the web browser to take care of the configuration part instead of relying on FortiGate or FortiManager should be available. I would like the product to add default access points to help with first-time installation processes and even continuous configurations. During some issues, you can log in to the web page with the help of the default access point and sort out the problems without having the need to go to FortiGate or FortiManager.
I have been using Fortinet FortiAP for two to three years. My company is a customer of Fortinet.
The product is not really stable since most of my company's clients complain that the access points get disconnected after two years of use. If you want to connect the disconnected access points back into your environment, you have to restart it since it keeps turning on and off.
My company handles around six clients who use the solution.
I have contacted the solution's technical support. I rate the technical support an eight out of ten.
The product's initial setup phase was easy, especially with FortiGate or your FortiManager in place.
The solution is deployed on an on-premises model.
The devices under Fortinet are not expensive. The solution's licensing part is expensive.
My company chose Fortinet FortiAP since we have many departments where we don't want to use multiple ports and cables. In my company, we felt that access points could help facilitate or broadcast the internet connection across the organization. My company preferred to use Fortinet FortiAP for some of our clients with large offices since they require something that allows you to easily close machines and start by simply having to choose the login options in the access points.
It won't be easy to connect to the internet or WiFi if you have many users or staff members in your organization. If you have Fortinet FortiAP in place, you need not keep plugging the cable in and out of your organization to get connected to the internet. The product works well in huge environments requiring a tool with the ability to penetrate deeply.
It is pretty easy to learn about the product. It doesn't take much time to learn about the product.
The real-time spectrum analysis of the tool has improved wireless network operations, especially if you have an SSID. With SSID in place, the access points get connected no matter how far departments are from each other within the organization.
The product provides you with the details of the people who are logged in and also gives you the MAC addresses of those devices, after which you can easily trace where such devices are connected in case any issue arises. It also provides you with details on how the devices are being utilized by users. The product also offers ease in troubleshooting procedures.
I rate the overall tool a nine out of ten.
