Symantec Endpoint Security Complete Reviews

It's the network side of things. They have the Fortinet SASE network protection, which is ideal for us because most of our workforce is on the road and out of the offices, so we want the network protection to be on the endpoint side.

Fortinet Endpoint Protection provides more features compared to other solutions.

Based on experience with Symantec Endpoint Security Complete, it would rate as a seven.

We get the network SASE solution completely within the same price category.

It had its problems. They were rebuilding it while having the old functionality and new functionality layered on top of each other. They were migrating the functionalities to the new solution, which caused significant problems. The mobile device management was not unified with the other endpoint management, creating structural issues.

We are still in the process of buying it, so we haven't implemented it yet.

I recall some challenges with the stability of the agents and the Mac OS agents. Mac OS upgrades would break them before new versions were available.

I have worked with Symantec Endpoint Security Complete, Trend Micro, McAfee, and Microsoft Defender.

I changed jobs last year. At my previous position, we had Trend Micro, which is a powerful platform but not suited to our organization since we don't have a security partner or internal resources to manage it. That's why we are proceeding with a partner to replace the system.

We are going with Fortinet.

I have worked with this solution.

From a security perspective, my understanding is that it remains in the top five solutions when considering malware detection rates. It is a high-end security solution from that perspective.

I haven't been hands-on with it yet. I have only seen the marketing material, and we will be proceeding to a limited pilot in the coming months.

This review rates the solution as a 7 out of 10.

The solution is mainly used as an antivirus, which includes a firewall. It can be used for file blocking, Infania, and malicious attacks. If I am browsing some malicious sites, it can log those activities. Basically, it is for preventing attacks.

Security Complete comes with antivirus plus EDR, which is a convergence of antivirus and EDR. I have both the antivirus and EDR features constantly, allowing my team's customers to conduct detailed analyses of where attacks have occurred or if any malicious files are present, which devices or files have been targeted. It provides a greater level of view, making it easy for my team to mitigate those particular attacks.

They could improve the user interface. Currently, everything is pretty good, however, when it comes to the Maniac and Protection, there could be enhancements.

I have used the solution for around seven to eight years.

It is a very reliable product.

I was part of the tech team for Broadcom. Just two or three months ago, we lost the contract. I don't know the current situation with Broadcom, however, it was good when I was involved.

We did not switch to Kato Networks; it was already part of our organization. We finished our agreement with Broadcom.

Deploying the main server takes just one day or a couple of hours. It is a simple solution with one person involved.

The solution is a pretty expensive product. While it provides good service, considering the price, it is hard to tell about the benefits.

Overall, I would give the solution an eight out of ten. It's not for everyone since Symantec Endpoint Security Complete is a cloud-based solution. If Broadcom has a data center in India, only then could a government customer buy it. I would rate the solution eight out of ten.

Common use cases involve streamlined operations with a focus on efficient management, operational processes, and minimal administrative overhead. The emphasis is on operational fluidity, policy adherence, and simplified administration within the current operational framework.

One of the most valuable features includes elements such as host libraries. Additionally, features like application and device controls are pivotal in Symantec's offering, allowing the implementation of location governance policies. This enables the creation of intricate networks with the capability to establish complex configurations.

There is room for improvement, particularly in the realm of behavior detection. Enhancements in malware analysis and behavior detection would be beneficial. Introducing new features could potentially enhance the utility of their EDR capabilities.

I have been working with it for two and a half years.

In larger instances, stability is generally not an issue; however, there are cases where App Operation is not present. I would rate it eight out of ten.

Scalability is not a concern for on-premises infrastructure; I don't perceive limitations regarding data size or related factors. The user base exceeds twenty thousand, with servers operating continuously around the clock. Server operations are constant and cannot be interrupted. On the other hand, for client systems, activity occurs during login and logout periods. I would rate it eight out of ten.

The technical support team has been highly efficient. Whenever we reach out by phone or raise a ticket, they provide immediate and effective support. I would rate the support team at a nine out of ten.

While it is generally straightforward, there are complexities in aspects such as policies and architecture. It's good, and although it follows a traditional approach, there is potential for improvement. I would rate it eight out of ten.

Maintenance involves multiple divisions, each comprising various business units. Within these units, MIS personnel handle limited administrator activities. As part of the backend teams, we consist of ten to twelve individuals. Specific individuals are tasked with the responsibility of managing the Symantec-related work.

It's cost-effective and well-suited for smaller to midrange companies.

The system is user-friendly for administrators, making it easy to implement policies and manage various aspects. Overall, I would rate it eight out of ten.

I'm a vendor management, like, purchasing the license from the Symantec site and deploying the Symantec product to the vendor site, based on the customer requirement.

We use Symantec Endpoint to protect the systems against malware and to reduce the transfer of sensitive information via USB blocking.

The in-application policies and USB blocking are important. Second, the easier customization that comes with new features is also important. Those are the two main important features of Symantec.

In reference to zero-day attacks, we immediately get signatures from the Symantec site. That is good.

There are some limitations from the cloud security point of view. Symantec is not a cloud-based security, which means if any endpoints move to different locations, they cannot connect directly. It has to reconnect via VPN through the organization. So remote client control, I don't think Broadcom has developed that as of now, compared to Trend Micro.

We have been using Symantec for four years. 

Now, I think, formally, the name has been changed. It's moved to Broadcom. So as we are using it, it's a good product.

It is a stable product. 

It is easy to scale. I work with enterprise-level clients. 

I would rate the scalability an eight out of ten. 

From a support point of view, sometimes there will be delays, and sometimes it is fast. So, it depends upon the resource availability on the Broadcom site.  

Overall, it is very good support.

I used Trend Micro, Symantec, and Forcepoint.

For cons, it's just that Symantec is not cloud-based. Sometimes, the client will disconnect, or some clients will be corrupted. 

For Trend Micro, it is completely cloud-based, and agents can be updated in any infrastructure. But if any challenges are faced, like software corruption, then it is very difficult to upgrade or remove the software or client. That is the main challenge.

It is very easy to deploy. For the clients, the deployment takes less than five minutes. For the server infrastructure, it will take almost two to three days.

As per my technical experience, it is easy to install in an infrastructure or on an endpoint. But Symantec has limitations with operating systems. They provide support for Windows and Mac, but other operating systems are now coming into the environment, like BYOD devices, Java operating systems, and Kubernetes. We are not able to deploy Symantec agents on those operating systems.

One person is enough for the deployment and maintenance. 

Overall, I would rate the solution an eight out of ten.

• Second, Symantec needs to improve regarding remote access. 
• Third, I observed that most of the time Symantec is not updating the client system because the data files and the update file are too big. It can be reduced, and clients can get faster updates.  

From my point of view, Symantec is a good product.

We use the solution for our laptops' security. The solution provides virus protection and quarantines anything that was downloaded and can potentially harm the environment.

The solution's live updates are good. The tool scans for threats and keeps your service protected by continuously updating itself. The solution prevents any damage from viruses and provides risk mitigation for virus threats.

The solution takes a lot of time to run a full scan. The solution should include automatic updates. Users should be mindful of some performance degradation on their laptops because the solution keeps scanning for threats.

Symantec Endpoint Security Complete is a stable solution.

I rate the solution a nine out of ten for stability.

More than 800 users extensively use Symantec Endpoint Security Complete in our organization.

The tool is a security solution. 

Significantly minimize the routine maintenance call from end user side because of the update and central monitoring feature have. 

The tool's performance is good. It provides efficient updates quickly, even before threats are encountered in our environment. We've been using this solution for the last fifteen years and have found it very good. It helps to prevent ransomware attacks. We are already using its antivirus and firewall solutions. It has asset management and XDR features. 

Instead of the updates, the tool needs to come up with a concept similar to zero trust.

Symantec Endpoint Security Complete is very stable, and I rate it a ten out of ten.

Symantec Endpoint Security Full/Complete license is not expensive and advise using the full feature. 

I rate the overall solution a ten out of ten. This is a top security solution, so highly recommend it. It is one of the most stable and scalable tools. Anyone can use it without any issues.

I use Symantec Endpoint Security Complete to prevent zero-day attacks by analyzing file system behavior and employing real-time sandboxing. It protects against attacks not based on signatures.

The most valuable features of Symantec Endpoint Security Complete for me are sandboxing and its threat-hunting capabilities. It helps detect and respond to attacks quickly, focusing on prevention, detection, and response.

Symantec Endpoint Security Complete could improve by integrating more easily with other Symantec security products.

In the future, I would like Symantec Endpoint Security Complete to include features for simulating attacks and facilitating collaboration between red, blue, and purple teams for enhanced attack simulation and prevention.

I would rate the stability of the solution as an eight out of ten. We haven't had any issues so far.

I would rate the scalability of Symantec Endpoint Security Complete as a nine out of ten. We can easily upgrade the solution with new numbers of agents as we add new customers and equipment. There are no performance limitations, especially since it's cloud-based. We currently monitor around three thousand users without any issues.

I would rate the technical support as a seven out of ten. It could be a bit quicker.

Deployment took less than a week. For deployment, we purchase a subscription license, activate it, install agents, configure the management server, and monitor actions. We manage everything with minimal assistance from Symantec's pre-sales team. Deployment requires two people from our teams, but maintenance only needs one person.

We have seen a return on investment from Symantec Endpoint Security Complete. It has prevented numerous attacks for our customers, boosting their confidence in our services and leading to additional business. I would rate the return on investment as an eight out of ten.

I would rate Symantec as a five out of ten in terms of costliness. Our licensing costs for Symantec Endpoint Security Complete are yearly, and we pay around $35 per unit. The price is fixed, with additional costs for monitoring and managing the solution, not for software or hardware.

Symantec Endpoint Security Complete helps me prevent data breaches and boosts my productivity by providing proactive threat protection and aiding in incident diagnosis.

Symantec Endpoint Security Complete effectively manages endpoint security across multiple devices through an easy-to-use interface. It allows for centralized management of endpoints, applying policies to groups of machines, and generating customized reports effortlessly.

The most effective feature for threat detection in Symantec Endpoint Security Complete, in my experience, is behavior-based prevention. It analyzes behavior to proactively prevent attacks.

The integrated firewall feature in Symantec Endpoint Security Complete has enhanced my overall security posture by providing more than just firewall protection. It secures endpoints and complements perimeter security offered by traditional firewalls.

I find the user interface of Symantec Endpoint Security Complete easy to use. It is a single web-based interface where I can manage multiple agents, devices, and customers effortlessly.

Symantec Endpoint Security Complete has minimal impact on system resources during full scans. The resource usage is low, resulting in no noticeable impact on system performance.

My advice for implementing Symantec Endpoint Security Complete is to involve professionals who can manage it effectively. It is a robust solution that requires expertise for proper utilization. Without proper monitoring and management, it may not deliver its full potential.

Overall, I would rate Symantec Endpoint Security Complete as an eight out of ten.

It is a bundle of products, including Endpoint, EDR, and Messaging Gateway. It’s a complete product. It is an enterprise product. We provide features like Messaging Gateway to secure our clients’ messages.

The emails sent are received in an encrypted form. It protects emails and messages shared between users.

The product’s scalability must be improved.

I have been using the solution for a year.

I rate the tool’s stability an eight out of ten.

I rate the tool’s scalability a two out of ten. Five to six medium and enterprise-level customers are using the product. We have around 1,000 users.

The technical support is good.

The initial setup is straightforward. I rate the ease of setup an eight or nine out of ten. The deployment takes 10 to 15 days.

The customers share their requirements, and we install the product for them. After agent installation, we create and apply policies for them.

We would provide demos for people and tell them about the features. It saves the endpoints and encrypts emails and messages. Overall, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.

I use the solution for endpoint protection. 

The solution's most important feature is its reliability. It is not heavy on the workstation. 

Symantec Endpoint Security Complete does not cover everything on the cloud. It does not cover the workstation emails. There are risks associated with it. 

I have been using the solution for more than five years. 

Symantec Endpoint Security Complete is stable and I have not encountered any issues with it. It is one of the reasons why I have been using it for these many years. 

The solution is scalable, but there have been support issues with license renewal. It was not easy.  

I have yet to ask for technical support. I have approached support only for license renewal. 

I have used McAfee before Symantec Endpoint Security Complete. I use Check Point and Fortinet along with it. 

License renewal is not a straightforward process. I have a three-year subscription. It takes a long time to renew the license after three years. It is not proactive on that. 

The solution is expensive for the coverage that it does. I have to include other products to complement the protection that Symantec Endpoint Security Complete does not cover. We have to pay 18 euros. There are no additional support or maintenance costs. 

I rate the product a seven out of ten. 

It is for protecting endpoints from cyber attacks, intrusions, and malware. We activated the Adaptive Protection for more sophisticated attacks, to prevent Living Off the Land Binaries from executing. Those are our main uses of the product.

When we prevent attacks, what is very important is that we don't have downtime in processes and we don't lose data. With this solution, we haven't had any attacks. Of course, we have a firewall, but Symantec is very good.

Symantec Endpoint Security Complete has helped us view activity that was not previously visible to us. Now, every malicious activity is blocked and monitored. We can view everything.

We can integrate it with our SIEM and correlate logs from all security devices in the SIEM. That way, we can monitor attacks and efficiently manage activity within the SIEM.

It also automatically increases our protection and detection coverage without heavy configuration changes. We can choose the default configuration and tune it a little bit and it is effective.

The feature I like the most is Adaptive Protection. It is a very good feature and it helps a lot. It enables enhanced security capabilities for our organization's clients and helps prevent attacks. And it does not negatively affect users' activities because we can adapt it and allow binaries that are executed regularly while forbidding those that are not executed within the company.

In case of a ransomware attack, it can prevent the binaries from executing and that helps us prevent such attacks. We simply forbid the execution of binaries that are not used within our organization. In case of an attack, the hacker cannot execute those binaries. It's forbidden and monitored and that's useful. It is important for preventing sophisticated attacks.

Also, the agent is more complete when it comes to defense and the IPS features work very well, inhibiting many attacks. And the antivirus, the new agent, has many functionalities, so the Adaptive Protection inhibits attacks when a hacker tries to execute lateral movements or to execute something on the endpoint. It's forbidden and we can isolate those on that endpoint.

The Threat Defense for Active Directory feature has a problem in that it is not possible to deploy it within a hybrid management architecture. We tried to deploy it within our hybrid management, where the clients are on-prem and the feature is in the cloud, just like the Adaptive Protection, but it's impossible. We would have to migrate all the infrastructure to be managed by the cloud to deploy this feature, so we have not deployed it.

We want to be able to manage it in hybrid mode so that we don't have to migrate all the management to the cloud to use this feature. That's the main improvement needed.

I have been using Symantec Endpoint Security Complete for about two years.

The stability is good. The machines are working fine. We haven't faced any problems with the product. In our environment, there are 140 users including end-users and admins.

It is scalable.

We are a midsize enterprise so our usage is generally the same. We may add two to three users, but it's generally constant.

The technical support is very good.

We did not use another solution like this. The only solution we have used is this one from Symantec, and it is very good. We have been with Symantec for many years. We used Symantec Endpoint Protection, and then we had Symantec EDR. And now we have Endpoint Security Complete.

The antivirus server is on-prem and I have some features on the cloud, like Adaptive Protection, but our infrastructure is all on-prem.

The initial setup was not complex and customer support helped us a lot with the deployment. It took us between one and two weeks.

Our implementation strategy was to migrate the database to the new one, the new manager. Then we updated the client and configured the cloud management to be managed in hybrid mode. Finally, we applied other features for the client.

Deployment and maintenance are done by just one person in our organization, with Symantec support.

When we invest in security and we prevent attacks, the investment is valuable.

The pricing is good. It's good value for the money.

Other than the standard fees, you may have to acquire a hardware server or VMs to deploy it on-prem.

I don't know if Symantec has an XDR solution that is effective or not. We are possibly planning to acquire it.

I recommend Endpoint Security Complete. It is good at preventing malware.
