Very secure for storing passwords, keys, and secrets
1Password is very secure for storing all my passwords, keys, and secrets for work 1Password should check and alert me if my information, such as my password or email address, has been sold on the internet. There is a function for that, but it's not very good or useful for me. I haven’t faced any…

Lets you ensure relevant, compliant access in good time and with an audit trail, yet lacks clarity on MITRE ATT&CK
When I was a component owner for PAM's Privileged Threat Analytics (PTA) component, what I wanted was a clear mapping to the MITRE ATT&CK framework, a framework which has a comprehensive list of use cases. We reached out to the vendor and asked them how much coverage they have of the uses cases found on MITRE, which would have given us a better view of things while I was the product owner. Unfortunately they did not have the capability of mapping onto MITRE's framework at that time. PTA is essentially the monitoring interface of the broker (e.g. Privileged Access Management, the Vault, CPM, PSM, etc.), and it's where you can capture your broker bypass and perform related actions. For this reason, we thought that this kind of mapping would be required, but CyberArk informed us that they did not have the capability we had in mind with regard to MITRE ATT&CK. I am not sure what the situation is now, but it would definitely help to have that kind of alignment with one of the more well-known frameworks like MITRE. For CyberArk as a vendor, it would also help them to clearly spell out in which areas they have full functionality and in which ares they have partial or none. Of course, it also greatly benefits the customers when they're evaluating the product.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"1Password is very secure for storing all my passwords, keys, and secrets for work."
"The tool's most valuable feature is security."
"The solution's most valuable features are its password management security and cloud firewall."
"1Password helps to generate unique passwords that you do not need to remember."
"The most valuable feature is the special management. It records the activity and the actions that we use for auditing."
"Right off the bat, the most valuable feature is the DNA scan. It gives us the ability to scan our environment and find the accounts that we're going to need to take under control."
"Password Vault's main advantage is its scalability. We constantly see huge enterprises implementing something like this, and the privileged session management is an excellent piece. You can kind of watch videos of whatever an admin has done."
"Allows secure, logged access to highly sensitive servers and services."
"The most valuable feature is Special Monitoring."
"We know when passwords will be expiring so we can force users to change their passwords, as well as requiring specific password requirements for length, complexity, etc."
"I love the ability to customize the passwords: the forbidden characters, the length of the password, the number of capital, lowercase, and special characters. You can customize the password so that it tailor fits, for example, mainframes that can't have more than eight characters. You can say, "I want a random password that doesn't have these special characters, but it is exactly eight characters," so that it doesn't throw errors."
"It has helped us with our adoption with other teams, and it has also helped us to integrate it at the ground level."

Cons

"1Password should check and alert me if my information, such as my password or email address, has been sold on the internet."
"The service could be improved incrementally to enhance programmatic access to the vault."
"We faced issues while integrating 1Password into JumpCloud."
"Sometimes it fails to appear automatically, and you have to call it manually."
"Currently, in Secure Connect, an end user is required to enter account information manually, and cannot save any of this information for future use."
"The initial setup can get complex."
"CyberArk Privileged Access Manager could improve the integration docking, it should have more layers. For example, integration with OpenShift."
"There should be more models and licensing plans for this software."
"The web interface has come a long way, but the PrivateArk client seems clunky and not intuitive. It could use an update to be brought up to speed with the usability of PVWA."
"I'd like it to be a little more granular. I want a little bit more control over exactly what we do. I know if you do that, you add more knobs and dials to deal with, but that's just my personal approach: granular access."
"Sometimes the infrastructure team is hesitant to provide more resources."
"Overall what I would really love to see is the third-party PAS reporter tool pulled more into the overall solution, ideally as its own deployable component service installation package."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The tool's pricing is not too cheap or expensive."
"Users have to pay around five euros per year for the solution."
"I would rate CyberArk's pricing a nine out of ten, with one being cheap and ten being expensive. It's one of the most expensive solutions in the market, but it's worth it."
"The solution is available at a high price"
"The solution is costly but we get what we pay for."
"I do not have any opinions to add about the pricing of the product."
"No, I do not have any advice on the price of the product."
"Our risk is definitely significantly lower. Also, our resources are low."
"Cost efficiency is the number one thing that can be improved in my mind. This would change lots of companies minds on purchasing the product."
"I rate the tool's pricing an eight out of ten."
