Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We utilize planning on a daily basis, therefore we find it to be the most valuable product for our organization.""The most valuable feature of the solution is its dashboard.""The biggest feature is the source of truth for all of our budget and forecast versions.""The important feature is integration with source data. It connects to various ERP systems, including Workday, Intact, and others. It can also import actuals and compare them to PlanPoint quite easily.""Automated reporting.""It helps develop a more unified work format throughout the company.""The integration with our payroll system to complete staff modeling during our budget and forecast processes.""It's very simple to create a new version and do some more modeling based on your need for planning things like headcount, other expenses, and revenue, everything is configurable within Workday."

"Scalability is one of this solution's big plus points.""It is easy to use. It is very intuitive. Even though there is a lot of functionality that comes out of the box, you can customize the solutions to meet your needs. You have the ability to have business rules that produce all kinds of calculations. We're international, and we do all our FX conversions through that.""Scalability isn't a problem for Hyperion.""The stability is fine and quite user friendly.""One can see that it's a mature product because it addresses all the requirements that you must need for financial consolidation and for budgeting and planning. It's really easy to use.""Functionality-wise, it is what they say it is. It is the best in class, but it all ties back to your users. If your users are completely enamored with Excel spreadsheets, then breaking those habits is hard.""Oracle has an integrated solution for Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) and Hyperion. It keeps the two platforms opened up to each other.""Stable and scalable solution with a valuable data integration feature which allows the slicing and dicing of data. It also has a workforce planning feature that allows you to bring in your HR data."

Cons
"The product's configuration process could be faster.""Adaptive Insights could improve the data designer interface to make integrations easier to set up.""It's a Workday product; they could do a little bit better to integrate a pure-play integration with Workday, which really doesn't do that.""Better user interface (UI).""The integrations could be simpler. It takes quite a bit of internal and IT know-how to set up.""Being able to drill down when using OfficeConnect needs work.""Users continue to become more advanced and are looking for more advanced solutions.""Discovery (the data visualization module): Needs to catch up with BI leaders, such as MS and Tableau. E.g., sorting by amounts in column charts and page slicers to control all visuals."

More Adaptive Insights Cons →

"This solution's stability is a little problematic.""Their documentation could be a little bit more descriptive at places. They don't really do a lot of How-Tos because that gets pushed through to the consulting groups. There have been some books. There is a real good one out there about how to look smarter than you are with Hyperion Planning that some people at a company called ArganoInterRel wrote. Those things do exist, but that's not in their documentation. It's basically like they'll say, "This is the field. This is what it's used for," but they don't tell you how to particularly use it in your case environment.""The solution is about to cease to exist, so it doesn't really matter if they add anything to it. It's at end-of-life.""Hyperion has much room for improvement, especially disaster recovery. You don't have the option to choose the proper disaster recovery method. We have Hyperion and an SQL server on the backend. We have active solutions for the backend database server, which aren't working for our people. They've asked us to remove the high availability to increase application performance.""I would love more comment capabilities so that you could put in little notes, cheat notes.""Oracle EPM Cloud solutions have simplified the security model. Nevertheless, it would be better having a more differentiated security model.""The forecasting of values could be simplified in this solution.""The interface could be better. It could be more user-friendly, it is not very intuitive."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Everything is negotiable, but this solution is low cost compared to others."
  • "Licensing seems to be worth the cost considering the efficiency Adaptive brings."
  • "Prior to purchasing licenses, make sure you understand which users will only need planning and which users will need both planning and OfficeConnect."
  • "Ensure that you have the proper pricing plan in place."
  • "Adaptive Insights' pricing is reasonable."
  • "Pricing is in line with other cloud-based EPM tools. It is a subscription-based model based upon the number of users and site type if it's an admin or end-user type thing."
  • "Adaptive Insights' pricing is relative to its peer competitors. It's certainly competitive compared to a spreadsheet template that you build in Excel. It can be expensive if you need to have 100-500 budget holders giving input and building financial plans. However, in that case, it becomes an extremely good bargain. Compared to its competitors, it offers an excellent value."
  • "It's affordable."

  • "As Oracle's pricing is on the higher end, most businesses prefer to have their own private cloud."
  • "Compared with MSBA, it is quite reasonable."
  • "To get a full license, which gives you access to most of the different Hyperion programs, it costs $2000 to $2500 a month."
  • "We pay for licensing yearly."
  • "Oracle Hyperion is not an inexpensive solution."
  • "The licenses cost approximately $1,000."
  • "The solution is affordable."
  • "Oracle Hyperion's licensing structures are quite expensive for some companies, especially medium-sized companies because of the user-based license."
