Helpful automation scripts, good documentation, responsive support, easy to use and manage
The ability to fire up a virtual machine, use it, and then kill it, is quite a valuable feature for me. They have a lot of startup scripts, I think they are called stack scripts, whereby you can install something at a click of a button. For instance, you can install a whole server at the click of a button. Linode gives the users a lot of control. Another thing that I use quite a lot is their documentation. They have documentation on how to perform tasks and often, I use that to educate a client on how to do something or on how to maintain something, et cetera. This is because a lot of customers are used to simpler systems like an iPhone, where if you want an app then you just download it from a store, press a button and it installs, or press a button and it updates. The truth of the matter is that with servers and things like that, whilst people like the push button idea, it's a lot more complex than that. With these stack scripts, the people at Linode have thought about all of the things that a new user would not think about. They do all of that stuff and then walk you through it, and that's where Linode's documentation is really good. They walk you through what you have to do to secure a server, what you have to do to run a patch, or whatever. They've got all those sorts of knowledge bases of information, which I think is invaluable, especially for clients who are uneducated in these things. It's extremely important to me that Linode offers worldwide coverage via multiple data centers, for various reasons. One is that because we live in this global world, our customers are everywhere. Secondly, for people who need geo-redundancy, with for example a server in China and one elsewhere as a backup, it's great. It's also nice because if they were just US-based, I wouldn't be able to use them because I would need to go through a whole process of trying to certify the data integrity in other regions. I'm sure that most people wouldn't bother with this because of all of the EU laws and the UK laws around data privacy. The US's data privacy laws are far more relaxed than what they are on my side of the world. The fact that I can have a server in London means that I don't have to bother with all of that. My physical location of that server is in London and to me, it is really important. When you compare Amazon, they claim to have infrastructure all over the place but I think that the bulk is centered in Germany. Even if it is in a few different places, everything gets backed up to the US, which is a problem for a lot of people.

Simple to get started with and offers integration features in multiple programming languages
The product provides integration features in multiple languages, such as Python, JavaScript, Golang, and all other languages. Google Firebase has documentation, which might seem a bit confusing, but one with decent knowledge can easily explore and get started with Firebase quickly. Before jumping into any cloud infrastructure, the tool should analyze how much it would cost to run the database. Google Firebase provides a certain number of reads and writes per day, which is approximately 40,000 reads and writes. If there are more than 200 to 300 active users per day, there will be plenty of reads and writes to the database. In such a case, one can't use Google Firebase and has to upgrade to Spark, which is where it is based on usage. The tool is fairly simple to get started with. Utilize all the features can get very complicated. One must be a pretty good developer who has a lot of experience to be able to utilize the best features. It gets really complicated over time. The basic functionality and basic usage are easy to use and easy to get started. There are plenty of deprecated versions, and frequently upgrading them causes inconvenience. I rate the tool a nine out of ten.

Pros

"The simplicity by which you can handle your inventory is one of the things I like the most."
"The fact that you can do any Linux distribution is great. You can try out any Linux distribution, even some of the more obscure ones, and they are always keeping them up-to-date. As soon as a new distribution comes out, it is on the platform pretty much the same day, which I find really helpful."
"I very much like the support that you get, and I think that it's excellent."
"It has helped to minimize the risk and scale services at large in virtually no time."
"Linode offers cost-effective pricing, and it enables me to swiftly deploy my services."
"Service availability is the most valuable feature. It gives every user 100 percent uptime."
"The most valuable feature is the domain settings page."
"Linode has many other cloud servers across the globe."
"The authentication features have made things a lot easier for our organization. About five years ago, developers had to create authentication systems from scratch. Now, services like Google Firebase provide secure and accurate authentication solutions. We can implement authentication quickly by following their documentation."
"The most valuable features of Google Firebase have been Analytics, Remote Config, and Crashlytics. Additionally, a lot of companies have used push notifications which is important. There is little maintenance required."
"Firebase has been helpful in providing analytics and crash insights."
"The connection between Firebase and the integrated development environments, especially when using Android Studio, is crucial as it saves time."
"We're able to use the solution in several processes."
"The most valuable feature of the solution stems from the fact that its storage can be easily used in our mobile applications."
"Google Firebase is one I like a lot because it gives us a little bit more power and accessibility when it comes to publishing apps a lot quicker and for the needs that we have."
"The most valuable feature I like is about the realtime. Updates are also very fast."

Cons

"Right now, they don't have multiple data centers. They have limited data centers. I am currently using the Singapore and Mumbai data centers, but I am looking for data centers in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. They need to improve the availability of their data centers and partnership engagements with cloud Panda solution providers, like us."
"The main area for improvement is the lack of a backup feature to the local hard disk or storage."
"The suitability of this solution depends on the features that you need. If you're an Uber-sized company then you're probably not going to want to start using Linode. If you are a large-sized organization then you're going to want to start using one of the bigger providers that gives you the scalability and the feature set that you are probably going to be needing in the future."
"They don't have role-based access control, which is problematic for us."
"Because they are a smaller company, they do not have, for example, all of the ways for authentication that Amazon or Azure has."
"They are already working on the firewalls and VLANs, which need improvement, and are now in beta. I am on the beta program for the firewalls, but I can't use it yet because they are only in Mumbai and Australia, and I am not in those data centres. This is the one thing that I have been waiting for almost since the day that I joined them, so it is nice that they are doing that. The VLANs will be an improvement as well, and I am keen and waiting for that."
"The network between different servers isn't very good. I have to install additional solutions to link the servers with each other."
"It would be helpful if they offered a service where they handle the Linux security."
"The customization options for password resetting are limited. The process requires additional steps and coding to make it user-friendly. While Google Firebase works well for the login page, password resetting and user verification redirect users to a separate interface, which is not very user-friendly."
"They could add a session replay to better understand how a crash or bug happened."
"Firebase uses JSON, and the storage format is very different to that of SQL. This does not allow for easy migrations."
"We use Firebase for media processing and we are growing more. As we grow, the pricing goes high and it's high compared to competitors. The solution is expensive."
"The cold start-up of the cloud function needs to speed up. For me personally, I'm not experienced in anything there, however, I've just read online it's a problem."
"If I were to review the service, it would be about paid functionalities, like implementing notifications, is easy, but debugging is not."
"The product is not that cheap."
"I would like to have a facility for testing possible scenarios by writing dummy data and then doing different queries."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing model is very simple. If you have very small applications, you can use the plan which costs $5 per month. That gives you 50 GB of memory and almost 1 GB of RAM. If you need more than you have to select the next plan which is $10 per month, which has about 70 GB of data and 2 GB of RAM."
"Pricing is very good and flexible, according to the resources required."
"Compared to other providers, I find Linode's pricing a bit higher. Storage could be more affordable."
"The monthly cost depends on your requirements."
"Compared to other service providers, like AWS and Google, the cost of services are much less and more affordable. We are saving about 90 percent by going with Linode versus other cloud providers."
"There might be something a little bit cheaper but I find it very fair and competitive, and nothing to complain about."
"I pay $5 per month for each of three servers, for a total of $15 per month, and I normally prepay a few months in advance."
"is a little cheaper than Google or Amazon, more or less on par with the other competitors."
"The solution's price is based on the number of consumers."
"My company makes very minimal payments toward the licensing costs of the solution."
"The moment you go into volumes, then you work on a pay-per-volume basis."
"Google Firebase is an expensive solution."
"I rate Google Firebase a seven or eight out of ten for pricing."
"It is an expensive tool."
"They have a free tier that will cover most projects. For more intensive use, you pay as you use it, but the price is very cheap."
"The product is free."
