I am not satisfied with the customization options from Akamai Connected Cloud (Linode) because I still haven't tried any new capabilities provided by them yet. I am still keeping it as a virtual server because it is consistent and my business is stable using it. I didn't try the new features. The main improvement I would like to see from Akamai Connected Cloud (Linode) is the ability to duplicate the server as it is and initialize a new one with the same features. This is my main need, and I think this feature was published a few months ago, but I am not sure of this. I may often need to replicate the server and initiate a new one for some business and drop it again.

Provides good object storage functionalities
MinIO should provide an easier subscription model for companies that don't have a huge amount of data. Our company has a maximum of 100 terabytes of data. The solution should provide more bugging tools in the open-source version to encourage people to buy the support services. It's not an easy decision. If I go to the management and tell them that I need to buy a service, there should be an easier subscription model for companies that don't have huge amounts of data. For me, getting a subscription for 15,000 a year for a system already in production might be a bit hard. I think MinIO supports a minimum of one petabyte or 100 terabytes of data. Since we don't have such huge amounts of data, buying a subscription for the solution is a bit difficult. Hence, we're only using the open-source version for now. If MinIO becomes really crucial for our business, we could ask the management to get a subscription.

Pros

"They have a very nice web interface to allow you to manage and reorganize your server."
"Linode is a very high value for what you are paying."
"The cloud management panel is nice."
"I rate Akamai Connected Cloud (Linode) a 10."
"Their support team is just fantastic and phenomenal."
"The most valuable feature is the domain settings page."
"When I started using Linode, I found its functionality easy to navigate, user-friendly and responsive to my needs. It provides clear reminders about services I'm not using, like DNS zones, which I appreciate."
"For my usage, which is a small business, I rate the scalability of Akamai Connected Cloud (Linode) around nine or ten."
"The solution has good compatibility with different kinds of storage."
"The most valuable features are that MinIO is open, it works on-premise, and is compatible with the Amazon industry which is great for finding compatible libraries in many languages which is very good for developers."
"The most valuable feature is the ease of management and administration."
"MinIO is easy to understand, simple to implement and provides a good feature set."
"The container installation features are good. The S3 feature provisions the storage buckets making it easy. It allows me to spin up the public buckets with open-source technology."
"I was using Amazon's S3 and nothing really seemed to work as well as this, until MinIO, the product is comparable."
"I like that if you have a problem, you can buy the home server. It is stable and robust."
"The initial setup was straightforward as MinIO provided good support documentation and took a couple of days to complete."

Cons

"It would be helpful if they offered a service where they handle the Linux security."
"The network between different servers isn't very good. I have to install additional solutions to link the servers with each other."
"Unfortunately, we're not notified when new upgrades come out so it's difficult for us to communicate with our customers."
"Everything is up-to-date for a small business. But for big business, they need to improve certain things. For example, there should be better security."
"It's not really an issue with Linode itself but upgrading Linux major versions can be challenging."
"They could have more international servers. There are certain places throughout Europe and Eastern Europe which are very open to doing a lot of technology business, such as Romania."
"The product must improve its security."
"Some people are concerned with having their data shielded from US law and I spoke with Linode about this, and they don't have an answer."
"MinIO should provide an easier subscription model for companies that don't have a huge amount of data."
"The product's security is open by default, without any SSL."
"MinIO can sometimes crash because of the dependency in underlying OS software layers."
"On Kubernetes, it wasn't as stable as we wanted it to be."
"Documentation could be improved."
"The monitoring capability is really bad and needs to be improved."
"MinIO could use a time patch on it. It could also use better documentation for some languages like Python."
"With problems, visibility is hard because everything is in containers. Difficult to get to the logs in order to figure out what the problem was."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is neither cheap nor expensive."
"Being that they are small, their prices are slightly higher than the large providers like Amazon if you compare raw computing power."
"One key difference is that pricing is very hard to come by and to understand with all the bigger companies. Their pricing models are so weird and it's hard to figure out exactly how much I am going to pay for this kind of service. Everything is piecemeal. With Linode, it's simple and straightforward. You know exactly what you will have to pay at the end of the day."
"The biggest benefit of Linode is the pricing. It's the best deal in the business... Their pricing model is also very simple compared to Azure. I don't understand why Azure doesn't price things the way that Linode does."
"When we started with the service, the cost was approximately €5 per month."
"At this point, I'm paying more like $35 per month for a slightly bigger machine, and the backup, and the object service."
"The monthly cost depends on your requirements."
"The pricing model is very simple. If you have very small applications, you can use the plan which costs $5 per month. That gives you 50 GB of memory and almost 1 GB of RAM. If you need more than you have to select the next plan which is $10 per month, which has about 70 GB of data and 2 GB of RAM."
"We use the solution's open-source version."
"MinIO is a free open-source solution."
"We use the solution's open-source version."
"This solution is open source so it is free."
"This is an open-source solution but I am using the licensed version."
"My company hasn't tried the version of the solution where we need to pay to use it."
