Time-saving workflows have transformed data preparation and predictive analysis for my team
Some of the best features Alteryx offers are its no and low-code capabilities. It delivers massive time-saving and includes spatial and predictive analysis. Alteryx includes built-in tools such as drive time analysis and linear regression, which are much harder to achieve in standard BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau. In addition to these features, Alteryx provides built-in spatial tools that can calculate drive time and location-based insights with minimal effort through drag-and-drop spatial tools, low complex coding, faster, and more accurate results. Linear regression predicts sales based on marketing spend, estimates costs based on usage, and identifies trends in historical data. Alteryx has positively impacted my organization by saving time, improving accuracy, and enabling better decision-making. Using Alteryx, complex tasks such as data cleansing, joining datasets, drive time analysis, and linear regression can be done much faster compared to manual Excel or SQL work. This reduces dependency on manual effort and lowers the risk of human error. Drive time analysis helps my organization make better location-based decisions, such as identifying optimal service areas or improving customer reach.

Good performance, reporting, and data visualization
The two similar solutions that I have used are MicroStrategy and Tableau. Tableau is pretty similar and it would be difficult for me to point out the differences. With MicroStrategy, it has a great feature where you build the representation in the database and it then the tool creates SQL queries by itself. There are more differences between these tools but this is the one essential difference.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The Alteryx designer has been the most useful feature in the solution."
"The most valuable feature of Alteryx is user-friendliness."
"Fast data processing and cleaning."
"The solution has excellent drag and drop functionality. There's no need for coding."
"Workflows and a large number of tools were a quick QA methodology and rapid prototype creation tool."
"Geo features have made spatial mapping large retail universes possible."
"The initial setup was easy, overall; it's easy to use and easy to learn and you don't have to be a data scientist or an engineer to use it, which makes the setup very straightforward as the overall design is very approachable."
"The drag-and-drop functionality, the ready-to-use analytics module, and the ability to track my data pipelines visually are the solution's most valuable features."
"The most valuable feature is the ease of setting up visualizations."
"The idea that you don't have to generate reports each day but they are sent automatically is great."
"In general, I would say that this is a good tool and I recommend it."
"We like the way we can drill down into each report to get back data on each project. From the portfolio level, I can see what is happening on it. That is a really important feature. I can look at indirect costs, for example, which are hitting each CIO portfolio. It's good to be able to see actual resources in terms of time as well as cost."
"In this sector of the market, it is indeed a better tool than the other data analytics tool, such as QlikView, for example."
"The most valuable feature is the ease of setting up visualizations."
"We like the way we can drill down into each report to get back data on each project, and from the portfolio level I can see what is happening on it, including indirect costs hitting each CIO portfolio and actual resources in terms of time as well as cost."
"The most valuable feature is the performance."

Cons

"Mastering Alteryx, a comprehensive solution, takes time. However, once you have gained proficiency with its layout and how to drag, drop, and connect components, it becomes remarkably easy, yet still thorough."
"The server is too expensive for what you get and it is really a designer desktop on a server. It is not worth the money."
"A feature which allows the user to be able to click on an output (in a file browser) and see the creation of the module would be fantastic."
"The only area where the product lags is documentation and videos on the analytical app and the batch macro."
"Alteryx can improve in data science. They have to have more features and components in the data science aspect because they claim to be a data science tool."
"It's a technical product and those that don't have proper training will have to deal with a steep learning curve."
"The technical support could have a little bit of improvement."
"I honestly can't think of anything that needs to be improved."
"Whenever the client or someone was opening the report it would take around 15 to 20 minutes to open the first time."
"In terms of performance, I can see there are some issues when you are working with big data. When we are taking it from the Data Lake, we have a lot of issues."
"The scripting for customization could be improved."
"Additional templates would help to get things moving more quickly in terms of getting the reports out."
"I would like the visualization for the map of countries to be more easily configurable."
"The scripting for customization could be improved."
"The initial setup was quite complex."
"At this point, there are other tools that I would recommend before using Spotfire."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The desktop platform costs $5,000 per year. It's very costly."
"The designer license costs 5000 euros. The server edition is 1000 euros."
"It can be a bit pricey, especially after the first year."
"It's very expensive. I'd rate it a four out of ten in terms of the price. It's great for big companies but not for small companies."
"We use the free version of the solution. There are enterprise licenses available. It cost approximately $5,000 annually. It is an expensive solution and there are additional features that cost more money."
"I don't know much about the licensing, but there are some additional costs for certain features."
"I rate the tool's pricing a two out of ten."
"There are some implementation services and internal effort costs at the beginning but there is nothing else."
